tom-- state police say 2-year-old other, larry tuner's girlfriend amazingly survived. she was in the home. we're told she is still in the hospital. she is still in the hospital. virginia governor terry mcauliffe declared a state of emergency in the wake of the deadly storms. today he toured the affected areas to survey the damage. mcauliffe was in appomattox county. that's where a fourth person was killed after his home was destroyed by a tornado. seven other people were injured there. he also visited essex county and here in

circuit court for an arraignment. she didn't say a word as attorneys discussed her case with the judge. tonya slaton spent a short time in court after a long investigation that began last year during a in her trunk. at that time she was charged with concealing a body. online court records show tonya slaton was indicted for murder on febuary 1st. after the hearing, the deputy commonwealth's attorney on the case explained why the initial charges were nolle prossed. konstantinou, deputy investigation was going to progress before we went to hearing on the lesser charge. 6:34:29 sheree konstantinou also gave new information on what quincy davis' autopsy revealed. sot - sheree commonwealth's attorney - clip 11 6:33:42 it is a fairly thick document. folks tend to cut to the however there is also a portion of the report that states that the inconsistent with natural death. so

this is 30 year old police officer laila underwood. her husband 32 year old kevin underwood who told police they had a fight, filed the complaint saying she assaulted him, broke his car windows, and damaged his property tuesday night. two sides to every story, kevin got arrested too. no booking photo but laila claims kevin assaulted her and used abusive language. the domestic situation reported by a third party. laila underwood is on administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of the investigation. a granby high school student is in custody after officers say they found a gun inside the school. someone told norfolk police and school security-- a student was inside a classroom with a concealed gun. police found the 17-year-old, and recovered the gun. no one was hurt. charges are pending. new at five -- we just learned the fate of a woman accused of murdering a child. 31-year-old kayla ziegenhagen was sentenced

a virginia beach jury believes a convicted rapist should serve ife in prison. today, jurors convicted benjamin madonia in a

and recommended the sentence. police arrested him in florida, in 20-14 . police say the victim was sexually assaulted after accepting a ride home. madonia will be formally sentenced in august. a woman is in jail-- charged in a hampton meth lab bust connected to others in newport news. mary toole is charged with manufacturing methamphetamine. 10 on your side was there on cynthia drive last week, as a hazmat team cleaned up. officers say they found items used to make meth at toole's home. many who work at the oceanfront are going to have to dig deeper to park. why the price is going up-- and what the neighbors think about

called in to help. a suffolk man is behind bars --- accused of possession of child pornography. james wood faces five counts. police say more charges are likely. detectives are still investigating. 24-year-old sherrod cannon of portsmouth pleaded guilty today-- in connection with three separate armed robberies. cannon admitted to the robbing three 7- elevens -- two in portsmouth and 1 in chesapeake, last april. cannon faces a minimum sentence of seven years-- or a maximum penalty of life in prison. he will be sentenced in june. newport news police need your help solving a cold case murder. three years ago, on january 20th -- police responded to a shooting on north maple court. witnesses told officers a gold- colored nissan-- with a loud muffler and temporary tags-- stopped outside the home, as the victim got out of his vehicle. a fight started between

police arrested the driver of the car involved in a school bus scene of an accident, second offense d-u-i, driving on a suspended license, reckless driving and drug possession. police say charles left the scene of an earlier crash, ran a red light and hit the bus. 10 on your side viewers sent us pictures from the scene yesterday afternoon at jefferson avenue and oyster point road. there was a driver trainee and instructor on the bus.

a line of severe storms ripped through the area wednesday, bringing widespread damage to the region. today, communities across the commonwealth are looking to pick up the pieces from last night's devastating weather. initial reports from the storms indicated that total of four people were killed across the state. addressing the media thursday, virginia gov. terry mcauliffe says a fifth death may have been storm- related. he told members of the media the fifth death was a drowning. officials say the death is unconfirmed, but that there have been reports the victim drowned in the
