strong winds whipped across the valley, causing some major delays at mccarran airport. it was definitely a white knuckle ride for people flying in and out of town... the f-a-a says the strong winds delayed arriving flights by about an hour on average. some winds in the northwest valley were recorded as high as 63 miles an hour. the winds are expected to be

dead... police say he shouldn't have been on the road in the first place! "the facts of the matter of this is we have two people who shouldn't have been driving vehciles. one dirving without a motorcycle license and the driver of the car had an instruction permit." police say a 19 year old motorcycle rider and an 18-year-old driver crashed into each other at washington and michael way. the motorcycle rider was taken to umc where he later died. police say the 18 year driver of the car was driving alone and only had a permit. the motorcyclist was not licensed at all... no word yet if speed played a role in this crash. a pedestrian was hit and killed about a half an hour later. police say a the driver of a pickup truck hit the victim near eastern and tropicana. the pedestrian died at sunrise hospital. police have not said if the pedestrian was in a crosswalk at the time of the crash.

water... and the entire thing was caught on camera. "you could hear it, it was sputtering, white smoke was coming out of the back of the helicopter." "i definitely thought it was part of the tour, i thought they were just getting close and i mean when someone screamed everyone get down, i was like, we just turned and ran." five people were on board the chopper when it went down near ford island. at least three people were hurt. hundreds of tourists were watching when the helicopter slammed into the water... those people rushing to pull the victims to safety. a minnesota photographer captures a natural phenomenon on lake superior. steady winds and negative temperatures caused what is called "ice stacking." it happens when wind blows a sheet of ice off of a lake and onto land. the ice hits the shore in waves -- breaking up into pieces like glass. have you ever experienced a "hairy panic??" it has nothing to do with unwanted moustaches ladies... it's a a strain of tumbleweed in australia. truckloads of hairy panic are filling streets and yards. it's summertime down under, and dry conditions bumper crop of the tumbleweed. fluffy weeds are piled as high as the roof tops. and get this... the city won't help with the cleanup considered a fire risk. locals believe it is coming from a nearby field that a farmer has failed

while some babies may get a slight rise in their temperature while teeth are growing , it usually does not cause a full- fledged fever or any other signs of illness. health experts say parents often mistake symptoms such as fever, sores or blisters around the mouth and loss of appetite to teething.. but these symptoms are rarely related. as for helping babies get through the teething period.. doctors advise against medication and say babies can find relief by chewing on a cooled teething ring or wet washcloth. if you're always tired. it could be because of where you live. a new study by the c-d-c shows one out of every three american adults doesn't get enough sleep on a regular basis. overall they found about 35 percent of adults get less than seven hours of sleep a night... here in nevada more than 60 percent fall in that group. the c-d-c says this

looking for. when we called, they simply confirmed they were investigating, but wouldn't give us details. at least a half a dozen local law enforcement cars were in front of leavitt's home yesterday. we also talked to the bureau of reclamation, and ll bradford. they also would not comment on the raids. rancher cliven bundy is headed back to nevada... to face his 16 count indictment. bundy was supposed to appear in a portland courtroom for a preliminary hearing today, but that got canceled. the rancher was indicted on wednesday, on charges related to the 2014 armed standoff against fedreal officials. he went to portland to see his sons, who were arrested after taking over a wildlife refuge. his sons ammon and ryan are also included in the nevada indictment. in international news... pope francis is taking another bold stance... the pope says contraceptives may be used to prevent the spread of the zika virus. this goes against the church's long-standing ban on most forms of

k-9 officer nicky is making great strides in his recovery after he was attacked with a machete. the beloved canine stopped by our studio yesterday for our "behind the badge" segment. even after the attack, this dog has no fear. extremely brave and courageous and they go places that i probably wouldn't wanna go so they definitely serve a great purpose but look at this dog's face now and if i'm in patrol i'm calling sergeant kerns and nicky!" nicky is in great spirits and will be back on the job once his stitches have healed. his handler, sergeant kerns, says all nicky wants to do is get

and police say he shouldn't have been on the road in the first place! matter of this is we have two people who shouldn't have been driving vehciles. one motorcycle license the car had an instruction permit." police say a 19 year old motorcycle rider and an 18-year-old driver crashed into each other at washington and michael way. the motorcycle rider was taken to umc where he later died. police say the 18 year driver of the alone and only the motorcyclist was not licensed. no word yet if speed played a role in this crash. a pedestrian was hit and killed about a half an hour later. police say a the driver of a pickup truck hit the victim near eastern and tropicana. the pedestrian died at sunrise hospital. police have not said if the pedestrian was in a crosswalk at the time of the

oregon have approved legislation to raise the minimum wage. the minimum wage in the state right now is 9-25 -- already one of the highest in the nation. the new plan will impose gradual increases over the next 8 years... so that by 20-20... the minimum wage in portland would be 14-75... and 13-50 in smaller cities like salem and eugene. oregon governor kate brown has already confirmed she'll sign the legislation into law. in more local news. just four months after an intentionally set fire ripped apart an east las vegas home - the same house is now the scene of another fire investigation. this is what is left after a fire ripped through the vacant home near charleston and lamb wednesday night. that home was the center of a homicide investigation last november. mario jimenez was killed. inside two women burned and bound and a child left all alone. yesterday, the

k-9 officer nicky is making great strides in his recovery after he was attacked with a machete. the beloved canine stopped by our studio yesterday for our "behind the badge" segment. even after the attack, this dog has no fear. "these dogs are extremely brave and courageous and they go places that i probably wouldn't wanna go so they definitely serve a great purpose but look at this dog's face now and if i'm in patrol i'm calling sergeant kerns and nicky!" nicky is in great spirits and will be back on the job once his stitches have healed. his handler, sergeant kerns, says all nicky wants to do is get back to work. i bet nikki could totally do this. watch as these brave pups hang ten with their owner.
