(wavy) hampton police are investigating a deadly shooting that happened on powhatan parkway this morning. according hampton police, a man was shot multiple times inside a car just before 4:00 a.m. medics took the officers have brought police dogs to the scene to assist in the investigation. rico bush will bring you live updates from

developing right now, hampton police are searching for a missing teenager. take a good look at this picture officers tweeted out of 17-year-old jarrett ellis. they say he was last seen around 5:00 friday on evelyn court. that's in the southwestern part of the city near where mercury boulevard and jefferson avenue meet. police say jarrett suffers from a social disability. call hampton police at 727-6111 if you've seen him. a former sailor already serving time for rape in norfolk is expected to learn his fate today for another attack. amin garcia has a scheduled sentencing today for assaulting and

apple is coming under fire from the f-b-i after the company refused to help decrypt the iphone of one of the san bernardino shooters. f-b-i director james comey says it owes it to the victims to gain access to the cellphone used by gunman syed farook. he said the agency cannot look the survivors in the eye or themselves in the mirror if it doesn't follow this lead. a judge in california ordered apple to help, but the tech company believes this comes down to a privacy issue. it does not want to create a backdoor to open the locked iphone that potentially could fall into the hands of criminals, putting all customers at risk. director comey says this case is not about setting a precedent for these types of actions. he says it's about finding justice for the victims. now to new information about the fallout of a rolling stone article that alleged a gang rape at the university of virginia. the woman at the center of that now debunked article is expected to go to court.

order the woman, who is only identified as jackie in the article, to answers questions as part of a civil lawsuit. she's set to be deposed april 5th. according to newsweek, her court appearance is part of the on-going lawsuit, an associate dean at uva filed against rolling stone. nicole eramo is suing the magazine for defamation. she says the article depicted her as insensitve to claims that a student was sexually assaulted. new this morning, tragic news out of michigan. investigators say a family of six died because of carbon monoxide poisoning. a relative discovered the bodies of a couple and their four children in fenton township, just outside of detroit. the relative went by the family's home after they couldn't reach them. investigators say the children ranged in age from two to 11 years old. sheriff robert pickell/ genesee county, mi "no matter how long, no family wiped out is just

very sad thing." investigators say a generator was running on the lower level of their home after power outages friday night. amazingly no one was hurt in oklahoma after investigators say a natural gas explosion did this. it leveled one home, and damaged four others saturday afternoon. a real estate agent barely made it out in time. officials say he went to check the sprinkler system, opened the garage door, smelled gas, and then turned to leave. fire officials say he made it five steps out before the home exploded! again, he is okay, and no one else was hurt. people are mourning the loss of a beloved camden county waterman. he died after being badly burned in a fire. there was a church offering yesterday for captain jim brincefield. the camden county sheriff's office says a backyard burn barrel exploded friday. medics say when they found him in his home on pinch gut road, more than three- quarters of his body was

stolen. at that point i was like forget about it." 18:02:20 virginia beach police won't say whether or not they have any suspects. investigating. three people are on solid ground this morning after the coast guard rescued them from their boat that was taking on water. this all played out yesterday afternoon, about 40 miles southeast of the oregon inlet on the outer banks. the coast guard sent a helicopter and boat from elizabeth city to the 24-foot boat. they used a pump to get the water out of the boat, then towed the craft to land. no one was hurt. back now with a huge victory for chesterfield native denny hamlin. he literally inched his way to the finish in the closest daytona 500 finish in history. "woo! i'm telling you. i've got chills up my spine that was amazing!" "are you kidding me?!" nats of announcer and celebration take another look at the incredible photo-finish. you can see hamlin, in car number 11, zip right around matt kenseth in number 20. then he and martin truex junior in 78 went to the finish line. hamlin won by just one one-hundreth of a second!

happening today, fire officials say they will discuss a series of meth lab busts in newport news. the department says it wants to spread awareness to the community about the potential risks from in-home meth labs. later today, firefighters will give us a closer look at the dangerous situations posed by the drugs: from suspects, to neighbors, and first responders. improper handling of meth labs can result in explosions and at its worst, the loss of life - this is why a officials want get their their safety message out to the community. in the past week, police have raided

operations in newport news - two on middlesex road and the latest friday on sidney place. three people face felony charges in those busts. in today's session, fire officials say they won't discuss the specifics of the current cases, but instead will give us a look into how they respond to the busts and handle the hazardous materials. sunday morning police in norfolk busted a meth lab. they say it started as a domestic situation. police say two men lived in the second floor apartment on west 27th street. one of the men went to police - claiming his partner assaulted him. when police went to serve a warrant, they say they found an active meth lab. officers evacuated the building, blocked off the street and sent a hazmat crew inside. the fire marshall said the home is unsafe. both men in custdy this morning as police figure out what charges they face. 10 on your side is tracking all the local meth lab busts. you can find our complete coverage on wavy dot com. this morning, bill cosby's wife, camille, is

today the uber driver killing people in michigan is scheduled to be in court. police in kalamazoo say jason dalton shot at least eight people during a seven-hour shooting spree saturday. six people died. critical condition. cnn reports a source told them the suspected shooter picked up and

between shootings. the big question this morning, is why? police have not found a motive and believe the shootings were random. investigators do not think there is a connection between dalton and the victims. saturday night's situation of a gunman on the loose led a man and his family to get an uber ride saturday. the man realized later his decision put him in the passenger seat right next to the accused killer.
