breaking overnight.. metro is investigating 3 seperate shootings.. that left 2 people dead. the first one happened on lake

young man was found lying outside of a vehicle in a parking lot around 8 last night. he was apparently shot in the chest. the victim died about a half an hour later at u- m-c. police have not found a suspect. around the same time... shots were fired near twain and paradise. metro says the victim in this shooting also died. homicide detectives are still investigating police are calling this shooting an isolated incident. and.. the victim in a third shooting survived. metro says shots were fired outside a home on autumn valley... near durango and gowan last night. it appears there was some sort of fight that led up to the shooting. the victim is expected to be okay. if you have any information on any of these shootings call crime stoppers at 702-385-55-55. metro's annual 3 on 3 youth basketball tournament is a couple weeks away but they're asking kids ages 6 to 12 to register now. this event is part of their safe neighborhood initiative so we sent fox5's peter

one and oh.. the rebels haven't had this kind of a record in 7 years.. but thanks to a 9 touchdown performance. thursday night against jackson state. u-n-l-v and their fans had a lot to celebrate.. head coach tony sanchez had his men ready to play last night.. and jackson state really didn't have a chance new quarterback johnny stanton looked sharp.. he hit basic high school star devonte boyd for 3 touchdowns in the first half.. this game was over before most people had downed their first bud lights.. rebels score 42 in the first half.. and go on to for the easy 63-13 win.. here are some of the sights and sounds of their week one double- u..

this family of black bears seemed to really enjoy the water.. giving a hug to mom -- who was playing lifeguard. the mother and her cubs even jumped into a second neighbor's pool.. working up an appetite. they eventually found a dumpster to forge through.. but there's no such thing as a free lunch.. a brave little beagle barked at them.. promptly ending the bears' buffet. where were you when this song was hot? showing its appreciation for local first responders this labor day. the chain will be delivering a big "thank you" lunch to our community heroes monday. more than 800 restaurants around the county are participating this year. since 2002... more than 10-thousand meals have been served to our nation's first responders. september is national month.. and to prep for any emergencies.. the red cross is asking the public to help save lives by donating blood. not many people donate during holidays.. but it's actually when blood donations are needed most.. so now through tuesday.. the red cross will be giving donators free duffle bags. there are over a dozen opportunities to donate this week.. for a full list of donation sites.. and what times they run.. visit our website fox-5-vegas-dot- com. some local landmarks are "going gold" to raise awareness

"welcome to fabulous las vegas" sign are now gold instead of yellow.. in honor of a month-long campaign called "shine-gold." it's designed to raise awareness and resources for children battling cancer. the fremont street experience canopy is also participating.. as well as the "one" building at downtown summerlin.. las vegas city hall.. and the high roller observation wheel. the "why" ranch is lassoing up some fun for their 3rd- annual round-up. the ranch - located near durango and windmill- gives "socially- challenged" students a chance to blossom.. allowing them to interact with animals like horses.. ultimately boosting their self confidence. the event-- held on september 10-- will help raise money to keep ranch programs going. not only is it a lot of fun a lot of food a lot of raffles, this is where we fundraise for our program. there will be a live band.. games.. and cocktails for the parents.

responders are getting a special treat this labor day thanks to olive garden. the restaurant chain will be delivering a big "thank you" lunch to our community heroes monday. more than 800 restaurants around the county are participating this year. si than 10-thousand meals have been served to our nation's first responders. september is national preparedness month.. and to prep for any emergencies.. the red cross is asking the public to help save lives by donating blood. not many people donate during holidays.. but it's actually when blood donations are needed most.. so now through tuesday.. the red cross will be giving donators free duffle bags. there are over a dozen opportunities to donate this week.. for a full list of donation sites.. and what times

com. some of our local landmarks are "going gold" to raise awareness for childhood cancer. the bulbs on the "welcome to fabulous las vegas" sign are now gold instead of yellow.. in honor of a month-long campaign called "shine-gold." it's designed to raise awareness and resources for children battling cancer. the fremont street experience canopy is also participating.. as well as the "one" building at downtown summerlin.. las vegas city hall.. and the high roller observation wheel. lassoing up some fun for their 3rd- annual round-up. the ranch - located near durango and windmill- gives "socially- challenged" students a chance to blossom.. allowing them to interact with animals like horses.. ultimately boosting their self confidence. the event-- held on september 10-- will help raise money to keep ranch programs going. not only is it a lot of fun a lot of food a lot of raffles, this is where we fundraise for our program.
