we have more details on that fatal crash yesterday... when a man was hit by a car while walking on the interstate. nevada highway patrol says they were called out to i-580 northbound just south of bower's mansion -- shortly after one a-m. when they arrived, officers found a man lying in the roadway. 18 year old chile bartels of carson city... was pronounced dead on scene. n-h-p says 42 year old james dolan of sparks... the driver of the red honda civic that struck bartels... was on scene when they arrived. dolan was taken into custody... but on charges unrelated to the crash. officers tell us they found another car in a ditch near the incident. there was another vehicle that was involved in a previous crash south of our location. as of right now we are still conducting investigation. it is unknown on the status of the driver of that vehicle

another public utilities commission hearing. solar customers and businesses have been protesting the new rate hikes. the p-u-c took questions over whether existing solar customers should be grand-fathered in and allowed to keep their original lower fees. opponents of the new rate hikes say they eliminate the return on investment for installing rooftop solar... leaving home

several solar companies to close up shop in nevada. robert - "basically has eliminated solar in nevada. you know, a lot of companies picked up and left as a result of that. doesn't matter now whatever happens, i don't think you'd ever attract them back" that is yet to be seen, as solar energy promises to be an ongoing issue here in and out of the courtroom. as for whether or not existing solar rooftop customers will be grandfathered in to last year's rates, they tell us a decision on that is expected friday. and the first electric car charging station along the rural stretch between las vegas and reno is complete. nevada officials and n-v energy say a station is up and running at the eddie world gas station in beatty. governor sandoval announced the so-called electric highway last year. the project's goal is to help drivers make the 400-mile journey between las vegas and northern nevada without running out of power. officials are still negotiating to set up stations in fallon,

welcome back. let's take a look at some news making headlines around the nation right now. first, a battered cruise ship that was on its way to florida....is coming back to new jersey. massive waves and hurricane force winds confined passengers on board to their cabins over the weekend...as the ship got caught in a storm. royal caribbean says the ship is expected back to port wednesday. for more on this story, tune in to c-b-s this morning following our show at 7 a-m. and, about a million people are expected to line the streets -- for a victory parade and rally honoring superbowl 50 champs - the denver broncos.

park were gearing up yesterday -- as crews painted roads in orange and blue. the broncos defeated the carolina panthers 24-to-10 sunday night...securing a second super bowl win for quarterback peyton manning. looking around the world now... nine people are dead, and at least 150 injured after a train crash near munich germany today. 50 of those injured were seriously hurt. two regional trains crashed head-on. the collision left train carriages fused together and partly derailed. german police say that all survivors have now been rescued from the wreckage and taken to hospitals for treatment. police describe the suspects as two black men, about 6 foot 1 with heavy builds. and here is a photo of the suspect vehicle. it's a newer four-door white ford f-150 pickup truck. and sparks police are looking into that armed robbery at a casino early yesterday. they were called out to reports of the hold up around 4 a-m at the alamo casino on greg street. one person walked into the store and showed a large silver revolver... then gave the cashier a backpack and ordered her to fill it with money. the man left the store with an undisclosed amount of cash. that suspect is a white man... five- foot-eight... wearing black face paint, black clothing and a black baseball cap. reno police are also investigating an armed robbery at a convenience store in stead. police say around 2-30 a-m sunday... a woman demanded money from the clerk at the jacksons store on 10585 stead boulevard, showing the clerk a gun in her

community now... the the 24th annual reno mardi gras is almost here! hosted by the reno rotary club, it offers a silent auction, tons of food, and of course plenty of wine and spirits. it's an annual fundraiser to help people in our community -- with an emphasis on education. fennell: "we encourage people to
