see how the beloved canine is doing this morning. we begin with breaking news on valley roads. good morning i'm dave hall. and i'm maria silva. welcome to fox5 news this morning. a man is dead after he was hit by a suspected drunk driver who plowed through a red light at russell and decatur. fox five's shannon moore is live at the scene... with the latest... shannon? it happened around 130 - according to police the driver of that black car there ran the light then slammed into the white car you see there in the middle the intersection here at decatur and russell. the driver of the white toyota was taken to the hospital and later died. the guy behind the wheel of that black car -- was arrested for suspicion of dui ... police say he failed a sobriety test and was showing signs of impairment. i actually spoke with the passenger of that black car who told he and his friend were coming home from a nightclub.. i asked if his friend was showing any signs

like swervibg or speeding --- he fine. now the passenger also told me that he actually jumped out of the car and tried to help the victim was slouched over the steering unresponsive when asked if he knew anything he told me he heard another witness tell police he was a bartender at the orleans. officers didn't confirm that information with me all they knew was that he was an asian male. this stretch of road, a busy one for the morning commute - fortunately there are plenty alternate routes around the crash site. just be aware of that as you head out the door this am. crews will be out here for several more hours more breaking news now... metro police are investigating an overnight shooting that occured on the las vegas strip near new york, new york. police say 2 vehicles were traveling south boulevard. they turned onto tropicana and that's when shots were fired from a black sedan. the bullets struck the other the male driver

two home invasion suspects accused of breaking into a home and shooting a man inside. it happened early saturday morning near pacific and basic road. police say the suspects shot a 32-year-old man several times. there were three children in the home, but they were not hurt. the victim was taken to sunrise hospital with critical injuries. police do not believe this was a random home invasion. thieves are busting up neighborhood mail boxes and stealing mail... it's an especially sensitive time to lose mail. "well of course this is the tax season this is the worst time to have something ripped open." this neighborhood near american pacific and stephanie was recently hit by mail thieves. the big concern with lost w-2's is someone getting your social

street. it happened last night near lake mead and rancho. north las vegas police say the victim was not in a crosswalk when he was hit. the man was taken to u-m-c in critical condition. police have not said if impairment or speed were a factor in the crash. in the east valley... police are searching for the person who shot a man and left him for dead. the victim was found yesterday morning on mountain vista near vegas valley drive and taken to the hospital. no word on his condition this morning. two people are recovering after they were stabbed near rancho drive and lake mead boulevard. the victims were taken to u-m-c. police have not said why they were stabbed. president obama says he will nominate a replacement for the late supreme court justice antonin scalia. but republicans are vowing to let the next president pick the next nomination. white house officials are discussing federal judges and some senators as possible nominations. experts say the supreme court nomination will be a huge issue this election year...

we begin with that breaking news on valley roads. good morning i'm dave hall. and i'm maria silva. welcome to fox5 news this morning. a man is dead after he was hit by a suspected drunk driver who plowed through a red light at russell and decatur. fox five's shannon moore is live at the scene... what's going on down there shannon? it happened around 130 - according to police the driver of that black car there ran the light then slammed into the white car you see there in the middle the intersection here at decatur and russell. the driver of the white toyota was taken to the hospital and later died. the guy behind the wheel of that black car -- was arrested for suspicion of dui ... police say he failed a sobriety test and was showing signs of impairment. i actually spoke with the passenger of that black car who told he and his friend were coming home from a nightclub.. i asked if his friend was showing any signs of being drunk prior to the crash... like swervibg or
