developing in newport news, police say they're investigating a second meth-making operation on the same street as a previous bust over the weekend. last night, investigators say they were following up on the first bust on middlesex road, just off warwick boulevard when evidence there led them to the second location across the parts of this investigation. rico, so far police have not arrested anyone, but they are questioning several people, including some who drove away from the scene. that's right, katie and don. police say investigators

people in that car, about the meth charges are pending. investigators say they found materials used for making meth at a first- floor unit at the hidenwood north apartments on middlesex road around seven last night. police say a man, woman and a 13-year- old boy were inside during the bust. while investigating the meth operation, detectives tell 10 on your side police pulled over a vehicle linked to the apartment that drove off from the scene. police found two women, a man, and a 4-year-old girl inside the vehicle at oyster point drive and nettles road. during the investigation, officers tell us they evacuated eight apartments at the complex as a precaution. c33 ofc. holly mcpherson - newport news police 7:51:11 "we have a particular apt building and you have other occupants in that building so we're trying

to make everyone safe" police say the teen boy and little girl are the children of one of the women in the vehicle that drove off from the apartment complex. officers handed them over to a family friend. as we mentioned, officers busted a meth lab at a home just across the street from the complex on sunday. police believe the incidents are connected. live in newport news, rico bush, katie back to you. as rico mentioned, police have not charged anyone in this latest investigation yet, but officers did charge a woman for sunday's bust. 28-year-old autumn wells faces charges for making meth and possesing heroin. officers say they found evidence inside the home on middlesex road and in a vehicle parked outside. she's now in the newport news city jail. a yorktown man is scheduled in court later this morning for a shooting that killed one person and injured three others. 18-year-old dijon whitter faces several charges

he's been behind bars without bond since the gloucester county deputies say whitter killed 18-year-old josh morrison near the intersection of ditchley road and gil lane. two 20-year-old men, and a 15-year-old girl were recovering. a newport news man is expected in court today accused of stabbing a man to death over drugs. antoine holland has a preliminary hearing scheduled later this morning. police say back in november he stabbed 55-year-old jose rodriguez in a home on arch street. 10 on your side was there as officers took holland into custody. he faces a first-degree murder charge. still ahead, new video showing the moments before and after a shocking crime. a woman faces serious charges for what police say she did in a restroom. plus, shoplifting gone violent. police are tracking a new trend that goes way beyond just stealing.

say he tried to run from them yesterday afternoon. police tried to pull over the silver ford focus harper was in, but he drove off and crashed into two cars, including an unmarked police cruiser. luckily, no one was seriously hurt. c38 20:03 - we did have a portsmouth police officer who was taken to the hospital as well as an adult female who was the driver of the gray honda accord that was struck by the suspect vehicle. after the second crash, police say harper and a passenger in the car ran off. officers put douglas park elementary and portsmouth christian school on lockdown while they searched for the suspects. they later found harper, but the second person who ran is still on the loose this morning. newport news police want your help to catch a man suspected in a double murder. officers are looking for 26-year-old stephen hayes. they believe he and another man shot and killed two people last month on 14th street near wickham avenue. investigators already arrested 33- year-old

shooting. officers shot him at the scene after they say he refused to cooperate. he went to the hospital for treatment and is now in police custody. if you can help police find hayes, call the crime line at 1-888-lock-u-up. you can remain anonymous, and you could get a reward. new this morning, surveillance video from inside a california mall captured a violent shoplifting incident. this is video from inside a j-c-penney in fresno. police say two women were stuffing about 180-dollars worth of merchandise in their purses. when a loss prevention agent tried to stop them, the women started hitting him. :35 - :40 sergeant mark hudson/fresno police department "this loss prevention agent actually was struck and bitten by one of the suspects" police say there were two other similar incidents this week. a man who allegedly stole more than five-thousand dollars worth of merchandise at home depot, hit an employee who tried to stop him. then on saturday, another man started fighting with a grocery store employee after police say

now an update to a story we first brought you yesterday on wavy news 10 midday. we can now show you new surveillance video of the woman who gave birth inside a california subway restaurant bathroom and then left baby. take a look at this video. you can see a woman wandering around the store before going into the bathroom. an employee checks on her, and then later the woman walks out of the store. employees called 9-1-1 after hearing the baby in the bathroom crying. 1:09 - 1:18 corporal rudy the store employees, as well, did. they did an outstanding job in taking care of the situation as they did." officers also say the subway employees locked down the store, and attended to the baby until emergency responders got there. the baby is in the hospital in critical condition. police caught up with the infant's mother and arrested her. this morning , 38-year-old mary grace trinidad faces attempted murder and child endangerment charges.

in the race for the white house, president barack obama weighed in on the current republican candidates. the president targeted the front- runner donald trump saying he did not think trump would be elected. (-- sot --) president barack obama :29 "i continue to believe mr. trump will not be president butt to it's not hosting a talk show or a reality show, it's not promotion, it's not marketing, it's hard." president obama also said other countries are troubled by the republican candidates' rhetoric. he specifically referenced trump's anti-muslim sentiment. trump wasted no time firing back at the commander in chief. we now know the funeral arraignements for supreme court justice antonin scalia. friday, his body will lie in repose in the great hall of the supreme court building. his funeral is scheduled for saturday. keeping in tradition, black wool drapes the late judge's chair, bench, and door leading into the marble courtroom. scalia sat to the right of chief justice john roberts, which is the seat given to the senior justice. scalia died saturday at age 79. developing this morning - a possible drug bust in newport news. this could be the second one on the same street within the last few days. rico bush has important investigation details coming up in a live report. plus, what's happening today with the future of light rail service in virginia beach. but first, stranded at the airport. you'll hear

nats of concert the utah students played an impromptu performance performing at the kennedy center, but the blast of snow and ice cancelled their flight. (s/orchestra students/ no super:54-1:05) "that was the weirdest place i've ever played" butted to "we just had that instinct to play music and it turned into being a giant concert in the middle of the airport. it was really really cool." apparently the performance helped calm other stranded passengers. the director says travel insurance helped students find rooms at a nearby hotel. the group is booked on flights to head home later today. developing this morning, police investigate

we have new information about a fire we first told you about last night at 11:00. firefighters in virgnia beach say the fire affected three townhomes on

newtown road. one firefighter was hurt, but should be okay. first responders from norfolk assisted. the red cross is helping at least five people find a new place to stay. we continue our coverage with developing news on the peninsula. this morning, newport news police are investigating a second possible meth operation on middlesex road. officers busted one on the same street over the weekend. it's only a couple houses down from the meth lab police found last night. investigators say a follow-up to sunday's bust led them to the second home across the street. rico bush is live at hidenwood north apartments near warwick boulevard. rico, you talked with detectives this morning - what's the latest? don, katie, investigators say they haven't arrested anyone yet, but tell me charges are coming for several people connected to the second meth

undercover agents say they discovered materials used for making meth in a first-floor apartment just before seven last night. police found a man, women and a 13-year- old boy inside the home. officers evacuated that apartment and several other homes as a safety precaution. while officers were investigating at the apartment, police say, a vehicle connected to the home pulled up, but immediately drove off. investigators followed that vehicle to oyster point drive and nettles road and stopped it. police found two women, a man, and a 4-year-old girl inside the car and questioned them about the meth operation. c33 ofc. holly mcpherson - newport news police 07:51:51 "there's a lot of people that we need to interview this evening and we still are in the very beginning stages of trying to get into the apartment to safely secure all of the items in there and there" police say the teen boy and the 4-year- old girl are the children of one

last year virginia beach city council voted to extend the tide from the current newtown road station, to town center. you can hear about the latest plans and ask your questions to transportation officials tonight. the meeting is at the westin hotel in town center from six to 7:30. virginia beach mayor will sessoms told state officials, he's committed to light rail. we've been telling you, transportation secretary aubrey layne told the city to use state funding for the project or lose it. layne says he cannot hold $155-million dollars from other projects if city council decides to take the issue to a referendum. out a new learning tool to students - chromebooks. high school students will recieve a laptop to take home with them. it's part of the state's push to fund e-learning. the computers arrived at schools yesterday. the goal is to get students engaged in learning beyond the classroom. now to a follow-up on a local school district's calendar. the virginia beach school board voted to remove some teaching days. instead of 183 school days, next year will have 181. the board says that will include two- and-a-half days of professional development for students and staff. supporters believed it would help the entire system run more smoothly. opponents said it would hurt hourly workers. developing this morning, apple says it will fight a judge's order that the technology company help fbi agents investigating the san bernardino terrorist attack. the california judge ordered apple to unlock an i-phone belonging to suspected shooter, syed rizwan. officials say he

people at a holiday party last year. the pair later died in a shootout with police. agents said they tried for two months to unlock the cell phone without success. this morning a woman faces a murder charge in her son's death. prosecutors in hampton say they've upgraded their case against tonya slaton, from concealing a body to second- degree murder. virginia state police say troopers found the remains of quincy davis in her car last june, when troopers pulled her over on i- 64. police tell us davis attended school in virginia beach, but no one had seen or heard from him since 2004. slaton is due in court next week. portsmouth's top attorney does not want police officers to wear their uniforms in court during a high-profile murder case involving a former officer. the commonwealth's attorney filed the request yesterday ahead of stephen rankin's murder trial. rankin faces charges for shooting and killing 18-year-old william chapman in april. police say chapman was unarmed when rankin confronted him in the walmart parking lot on frederick

and chapman's family say letting uniformed officers into court may influence the jury.
