for watching "early today."y." firefighters are on the scene of a high- rise fire on shore drive near the lesner bridge. crews say they got the call just before 4:00 this morning. when they arrived, they say the found heavy smoke on the first floor. investigators say someone left a pot on a stove. they did not evacute the building. no one was hurt. we start off this breezy morning with a check on your weather and traffic. jen lewis is keeping an eye out on any problems on the road. and meteorologist jeremy wheeler is tracking the chance of some more winter weather?

crews are working to get everyone's power back on. they estimate power will be restored any time between now and seven this morning. this morning, we expect to learn more about a 21-year-old man shot and killed in norfolk. police say someone shot him to death yesterday morning on anderson street. and, the killer is still on the loose. a family friend tells 10 on your side, the victim called his brother shortly before it happened. rico bush has been working to learn more about that possible distress call. he's live at the norfolk police department. rico, what more can you tell us? lex, don, police have not said much about that call nor have they mentioned anything about a suspect in this deadly shooting. while information is still limited in the case, two young children we talked to yesterday may hold the answer in helping police learn more about the crucial moments leading up to the shooting. for several hours yesterday, police and forensic teams centered

investigation around the 21-year-old's lifeless body on the sidewalk on anderson street. neighbors checked out the activity as police laid down evidence markers. investigators say someone shot the victim several times, before he died. shortly after the gunfire, detectives knocked on doors searching for clues. two young girls said they heard loud fighting before hearing, what they believe to be, the sound of the deadly gunshots. tiara tyson/neighbor ((c12 33:29)) "i was sleeping, a detective woke me up. i asked my kids they said they heard the gunshots." shaniqua tyson/neighbor ((c12 38:03)) "they were cussing at each other saying that you need to get out my house and stuff like that." shy'heaven reddick ((c12 37:14)) 37:26 "i heard gunshots." developing this morning, a little girl is safe after a state-wide ambert alert. this morning police are still searching for the girl's biological father. you may have gotten the alert on your phone yesterday. police in virginia were looking for three-year-old haven moses. the fluvanna county sheriff's office said her father violated his protection order and picked up haven from her caretaker's home on friday. we're still trying to learn why police waited two days to send the alert, but they're still looking for 25-year-old james moses this morning. they believe he may be around augusta county, near charlottesville. in case he is in our area, officers believe he could be driving a light-color sedan or virginia plates v-k-s-6171. this morning we have a 10 pass along. the norfolk sheriff's office tells us someone is impersonating a deputy and calling people asking for money. here's what you need to

and walking out of the news conference. panthers fans in charlotte weren't happy either. many walked right past a reporter as he tried to ask them questions. new this morning, the california highway patrol says the car north carolina governor pat mccrory was riding in, was rear-ended shortly after the super bowl. police say the governor complained of pain, but declined treatment. the governor's press secretary mccrory's car was totaled. after the accident governor mccrory got into another vehicle and went on his way. after the game the governor tweeted, "we are so proud of our carolina panthers for an amazing year. showed the u-s-a what north carolina is made of." a day after police found a man shot to death in broad daylight, we have more questions than answers. 10 on your side looks into a phone call the victim made before someone killed him. a local mayor says he plans to run for office again. 10 on your side looks at what he's done on the job so far. plus valentine's day is right around the corner.
