shutdown. but don't worry, it will only affect nonessential government employees like park rangers, museum guides, and the president. so that will be fine. [ laughter and applause ] i guess congress had 24 hours to pass a short-term spending bill if they want to avoid a a shutdown. trump told them to do their jobs, then went back to announcing the winners of a a made-up awards show. [ laughter and applause ] did you see this? last night trump tweeted a link to his fake news awards page. but for a while, it wouldn't load. [ laughter ] his i.t. guy was like -- [ russian accent ] "sorry, my trolls can only build so fast. [ laughter and applause ] i'll get back to working on this thing. heh heh heh." [ light laughter ] trump named the "new york times," abc news and cnn as the top three reporters of fake news. his top three reporters of real news were fox news, his magic 8-ball and snapple caps.
[ laughter and applause ] real news. this is interesting. i read that trump actually has two cell phones that his staff nicknamed trump one and trump two. sounds a little something out of a doctor seuss book. [ light laughter ] it's actually no coincidence. trump actually wrote his own doctor seuss book about himself. we got a copy. check this out. it says, "the day was beginning, i rolled up my sleeves, i put on my tie that goes past my knees. [ laughter ] too cold to go out, too hyper to snooze, so i sat in the house and binge-watched fox news. [ light laughter ] i ate some mcdonald's, i ate kfc, i ate more mcdonald's and more kfc. [ light laughter ] i went to the doctor, he said everything's fine. but even i doubt i weigh 239. >> yeah, so we'll see how saturday goes. >> jimmy: no, it's going to go fantastic. do you have friends that have hosted before? you must. >> yeah, i've got some advice, you know, from sam rockwell and gal gadot and amy schumer. [ light laughter ] no, but i saw you were at the golden globes. this was your 5th time at the globes? >> can you believe that? >> jimmy: i can't! >> i feel like i just started in the industry. yeah, my 5th time there and it
was really special this year. >> jimmy: it was -- it was a a great one, huh? >> yeah, it was really emotional, you know, we were all there, you know, kind of unveiling the time's up movement and -- >> jimmy: yeah. >> it was really special because it felt like it was the first time we were in control of the narrative in some way. and we're -- all of us girls were there and it wasn't about like who wore it better, you know? those silly shows about dresses and stuff. we were just there supporting women in every industry and that's what i love about that organization. >> jimmy: yeah, that's what i heard from other people, they were like, "i really didn't even care if i lost the award or won the award, we were all just rooting for each other." >> yeah, exactly! yeah and rooting for -- the great thing about that night is we were raising money for women in all industries. and so it wasn't about being an actress in a way. >> jimmy: just hollywood and everything, yeah. >> yeah. >> jimmy: and then oprah's speech, oh, my goodness. >> oprah's speech, oh, my gosh -- >> jimmy: you were there for oprah's speech? >> i was there -- i was there, you know, i had met her before. >> jimmy: how'd that go? >> not well. [ laughter ] >> jimmy: why? >> because i started crying.
[ laughter ] >> jimmy: what! >> yes! >> jimmy: you loser! [ laughter ] >> i'm such a loser. >> jimmy: why! >> i know, i -- >> jimmy: it's just 'cause it's oprah, you just start crying. i think i cried too when i saw oprah, yeah. >> exactly. someone grabbed me -- >> jimmy: i just said, "i'm just cutting onions. hey, how's it going! how are you, oprah?" >> i went, "oprah's there!" and they were like, "you haven't met oprah?" i said, "no, no, no." so they grabbed my hand and brought me over to her and she goes, "hello, nice to meet you." i was like, "ah!" and i just started crying and i said, "you raised me!" [ laughter ] >> jimmy: "you raised me?" >> yeah! that's how i am. >> jimmy: that's not weird, uh, okay. >> super cool! >> jimmy: she's like, "security! [ laughter ] security, get her out of the building!" [ laughter ] >> yes. >> jimmy: but was she nice? did you get to talk with her after? or -- >> i don't -- i kind of blacked out after that moment. but the only other time i really have had any contact with oprah is i had a speech at the critics choice awards a few years ago and after my speech, the camera cut to her and i
didn't know this until friends showed me. and she mouthed the word, "wow." [ laughter ] >> jimmy: hey, not -- >> i don't know if it was a a good wow or a bad wow. >> jimmy: what would the bad wow be like? >> wow! that was terrible. [ laughter ] >> jimmy: i don't think she would ever do that. that's not oprah's style. >> not oprah, yeah. >> jimmy: so oprah saw you speak and she said, "wow." >> she knows i exist. [ light laughter ] >> jimmy: and after oprah's speech, they cut to you and you said, "you raised me!" >> "you raised me!" [ laughter ] >> jimmy: that was very interesting. how -- let's talk about "molly's game." man, oh, man, i was -- i told you i was nervous watching it. i got sweats. >> yup. >> jimmy: i felt like a a gambler. i go -- and i'm not a gambler. and i was like, "whew, this is too high stakes." this is like an underground poker game and you play molly -- well, you explain. >> yeah, so molly bloom, she was ranked third in women's moguls in north america. she had a terrible accident and she found herself in los angeles where she started running the most exclusive high
stakes poker game in the world. celebrities, sports stars, tech billionaires. unbeknownst to her, she lets in members of the russian mafia. [ light laughter ] >> jimmy: and it gets -- and it's real. >> it gets -- and that's what's crazy, when i first read the script i thought, "okay, this is -- hollywood added some juice to this." and then i realized, oh, no, it's all online. it's real. >> jimmy: no, that's absolutely -- you can look it up. >> yeah. >> jimmy: it definitely happened, yeah. she's a real person, yeah, absolutely. and she's -- you've probably seen her a bunch -- >> yeah. >> jimmy: but she's got to be proud of what happened, right? i mean, this movie's great. nominated for baftas and -- >> yeah. >> jimmy: i mean, you name it. >> i mean i hope -- i think she's proud. the first time she saw it, she was sitting behind me, which was a little stressful. and her dad was crying behind me. and i was like, "oh, my gosh." but afterwards -- >> jimmy: he was like, "i raised you. i really did, though."
