studios, this is kpix 5 news. >> and good monday morning, everyone. rise and shine. a beautiful shot atop the transamerica pyramid. looking down on the bay and the gorgeous bay bridge at 5:00 in the morning on a holiday. hi everyone. i'm frank mallicoat. >> and i'm michelle griego. >> a deadly shooting at a popular tourist destination. and police are looking for the gunman who shot three people on twin peaks. two of the victims died. jackie ward is live at twin peaks with more on the investigation. >> reporter: of course, twin peaks is known for the postcard views. a double murder is the last thing on anyone's mind. a 20-year-old and a 22-year-old were killed when a gunman opened fire. and the shooter hit an 18-year-

old who is suffering from life- threatening injuries in the hospital. all three men were targets and this area known as a tourist destination has had a string of problems, the murder being the most serious. >> we've had challenges on twin peaks. particularly auto break-ins, some violent crime and mostly auto break-ins. we don't have enough police officers. we need more police. >> reporter: this is not the first incident up here. there was a robbery a couple of months ago. the lack of manpower is a problem. there are not enough officers to patrol all areas of the city at once. the shooter is still out there. and police are asking you to call if you know anything about the murder. in san francisco, two dozen people are looking for a place to live on this monday after a fire gutted two victorians. one building caught fire and the flames spread to a neighboring home.

low 80s in fairfield and back in the delta. discovery bay, 80 degrees there today. mid-70s in petaluma. and we're talking 81, 82 degrees for our outside numbers and we climb into the cloverdale area. do you sneeze and wheeze? that report is ahead in less than 10 minutes. we have reports of crash in the san jose area, southbound 680 near south king road, that off ramp there, there's an overturned vehicle near there. something to watch out for on southbound 680. there's a look at the bay bridge. and things are looking pretty smooth. holiday light as we kick off the holiday. a 19-minute drive from the carquinez bridge to the maze. and don't forget, holiday schedules out there. bart train on the holiday

schedule. and you still have to feed the parking meters in downtown san francisco. overall things are running smooth. 101 from 5800 follow golden gate toll plaza, a 14-minute drive time. and the san mateo bridge no major delays or accidents. 92 from 880 to 101, a 13 minute drive. a bay area pastor killed in his own apartment. and police believe the attacker was a family member. we have a report at menlo park. >> reporter: parishioners can't believe what happened on friday here at the mount olive church of god. their pastor -- here is his picture -- bishop -- a sunday school teacher, a deacon,

minister, and the bishop here was stabbed to death in his apartment in san leandro. a neighbor reported hearing the struggle and a man saying your dad is bleeding i don't want to die. the son was arrested in the murder. the parishioners are really in shock. >> very happy with his kids so i don't understand exactly what happened. >> and here is the son's mug shot. is 21 years old and being held without bail. the district attorney plans to file murder charges. >> do police have an idea what the motive may have been. >> obviously, some sort of domestic disturbance in that apartment where we understand both men lived. memorial services will be held for the police officer killed in his vallejo home last

week. he worked for the police department for 30 years and was shot and killed by the father of his grandson friday. a public service will be held at the richmond memorial auditorium at 10 a.m. it's been less than 48 hours since antonin scalia was found dead at a texas vacation resort. and washington is buzzing about a possible replacement. his body is being flown to washington today. candidates for the president on both sides of the aisle are weighing in on what they think should happen. republicans are fighting for a delay until a new president is elected. and democrats say it's president obama's constitutional obligation to make the appointment. >> the constitution is pretty clear. and that is it is the job of the president of the united states to appoint, nominate members to the supreme court. and the senate confirms. >> let's let the voters weigh in. the court can function with eight justices.

the winds are increasing. and we do have calm waters. 62degrees in san francisco. and 60 degrees east of the bay bridge in oakland. up to 14 in santa rosa for the most part. we'll have an offshore wind this afternoon. and that ushers the pollen around. the count today is on the medium to high side. so if you suffer from allergies -- and who doesn't -- be prepared. near or at record temperatures. we have a storm right now that's well to the north of the bay area. diverted by the huge dome of high pressure that's been filmily in place. bringing 90s to southern california. and for us locally, the fog has shifted offshore. so we'll have more of the dry air mass this afternoon. we're going to advance forward

creativity and essentially like that's gone. so we'll figure that out later. >> there's no word on the cause of the fire. >> search crews are trying to find a bay area man who went missing during his daughter's wedding. he went for a walk and when the family was ready to leave, he was not around. relatives recall he was feeling down before his daughter's big day. >> sounded like he was i mean a little different and he wanted to go back to india. >> for the last few days he was not doing well. >> rescue teams are centering the search on a canal. the 55-year-old worked in san jose. a bay area pastor was killed in his own apartment. and police believe the man responsible was a relative. >> we have a live report from

the menlo park area. >> reporter: nobody here at the church of god wants to talk about the murder of their bishop. here is his picture. he's 54 years old. a sunday school teacher, deacon, and most recently bishop. the neighbor reported hearing a struggle and a man saying your dad is bleeding. i don't want to die. his son was arrested in his murder. the parishioners are in shock. >> very happy with his kids so i don't understand exactly what happened. >> that son isaiah bostick is being held without bail. investigators have not released information on a motive. the district attorney plans to file murder charges tomorrow. 5:33 and a full check of

weather with roberta on another unbelievable day. >> it is. it's unseasonably mild. we were noting at twin peaks, some gusty winds offshore. mount diablo reporting wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour. as the atmosphere where ann is we have gentle breezes up to 3 miles per hour. and pleasanton at 7:00. and santa rosa at 14. couple that with the mild air mass. and the end result is near and we'll establish some record high temps. 62 in san francisco. and 52 in santa rosa. temperatures across the board today, head to the beach. head west. 70s. upper 70s around the peninsula to around 80, 81 degrees to the south in gilroy. and good morning, danville at 79 degrees. a northeast breeze at 15 miles per hour. 71degrees in stinson beach to

nearly 80 degrees in napa, sonoma, and glenn ellen. we'll talk about the record warmth, how long it's going to last, and when to expect rain. that's coming up at 40 minutes after the hour. that weather sounds absolutely beautiful. overall things are starting out holiday light. and we have a few incidents we're keeping our eye on. this one is southbound 680 at king road. and an overturned vehicle is on the shoulder of the road. it may cause a bit of a distraction. a tow truck is on the way. and right now currently there at the scene. we'll keep you updated throughout the morning. here's a live look at the bay bridge. things are looking light on the roted. a few headlights and looking great. 80 to the maze and 19-minute drive time. and lots of green. exactly what we like to see. taking a look at the altamont pass and definitely very light.

we're seeing a few yellow arrows on the sensors, and nothing major or major delays. a 14-minute drive time heading through the area. and the nimitz freeway to the maze. currently a 16-minute drive time and traffic is picking up in the area. and the golden gate bridge looking beautiful as ever. 101 to the golden gate bridge toll plaza, a 14-minute drive. chp will release the names of two people killed in a fiery crash in bodega bay over the weekend. this was the aftermath of the collision. the car slammed into a tree early sunday morning. the man and the woman inside died. it's not clear what caused the crash just yet. and in oakland a driver is dead after barreling into a parked semitrailer. the passenger is expected to survive. the car was headed southbound on 57th avenue and it crashed.

no word yet on a cause. >> dozens of skiers are back on solid ground. it was a tight squeeze while skiers waited to be rescued. the traffic jam stopped 40 feet up at a new hampshire resort. crews had to use a cable to get the 48 skiers back to the ground one by one. a brake problem was to blame. record low temperatures over the east coast and the cold snap is not over just yet. temperatures reached far below zero in much of the northeast. and in manhattan, new yorkers were not going to let all the cold get in the way of celebrating valentine's day. >> if this is not love, i don't know what is. to get married in 1 degree weather -- it's crazy. >> what does it feel like? >> i don't know, like hell, i guess. >> in boston, the temperature so cold that railway workers used fires to keep the tracks

from freezing up. freezing temperatures are expected for the rest of the week in the northeast. and in chicago, cold air too. this is along the banks of the belmont harbor. huge ice chunks are turning lake michigan into a mosaic. and take a look at the sea smoke forming on the sea. it's actually steam that forms when the cold air moves over the relatively warmer waters which are probably 48. big name musicians are waiting for the grammys to be decided. and catch the awards show tonight. pit bull and -- a twist to this year's event. performers will honor legendary musicians who recently passed away. the bay area is rich with talent. and no surprise. we have topnotch nominees.

welcome to your presidents day holiday. it's 5:43. and looking out to sfo, clear skies. not anticipating any airport delays. the visibility is unlimited and the weather is unseasonably warm. and i'll pinpoint the forecast coming up. officials have determined antonin scalia died of natural causes during a hunting trip in texas. >> reporter: the body of late supreme court justicen antonin scalia is transported to washington monday. and debate over the replacement dominates the campaign trail. ted cruz criticized donald trump. >> anyone who writes checks to jimmy carter and hillary clinton does not care about conservative justices on the supreme court. >> reporter: he voted in favor

of obama care. he got there because ted cruz pushed him like wild. >> jeb bush took a more measured tone. >> i think president obama is going to submit a nominee. and in all likelihood, this person will be out of the mainstream and rejected by the senate. >> reporter: marco rubio dismissed concerns about the supreme court working with only eight justices. >> let's let the voters weigh in in november. >> candidates on the other side of the aisle accused republicans of ignoring the constitution. >> i don't think that mitch mcconnell has it right. the constitution is pretty clear. and that is, it is the job of the president of the united states to appoint, nominate members to the supreme court and the senate confirms. >> president obama said he would nominate someone to the bench and that's exactly what he should be doing. and leader mcconnell should

follow the constitutional process. funeral arrangements have yet to be announced. the nominee would ultimately tip the balance of the court. and justice scalia's death may have an impact on several cases. the justices need to rule or states rights to restrict abortion. and immigration, and to decide if a california teachers association can force all teachers to pay dues. and former president george w bush will hit the campaign trial. jeb bush believes his brother could help save his sputtering presidential campaign. and he hopes to gain momentum. the primary is on saturday. it is 5:46 right now. it's a holiday. roads are not looking too bad.

the south bay drive times. all the way to -- lots of green out there. perfect as we kick off monday morning. here's a look at the bay bridge. and traffic is picking up slightly. and 80 from the carquinez bridge to the maze, a 19-minute drive time. let's see the altamont pass to 680 this morning. we're beginning to see the yellow arrows. and still this is an improvement from what we typically see this time of the morning. a 14-minute drive time out there. and here's a live look in oakland. the nimitz freeway. starting to see a little bit of traffic but no major delays. 20 degrees. temperatures will top off to near 20 degrees above average. clear skies, and visibility is unlimited. and we're up here towards the bay bridge. it's 62 in san francisco. and due east it's 60 in oakland. to the south in san jose in the upper 50s and to the north in

santa rosa, 57 degrees. and to the east, it's 52 in concord. 5-mile-per-hour winds at mountain view. and 10 at mineta airport. santa rosa, 14-mile-per-hour winds. and the offshore winds coupled with the warm air mass will contribute. and the winter ushering the pollen around. if you suffer from allergies, a very uncomfortable day. we will establish record highs. we have rain returning on wednesday. and we'll dry out by next weekend. here is the satellite and radar. a couple of glitches and nonetheless, you get the idea that we have the storm track to the north of the bay area. 71 in sacramento. and 80 on the coast of monterey bay, pebble beach, and caramel.
