friday. happening right now.. investigators are working to find out who's responsible for dumping bags containing animal remails along the side of a road. officers found the bags near lake mead and lamb yesterday. metro says two bags appeared to have dead cats inside. a third bag contained a larger animal. metro is looking into how the animals died. investigators hope that information will lead them to whoever did it. right now, police are trying to track down these two men..they say may be connected to an armed robbery at a tavern. last month, investigators say a man in a mask walked into the business near eastern and flamino, and held them up at gunpoint. the two people in these pictures were in the bar before the robbery, and held the door open for the suspect. if you recognize them call crime stoppers. a man has been sentenced to 13- years in prison for taking part in a drug trafficking scheme. billy cooks pleaded guilty to plotting with his girlfriend.. e'lala frank.. to possess and distribute

the u-s attorney's office says postal inspectors in alaska intercepted a suspicious package in january of 2014.. sent by cooks from las vegas. it contained nearly 450 grams of meth. sentencing has been postponed for the man who pleaded guilty to killing a little girl and her grandmother when he plowed through a bus stop. police say 20 year old leonardo ruesga was on drugs at the ruesga will be back in court next week. he faces 12 to 40 years in prison. an action news update... on the search for one of a dead teen's prized possessions. the family of sincere manuel says they've stopped their search, now that it's back in their hands. you may remember it was in his sister's stolen car. and yesetay, police told the family officers found the car in a parking lnt era arville and charleston. a wallet and new pair of shoes were missing, but sincere's helmet was inside. sincere passed away on saturday

his family is heading to arizona for his funeral tomorrow. another update now on a package thief who ruined a local couple's valentine's day. the car used in that theft and the thief have been found. and it all happened because of a 13 action news viewer like one of you! 19:19:34 jeffrey wayne "think karma's going to get him back as much as anything else and there's no reason for me to go over and talk to someone who stole my vehicle." jeffrey wayne is the owner of that car, which was stolen days before. he recognized his car in our newscasts. and then a viewer spotted the car at a gas station yesterday. our cameras were rolling when the suspect was arrested. the other driver is cooperating with police. no word yet on who may have been at fault. and.. a child is recovering after being hit by a car. chopper 13.. fast and first over the scene near iron mountain road and torrey pines. we don't know how bad the child was hurt. this accident is also under investigation. now to the battle over the supreme court-- president obama is not backing down in nominating a replacement for antonin scalia. mister obama says the supreme court is no place for political games and says he doesn't know who he'll pick. obama i intend to do my job between now and january 20th of 2017. i expect them to do their job as well. but at the same front, the republicans are vowing to block all his plans. rubio it is not fair for a president to appoint in their last year in office to appoint someone to a lifetime position. meantime, the powerful chairman of the senate judiciary committee says he hasn't ruled out public hearings or a vote.

florida.. accused of practicing medicine without a license. malachi love robinson called himself "doctor love." police say he fooled his victims with an elaborate website.. complete with a glowing bio. early last month.. he even held a grand opening for a medical clinic. that's when an undercover police officer went in.. posing as a patient. when he started giving her a physical exam.. she put him in handcuffs. reporter: "how do you feel, all the people who believed in you and thought you knew what you were talking about." he says, "i'm hurt because of all of these allegations but this is not the first time i have been accused and i will pursue this." "doctor love" was detained by police a year ago after a gynecologist found him in an exam room. he's now being held on 3-thousand dollar bond. we all remember george zimmerman, he's the florida man acquitted in the shooting death of travyon martin. and today, his girlfriend is coming forward on how zimmerman also ruined her life, but in a very different way. heather met zimmerman last may, and she says the relationship

more and more women nowadays are waiting to have kids. but now a new clue could have some women thinking twice. with more, here's abc doctor timothy johnson. < career? higher education? even finding the right mate. all reasons that a woman might wait to have children. and, statistics show, more and more women are putting off this but today, new research? suggests that women waiting until their 40s could be increasing their risk for a specific health issue.

of minnesota looked at more than 70,000 women ? finding that those who waited until 40 or later to get pregnant for the first time had a 60 percent increase in the risk of a brain bleed. the researchers ? also found hints of an increase in heart disease and nonbleeding strokes? though this correlation was weaker and may be due to chance. fortunately, the overall risk of brain bleeds is low? and more research is needed before we can say for sure that waiting to have a baby and having this health issue are directly related. for now, the best thing that a woman can do is to talk with her doctor about all of the considerations that go along with pregnancy? and then decide for herself if waiting is the best thing. with this medical minute, i'm dr. timothy johnson > migraines can take their toll as soon as they start.. but there are ways to as they start.. but some doctors suggest you try something like indoor

some good news on metro's k-9 stabbed on duty. nicky is recovering well and should be back to work in about 3-weeks! you'll remember he was stabbed in the head with a machete during a standoff last friday. an elderly woman tied up in her own home, as robbers ransacked it! it all happened in sun city anthem. henderson police say the suspects got away with cash and jewelry. the 72-year-old woman has minor injuries. hear from her neighbors from 13 action news reporter david schuman, coming up at 5. a man is in stable condition after being shot during a parking lot robbery. it happened near cimarron and blue diamond. police are still looking for the shooter. in just about 2 hours, essence las vegas west is holding its grand opening. it's from from 6 to 8 tonight. they're located on tropicana near lindell. we'll take you inside the shop on later editions of 13 action news. temperatures overnight will be held warm by the gusty winds and will stay in the mid and upper 50s for the valley which will allow for a nice recovery warming again into the mid 70s by the weekend as the winds die down.
