afternoon... a person was shot and killed in broad daylight near rainbow and westcliff. a shopping center was taped off for much of the day as police investigated. in both cases... police are still looking for suspects./// ((dave courvoisier)) the latest death, though, was the result of a crash. tonight... 8 news now reporter karen castro is live at the scene where a man was killed while waiting at a bus stop. she talked with a witness... who captured footage of the gruesome aftermath. karen? ((karen castro)) the witness was passing by and saw the crash at the bus stop. she tells me she stopped because she was recently involved in a crash with an r-t-c bus. in fact, she's recovering from neck surgery. and while she couldn't physically help the victim, she got her cell phone out and started recording. ((karen castro)) frantic moments after a man is hit by a car while waiting at a bus stop on his electric wheelchair. a witness, who does not want to be identified, captured the gruesome scene on cell phone video. ((witness: his hand wasn't even moving and just, he was just minding his own business.)) ((karen castro)) metro police say at around 1-30 thursday afternoon...a car driving east on lake mead near rancho... hit the median... causing the two left tires to deflate. the vehicle then crossed over to the westbound lanes. jumped the curb... striking the victim. (( i'm not getting nothing.)) ((karen castro)) a bystander is seen doing chest compressions on the man... meanwhile the driver is sitting inside her car before stepping out with c-d's in her hand. we're blurring her face until
investigation... but she appeared to be in shock. (( how did you get across the thing? you have no idea? are you high? (no ma'am) no? so you don't know how you came over here? did you go to sleep?)) ((karen castro)) the witness says she wanted to get as much video evidence as possible because she would have liked for someone to have done the same when she was in a wreck a few months ago. ((witness: now it's just my word against the bus company, where nobody was there for me.)) ((karen castro)) the witness says she was rear ended by an r-t-c bus... and is now using a walker post neck surgery. but that didn't stop her from trying to help. ((witness: i'm sorry, i wish i could of did more. come on sir! hey sir! hello? witness: to me felt like i did something and hopefully he heard my voice.))
