and i'm monica jackson welcome to fox5 news this morning. first - cassandra jones joins us with a quick look at the fox 5 weather 24-7 forecast. good morning i'm cassandra jones with fox5. we will start close to freezing with 33 degrees to start tuesday with hard freeze warnings for southern nye & western clark counties for temps dropping into the teens. north breezes 10-15 mph are expected today with a high of only 46 degrees & mostly clear skies. we'll be even cooler on wednesday morning with a low of 31 degrees, then a mostly clear high of 49. we will then warm up to the mid-upper 50s thursday through saturday with 62 expected sunday & 61 degrees monday. average high is 60, 61 by the weekend.

the city of henderson already reached half the number of homicide's it racked up in 2015. police say they found a man shot dead outside the villas apartment complex near sunset and green valley yesterday afternoon. one witness, who wished to stay anonymous, says he saw the whole thing... he says a man and a woman in their mid 20's were standing over the dead body after shots were fired. then they got into a white chrysler and sped off. i heard, you know, like five gun shots, and i came out and looked, you know the street was quiet, and i just saw a van pull out." several witnesses say they were nervous to come forward fearing retaliation. if you saw anything or have any information that could help stoppers at 702- 385-55-55. video sent to the fox5 "report it" site by one of our

a huge showdown at a courthouse in burns, oregon yesterday. militia groups met up to protest what they call "government overreach" on federal land... but they were met by another group that support lawmakers. "this is ridiculous, they are scaring our children." those in support of the government say all they want is for outsiders to leave the city. the leader of the protest, nevada rancher ammon bundy was arrested last week along with 10 others and one of the group's members was shot dead by police. bundy is now telling his followers to go home. officials in california say the woman arrested for helping 3 inmates escape a prison will not be charged for now. the woman taught english at the jail and exchanged personal letters with one of the inmates. she was booked without bail in connecton to their escape but authorities now say further investigation is needed. we hope you'll join us sunday before the big game... fox5 and our take 5 to care partners

down, shots fired. , " it happened last tuesday, near pecos and bonanza. metro says 35- year-old "gilberto guitierrez stole a gunpoint, and lost he ditched the neighborhood while police looked for him. off-duty officer samuel solorio was on his way home from work and spotted him. he says feared guitierrez was going to car-jack him, and shot him. metro says guitierrez has a history of stealing cars. frustration is good description of what you look at when you have to deal with these incidents. very lengthy criminal history. a lot is property crimes and stolen motor vehicle issue in valley significant. group of motorcyclists get into an altercation...then. ..somebody pulls out a gun. fox five's elizabeth watts has the video and the details. nats driving a group motorcycle ride to the desert saturday escalated when a gun was pulled on a rider.. it starts here on the left a blue truck and a rider get into it after the rider road in the desert kicking up dust... but the red truck on the right wasn't happy about it either... the rider recording the video says the passengers were flipping him off and that's when he approached... get the gun why you flipping me off i didn't do nothing crossing traffic etc sot honestly say i didn't think that i'd get a gun put in the face for going up to the guys window the rider who wants to remain anonymous- somehow remained calm... and just tried to reason with them.. he says he was in a moment of shock and in hindsight he would never have approached... especially when he watched the video back later

the a north las vegas man accused of kidnapping an arizona teen and holding her captive for nearly a month... he now faces 83 charges. 3 new victims have come forward claiming they were assaulted by jimmy kim. police say the 26- year-old sexually assaulted the teen numerous times at his north las vegas home...before she escaped in december. kim is being held on 1-and-a-half million dollars bail. n-v energy has a few ideas to restore the public utilities commission's relationship with solar customers. but those ideas would only apply to existing solar customers who installed or applied for solar by september 10th of 2015. one, is for solar customers to move into the higher rates over 4 years. another calls for them to keep their old rates for 20 years. commissioners are debating whether "grandfathering" solar customers is a good idea. last month, the p-u-c voted to raise solar rates... angering customers and forcing several solar companies
