now to the breaking news night's caucuses. n-b-c news reported hillary clinton as the apparent winner of the iowa democratic caucus. that's base off a report from the iowa democratic party chair. but in what some may consider a surprising victory on the republican side, ted cruz won, beating out donald trump. let's get to rico bush with more on the election rico - katie, don, ted cruz's

pick up eight delegates for the gop party nomination. donald trump and marco rubio each get seven. last night's g-o-p caucuses show us this race is far from over. several candidates have gained momentum while others are starting to fade from the race. with nearly all votes in from the gop caucuses, cruz is ahead of trump 28 percent to 24 percent, but this morning biggest narrative is marco rubio, who had a stronger-than- expected showing and sits at 23 percent in iowa. so, how did cruz do it? entrance polls showed religious voters, who made up two-thirds of caucus goers, favored cruz over trump and rubio. of those who stated cruz also bested trump and rubio by a small margin. after declaring victory last night, cruz said in his speech his win shows the power of his supporters against the establishment. s/ sen. ted cruz / (r) wins iowa caucus - pl15m tonight is a victory for

it happened around 6:30 he died at the scene. police say they are still reaching out to the man's family, so they can't tell us who he is yet. the driver was not hurt. police have not said anything about charges. the father of a missing virginia teen, found murdered, wants answers. david lovell went to the courthouse yesterday as two virginia tech students faced a judge in connection to his daughter, nicole's, death. police charged david eisenhauer with murder and abudction after they found the missing teen's body this past weekend. they also charged natalie keepers with improper disposal of a body and accessory after the fact. both are being held without bond. lovell just wants answers. 10.38.12 david lovell/nicole's father "these two individuals took my daughter from this planet and i want to know why and i want all the information i can get." warrants for the two virginia tech students showed no firearms were used in lovell's death. these are the details her father says will be hard to hear. this morning a father

about his missing two-year-old. this after police arrested the girl's step-mother in new york. cornelius simmons last saw his daughter, ariellisa, more than two months ago. both simmons' daughter and wife, andrea watkins-simmons were reported missing in november. yesterday officers arrested watkins- simmons on abduction charges. ariellisa was nowhere to be found. breaking news out of iowa from last night's caucus. after a very close race, nbc news just declared hillary clinton the apparent winner in last night's race among democrats. on the republican side, ted cruz topped donald trump. let's get right to 10 on your side's rico bush who's live in the newsroom with a very small victory against senator bernie sanders based off final numbers from the iowa democratic party. overnight, the results of the caucuses were so close both candidates were locked in a dead heat. the party described the race between the democratic front-runner and sanders as the closest they have ever had in the state.

respect for his life. :28 all six members of the family were found dead in two chesapeake homes last week. police tell us 26 year old cameron dooley shot his family and then killed himself. funeral plans have not been publicly announced. in norfolk, family and friends held a vigil for a mother of seven children. police say one of 43-year-old sonya hunter's sons shot and killed her over the weekend. investigators found her on westcliff drive saturday, and they say she died at the hospital. family tells us the suspect, 22-year-old shawn hunter, struggled with mental health issues. c0020 06;40 she had 7 kids it's a tragedy my brother could do that to our mom -- i would like to see him spend the rest of his life in jail for what he did. hunter is in jail without bond this morning. he faces a second degree murder charge.
