we're following.... right now.. ) a woman rushed to the north las vegas police are still on the scene investigating right now.. lets get out to 13 action news reporter bryan callahan. police have been out here since around eight o'clock tonight. officers found a woman in her 30's with a gunshot wound. she was take to umc with what officers termed serious injuries. as you can see here, not a whole lot of witnesses in this area with this large desert lot between the road and nearby homes.

across the street. reporting live, bryan callahan, 13 action news. metro is also investigating a shooting.... right now.... this one.... near maryland parkway and hacidenda.. police say... someone was shot.... at an apartment complex.... just hours ago.. the victim was taken... to sunrise hospital with unknown injuries. the gunman is still.... on the loose new tonight.. a clark county firefighter is recovering after being rushed to umc after house fire rainbow and wigwam. when firefighters got there.. the garage and first floor of the home were in flames. no one inside was hurt.. but one firefighter may have suffered heat exhaustion. the firefighter is in stable condition tonight. now... to a story you saw first.... on - 13- action news .. our crews... the first to get this surveillance video.... after a bag of dead cats was found.... in the road! tonight.. animal activists raising some concern.... about how the investigation was handled. 13 action news reporter....

near lake mead and lamb.... with a timeline.... of this gruesome discovery. mahsa? tricia -- on the side of this building! the camera's were rolling! it was early tuesday morning -- that the cats were tossed here! tonight - no leads! but lots of questions! "who would do something like this? who would take a bunch of animals and bag them up and just toss them out like trash?" the road looks clear! until surveillance camera's capture this car pass! 4am tuesday! suddenly several bags appear! inside: dead cats! but is this just a case of illegal dumping? or is a felony -- the cats being killed first! tonight -- new video that shows patrol officers arrive when the sun comes up! and drag those bags to the side! "i'm glad that they stopped and moved the bags out of the road but why aren't they looking inside them?" "in maybe one of those bags was a human." the officers appear to have a conversation.

those bags for about six hours! late that afternoon, 13 action news arrives to investigate a tip! our reporter feet away from the cats! an hour later, police come back! the crime tape goes up! c-s-i begins processing the evidence! tonight animal activists gina greisen says the delay could have hurt this case! "it contaminates a crime scene and then maybe people who saw soemthing then you know witnesses possible leave." 13 action news reporter gina lazara is live in the studio right now with the family's emotional response. gina. steve- alyssa o-trem-ba's mom says the house is too quiet without her oldest daughter.....even four and a half years after her brutal killing. but tonight - alyssa's mom -- but tonight - alyssa's mom -- feeling a little bit more closure. "he didn't just kill her. i mean besides the rape. it was overkill." abducted -- attacked and stabbed more than 80 times..... 15-year old alyssa otremba couldn't have seen it coming. "there's just bad people. it doesn't matter what side of town you live on." but now -- alyssa could finally be getting some justice. her alleged killer......pleading guilty to the heinous crime. "i was relieved though. definitely relieved." when the attorney called to give alyssa's mom -- jennifer otremba the news -- "i was just like what?!" a little feeling of happiness. throughout so much grief. consider my daughter's life or my family." 23-year old javier righetti admitted to the court -- kidnapping. raping. and stabbing otremba multiple times before burning her corpse in northwest las vegas. "he's got a history of this kind of action and so its hard to think that somebody feels bad about what they're doing when they continue to do it." now without a trial -- jennifer's just glad her family won't have to hear the greusome and tragic evidence surrounding her daughter's death. more cloud cover will push in wednesday afternoon and winds will become breezy, ahead of a expect gusts to about 35 mph wednesday night and to about 50 mph on thursday in the las vegas valley. the higher elevations will have even stronger gusts and a high high temps will drop to the low 70s on thursday and skies are expected to be mostly cloudy. we'll see a clearing to mostly clear skies by friday and afternoon highs will rebound to the mid 70s on friday, and remain there through the beginning of next week. calmer wind is also expected friday through early next week. that's our news for tonight.. but i'll be back after the

report.. i'm steve wolford. dozens of people at a valley apartment complext say they spent more than a week without hot water. they want answers from management.. but they say that's not happening. so.. contact 13 investigative reporter stephanie zepelin looked into their rights. """""""""we got numerous emails from people living here at canyon pointe apartments, all saying they had no hot water and got no explanation.""""""""" "" on january fifth, residents in a handful of the buildings here noticed they had no hot water. john hamilton says the next day they got a note on their doors. 17.05.30 we got a letter posted to our door 34 saying that the hot water would be back on the next day on the seventh 38 the hot water never came back on 41 john says he and his room mates tried to get an explanation from the office.

one valley woman recently reached out.. claiming she's had one issue after another. precious curtis says her problems started as soon as she moved into liberty village. first.. the unit wasn't painted. then the washer and dryer were broken. the new dryer took days to show up before it was left in the out.. and her 6 children were left in the cold for 2 weeks. it was really bad to hear my children tell me, 'mom we're cold, we're cold' 56 and i can't get them heat, but im paying rent every month 59 full rent, never been late 1.00 but i can't give my children the heat they need to keep them warm 03 for those two weeks i was without heat as soon as they fixed the heat.. a leak started in both bathrooms.. but no one repaired the walls after that was taken care of. we spoke with property management.. who said they'll be fixing the walls very soon. they also admit they've had problems..

local post office and they told us that there were about 30 break ins and it would take about two and a half weeks for them to fix all the mailboxes. with a wait time like that.. it's important to report any mail theft to your local post office right away. there's also an app called "next door" that lets people in the area post suspicious activity in their neighborhood. a disabled grandmother says she's worried about her safety.. and the safety of students.. because of something that keeps happening at brown middle school. cheryl tracy says they put up this chain about half an hour before school lets out.. and it blocks access to 5 handicapped spots. that means she has to leave even earlier to get parking.. or battle it out with everyone else for a spot along the street. i am angry that they won't work with me i'm not asking for a lot just wait 20 more minutes before you put up the chain the clark county school district says it can get chaotic when school lets out. they tell action news that chaining off the lot makes it
