breaking news out of iowa from last night's caucus. after a very close race, nbc news just declared hillary clinton the apparent winner in last night's race among democrats. on the republican side, ted cruz topped donald trump. let's get right to 10 on your side's rico bush who's live in the newsroom with details. rico.

clinton has squeaked out a very small victory against senator bernie sanders based off final numbers from the iowa democratic party. overnight, the results of the caucuses were so close both candidates were locked in a dead heat. the party described the race between the democratic front-runner and sanders as the closest they have ever had in the state. this is where the numbers stand right now. a razor thin win for the former secretary of state against sanders. let's crunch some numbers for you to give you idea of why this race is so according to entrance polls, on the democratic side, voters who wanted experience and wanted the next president to continue obama policies largely went for clinton. clinton also did especially well with people over 65, married women and moderates. looking at sanders, younger voters and people who valued honesty and candidate went overwhelmingly for him. he also picked up a lot of support from first-time caucus-goers

police - a pick-up truck was traveling on llewellyn avenue when it hit the minivan in the intersection of west 27th street. that's in the park place neighborhood. witnesses ran to the scene to help. the young boys, and the mother behind the wheel went to the hospital. the 9-year-old died. 10 on your side spoke with the surviving boy's sister. kasaera mcclenny - surviving boy's sister c71 19:38:38 "he's doing okay, he has bruised lungs and a slight concussion." 19:39:08 "sad because that could have been my brother." paramedics treated the pick-up truck driver and his only passenger at the scene for minor injuries. police say they are still investigating the accident. hundreds of people showed up to remember a family last night. friends, relatives and total strangers attended the service for the dooleys at deep creek baptist church in chesapeake, including law enforcement from all over the region. there were several tributes to todd dooley's 27 year career with the police department. patriot guards riders were also there to stand

before and during the ceremony. law enforcement officer. so that's why we're here. to show our honor and respect for his life. :28 all six members of the family were found dead in two chesapeake homes last week. police tell us 26 year old cameron dooley shot his family and then killed himself. funeral plans have not been publicly announced. in norfolk, family and friends held a vigil for a mother of seven children. police say one of 43-year-old sonya hunter's sons shot and killed her over the weekend. investigators found her on westcliff drive saturday, and they say she died at the hospital. family tells us the suspect, 22-year-old shawn hunter, struggled with mental health issues. c0020 06;40 she had 7 kids it's a tragedy my brother could do that to our mom -- i would like to see him spend the rest of his

did. hunter is in jail without bond this morning. he faces a second degree murder charge. police have not released a motive. happening today, chesapeake residents can learn more about contaminated water in their community. the navy is holding a public meeting. 10 on your side first reported the issue near fentress a couple of weeks ago. test results showed that drinking water near the field had high levels of dangerous chemicals. the navy is providing drinking water to affected residents. tonight's meeting will be held at butts road intermediate school on mount pleasant road from 4 to 7 p-m. the navy, e-p-a, the city and state agencies will talk with residents . chesapeake residents could see a new project in the western branch area. one council member is proposing a new fieldhouse to revitalize the area around chesapeake square. the building would house team sports events like volleyball and basketball.

restaurant. 2-7 tree crashing into building surveillance video caught the whole thing on camera. it happened just north of los angeles. strong winds sent the 150-foot tall palm tree through the building. the tree narrowly missed four people seated outside on the patio. it landed on a tiki statue. there's a lot of damage, but amazingly no one was hurt. this morning, the restaurant is closed until the owner can make repairs. a man finally returned an overdue library book, 71 years after he checked it out! frank ryan says he checked out the book, "football through the years" in 1944. he says he forgot he even had it until his wife died back in december. his daughter was cleaning out some things and came across it. ryan was afraid to call the library because he thought he might go to jail. library
