and i'm maria silva. welcome to fox5 news this morning. first - cassandra jones joins us with a quick look at the fox 5 weather 24-7 forecast. good morning it will be another cold start to the day with temperatures dropping to near freezing. we begin a slight warming trend today with a high of 53 degrees today with additional warming through the weekend. we will stay in the cool territory with mid and upper 50s for the next two afternoons. with a light breeze for both days. we'll be closer to average

more than 1- thousand years... district attorney steve wolfson says the charges reflect the amount of people impacted by holloway's actions. at her last court appearance, holloway's attorneys said that they need more time to review her medical records. later this month, a judge will decide whether or not a 20-year-old man accused of waving an unloaded handgun at drivers and tourists on the las vegas strip is competent to stand trial. the hearing for kahleal black is set for february 19th. his public defender said she's seeking a mental health evaluation because black showed clear signs of mental illness at a court appearance a week ago.. black is jailed on 2-million dollars bail. a man was killed in a crash after suffering a medical episode. this happened just before six last night on cheyenne and buffalo. police say a man in his 50's was behind the wheel when he had some sort of medical episode. they say the woman passenger had to take control of the van and ran into a pole. the man was taken

where he died. the woman was not injured. two more republicans drop out of the race for the white house as the two remaining democrats pound away at one another in the lead up to new hampshire. fox news correspondent doug luzader has the latest.. (on cam intro) rand paul and rick santorum are out -- one of them offered a big endorsement. meantime, among democrats, hillary clinton and bernie sanders are playing the expectations game in new hampshire. while hillary clinton and bernie sanders made separate appearances at this town hall show last night in new hampshire, they clearly had their sights set on one another. clinton says "..good ideas on paper are important, but, you've got to be able to translate them into action to get results for people." sanders says "..i do not know any progressive who has a super pac and takes $15 million from wall street. that's just not progressive."

stinging a bit from iowa even though he came in a strong second -- and, questioning how some delegates were chosen by coin flips. republican donald trump going a step further, accusing iowa g-o-p winner ted cruz of cheating by sending out official looking mailers in iowa urging wayward voters to caucus. trump says "..what he did is a disgrace and it's a disgrace to the electoral process to be honest with you, greta." and while cruz and marco rubio -- who came in a strong third in iowa -- try to build on their momentum heading into new hampshire, two others have given up. rand paul's libertarian and isolationist messaging never really caught traction as national security became a focus. and, rick santorum -- who won iowa back in twenty twelve -- is also out, throwing his support behind rubio. santorum says "..he is the new generation and someone that can bring this country together, not just moderates and conservatives but young and old." (on cam tag) and, that embrace of rubio stressing his youth, that's the sort of thing we may see more and

republicans as rubio rides that big wave from iowa. in washington, doug luzader, fox news. rancher ammon bundy has been indicted by a federal grand jury. the sealed indictment includes the oregon standoff leader-- and ten others who were arrested so far... implying the four protestors who are still occupying the malheur national wildlife refuge could also be indicted. the indictment will be made public in 24 hours. defense attorneys demanded that prosecutors immediately release the document, so they could know what charges their clients face.-- but that request was denied. "(rep. matt cartwright / d- pennsylvania) "can anybody tell me why the governor is michigan isn't here today? because he is hiding, that's what's happening." key michigan officials were absent from a congressional hearing yesterday on the flint water crisis. the committee is demanding answers as to why the problem went unaddressed for so long. this as the michigan

health and human services is investigating if the lead-tainted water is causing skin rashes. the huge recall of deadly takata airbags is expanding to include more recent car models. the airbags are at risk for exploding as they inflate, firing out shards of metal, and causing serious injuries --possibly even death... takata notified the 12-affected automakers...that more recent airbags are also at risk of exploding. honda is alerting auto dealers to prepare for more recalls of models newer than 2008. in more local news... metro is apologizing after its 9-1-1 system crashed and was out for almost seven hours the system-- which was updated late last year-- went wn on tuesday around 3:30pm-- leaving callers with emergencies... stranded. 9-1-1 and 3-1-1 callers- got a busy tone or message... and police say between 30 and 50 minutes went by where calls could not be answered at all.

" the new system was installed after the old system crashed last june. that new system cost two point three million dollars. nevada senator harry reid discussed our state's solar battle on the senate floor... he and maine senator angus king are working on a bill to help solar customers. "this amendment is good for nevada and customers across the country. it will safeguard people and let them generate their own clean energy from retroactive rural changes that could devastate their finances " senator reid spoke about how far americans have come in embracing solar energy. back in 2005, just seven thousand americans had solar power... that number is up to half a million today. he wants to protect roof-top solar customers from utility groups making it difficult for americans to generate their own electricity. he specified he'd fight retroactive rate hikes and fees.

recently announced seven ideas to grandfather existing solar customers into their lower rates. but the customers would have had to sign an agreement by september 10th, 2015. happening today-- the downtown project is urging you to share some love.... after vandals hit the "love locket" sculpture last month, fox5 was told the alleged vandals hooked a truck up to the front of the sculpture and ripped off the front piece. today you can fill the locket with love notes-- it's all happening at 3:30pm at the downtown container park. we're hearing mixed reaction, to a new health guideline for women. it's warning to women... about alcohol... see why it was made... and what it could mean. las vegas is known as the city of sin. but a new study reveals that title now belongs to another city. next... the city taking the number one spot... as the most sinful.

youre pregnant doctor daliah wachs says the government's message may seem odd but she sees it often.. dr. daliah wachs/ the dr daliah show the cdc likes to make guidelines they like to remind us. i can't tell you how many women i go "youre pregnant" and the first thing they go is oh my gosh i've been drinking or i got drunk on saturday or i did this. doctor daliah says there's no way of knowing how much alcohol could be safe for a growing baby... so it's best to not have any at all... she says while mom may feel fine with a drink baby could be getting alcohol intoxicated... dr. daliah wachs/ the dr daliah show the fetus metabolizes alcohol mom may be already eliminating it in her liver. eliminating it inher kidneys. butbaby its compounding is compounding. doctor daliah advises people to always expect you can get pregnant... so practice safe control and be aware. warns women that drinking can cause a host of other problems including cancer and violence.

responded to the message saying while prevention is a worthy goal... the c-d-c's view on alcohol is absurd... and says advising all fertile women to avoid alcohol isn't a realistic solution to the problem. united airlines and delta airlines will allow staff members who are pregnant or are planning to become pregnant to opt-out of flights headed to areas where the zika virus is a concern. the world health organization has declared a global health emergency because of the mosquito-borne virus. zika has been linked to neurological problems and babies being born with abnormally small heads. at this time... there is no treatment or vaccine for the virus. the criminal case againist comedian bill cobsy is moving forward. on wednesday a judge ruled against cosby's motion to dismiss the case.. cosby's lawyers argued the case should be dismissed because of a promise made not to prosecute him some 10-years ago, by the then- district attorney. if cosby agreed to testify in civil court, which he did and the case was settle.

attorney's office is under new leadership and say there's new evidence to pursue criminal sexual assault charges against the actor. colorado police are investigating a former surgical technician who medication meant for patients... and possibly exposed about 3- thousand people to h-i-v, hepatitis b or hepatitis c. the tech was employed at "swedish medical center" from august 2015 to the end of january. the hospital say there is no evidence of patient exposure. but they are offering free and confidential testing to anyone who had surgery during the time of the tech's employment. a federal lawsuit claims cvs jacked up prices on generic prescription drugs by submitting claims to third-pary payors and inflating prices.... while those with cash pay much less. the lawsuit was filed by 7 customers across the country. c-v-s wouldn't comment on the lawsuit but said co-pays are

patient's health insurance. new hampshire's primary is coming up and only two up and only two democrats are still standing hillary clinton and bernie sanders made back-to-back appeals to new hampshire voters in last night's c- n-n town hall. (hillary clinton/(d) presidential candidate) "i am a progressive who gets results." (sen. bernie sanders/(d) presidential candidate) "secretary clinton said well i'm paraphrasing, some people call me a moderate and i proudly say that i am a moderate. i love moderates but you can't be a moderate and a progressive, they are different. wednesday's new hampshire town hall was a clash of the titles... the state holds the nation's first presidential primary in less than a week.. and it remains to be seen whether clinton's progressive pitch will win over democrats in the granite state... recent polls show sanders with a double digit lead. while clinton and sanders had their sparring session... their supporters are getting on each other's nerves too. here in las vegas

" people said that they tried to dampen our endoresement today, and i definitely said i came here i crossed a river because there was no other method available to my family, and a little water's not gonna harm us." activist astrid silva took some heat on twitter after announcing her support for hillary clinton the most visible critizism came from sander's latino press secretary erika andiola... " i knew that there would be people that disagreed with it, unfortunately some people disagreed a lot more, but again thats peoples opinnion and its great people are expressing themselves." andiola, a fellow dreamer, called clinton's dreamer support event a press hit, saying sanders and his team are organizing with dreamers not just showcasing them... clinton herself jumped online to defend silva, calling her part of the team...

larger battle, as the nevada caucus inches closer and closer, sander's campaign is busy making calls trying to take the support experts say hillary holds in the silver state... "bernie's opportunity in the next two weeks is going to be to try to motivate hispanics and the younger millenials to get out and participate because they like his message." they say sander's biggest challenge will be to get his millenial support group out to the caucus, but his nevada campaign leaders say iowa was a clear example that those feeling the bern shouldnt be underestimated " of the people who showed up to caucus in iowa, it was something like 80 percent were caucusing for bernie, so it is a challenge but its also time for people to stand up and were going to show them that young people are excited and the excitement that were talking about is going to translate on caucus day." miguel martinez- valle, fox5 news local las vegas. nevada's democratic caucus is february 20th and the republican one follows on february 23rd. dash cameras are becoming more

and not just police are using them. the number of civilians opting to use the recording device has increased. the cameras are able to shoot in a higher quality and faster rates-- and if something goes down... it's often times these dash cam videos that show what really happened. "(sgt. richard strader, metro)there's always those sections of the story that we dont have, and so if we can pull a video and connect that dot...those are good uses of those cameras and they realy help put people who are victimizing other people away. 2016. mayor andy hafen delivered the state of the city address at green valley ranch resort yesterday. he highlighted being the first city in the state to offer a 9-1-1 texting service, and talked about economic growth mayor hafen did say despite the city's growth, there have been no new fire stations or police stations built since the early 2000's... and noted it is something that will soon be necessary. it's not yet swimsuit season... but we're getting closer/ downtown grand held a casting call for its upcoming pool season. yesterday, employers held on site interviews... for servers, bartenders and pool attendants. "ultimately it is the ownership's decision. it requires 24 of the 32 owners to approve any relocation to any market. obviously there are specific
