president biden: as you know, we had talks about thisal little while ago. the united states has no closer friend, no closer friend than canada. that's why you were my first call as president and first bilateral meeting and my vice president spent some time in montreal and so our communications are wide open. as you know, we have a robust agenda today and best served when the united states and canada work together and lead together. in close coordination on the issues i discussed, covid-19, economic recovery, climate change, refugees and migration, fighting for our democratic values and our democracies at home. we spoke about this at the g-7
but worth saying again, the leaders of the nation of democracy, we have the responsibility to prove that democracy can still deliver for our people for a lot of reasons around the world. and following the full participation of our people, standing opportunity and equities for everybody this is shared broadly, that is how we are going to win the battle. thank you for your partnership and your epduring commitment to the u.s. canadian relationship and we are going to talk about china and i look forward to a productive discussion. the floor is yours, mr. prime minister. >> thank you very much, mr. president. >> thank you. and good to see you and as the president said, i spent many of my teenaged years in montreal when my mom was doing research and i have fond memories and left me with our two countries have in common and shared values and priorities. we have a lot each of us and we can address covid and the impact
of the pandemic on our country and working together not only in terms of the economic health but what we have in terms of our shared values and climate change and we look forward to working with you. we are neighbors and friends as a country. and the challenges that we face not only as we have said about covid and climate change and also as the president has talked about and mentioned, china and russia and we can do and working in strengthening and modernizing the u.n. and w.t.o. we look forward to working with you and i turn it over to the deputy prime minister.
