will return to class this morning. the campus has been cleared of all mercury as well as eight homes in the surrounding area. fox5's peter dawson is live outside the school with the latest developments the five-day mercury clean up process is over and students will return to class here at walter johnson junior high school after the entire school has been thoroughly cleaned and checked. ccsd and the epa made statements yesterday that they feel confident they have identified all all contaminated areas on campus. air filters have been replaced, carpet, tiles and a 25x30 section of the gym floor has been removed. the epa also said they have checked eighty homes and only one home was

henderson teenager who has been missing for a year. this is 17-year-old ellen perna. she may go by the nickname ellie. the teenager was last seen on september 14th of last year. the national center for missing and exploited children thinks the teen may have traveled to las vegas. call 1-800-the-lost if you think you've seen her. breaking overnight... crews knocked down a fire in a valley backyard. firefighters responded to reports of flames around 1-15 this morning.. near pecos and charleston. the home appeared to be vacant.. and firefighters are looking into whether it was started by

after days of clean up efforts to remove all mercury from campus. but the biggest question is still unanswered, who's responsible for bring it on campus? fox5's peter dawson is live outside the school with the latest. ccsd and the epa say the source of the mercury is still under investigation. they the mercury is still under investigation. they believe is came from off campus since this school doesn't have a chemistry lab but would not elaborate if one or more students have been identified as the source. they did mention this investigation is now being handled by clark county school police. ccsd and the epa made statements yesterday that they feel confident they have identified all all contaminated areas on campus. air filters have been replaced, carpet, tiles and a 25x30 section of the gym floor has

epa also said they have checked eighty homes and only one home was found to have dangerous mercury vapor levels. the family was removed from the house as the epa cleaned and removed all toxins. ccsd wants to reassure all parents that walter johnson is once again safe. they've also done an extensive job checking homes where students may have tracked things away from the school. "the national guard is actually the one that did the checking, he had a machine, it was a handheld device, and he went room by room and checked my vacuum, checked the washer, checked the dryer, checked every nook corner and cranny." during their debriefing meeting, authorities from the school district, police and epa say that be communication between students inside the building and worried parents outside couldn't of been improved. cell phone access for all students and charging station outside for parents are being discussed. more improvements are expected as debriefing between these agencies continues. students will have to make up 3 school days, ccsd is trying to scheduled these make up days during november. students should
