migration issues. due to the pandemic, the meeting was held virtually at the white house. it also included the participation of vice president harris, secretary of state tony blinken, and to members of the -- two members of the president's national security team. pres. biden: all right. mr. prime minister, it is good to see you. i wish i could reciprocate the hospitality you gave me when i visited ottawa as vice president in 2016. the sooner we can get this pandemic under control, i look forward to seeing you in person in the future. as you know, we had a private talk about this a lot a while ago. the united states has no closer friend in canada. that is why you are my first call as president, my first bilateral meeting, and of course, my vice president spent

some time in montreal for high school, so our channels of communication are wide open. as you know, we have a robust agenda today and best served when the united states and canada work together and lead together. in close coordination on the issues i discussed, covid-19, economic recovery, climate change, refugees and migration, fighting for our democratic values and our democracies at home. we spoke about this at the g-7 but worth saying again, the leaders of the nation of democracy, we have the responsibility to prove that democracy can still deliver for our people for a lot of reasons around the world.
