newton talked to us for the first time since the incident. wbtv's brody o'connell begins our team coverage. what was newton's response to the critics? >> maureen, i can tell you that cam was unapologetic. he admitted to being a sore loser. he has drawn sharp criticism his week but i can tell you after spending time in the locker room it is clear his teammates they still have his back. hurry for cam... >> cam newton's teammates cheered him on and had fun as the nfl mvp gave his first interview since the now infamous press conference walkout. the mood was lighter today but cam was not backing down or apologizing. >> i mean, i've been 0 on record to say i am a sore loser. who likes to lose, show me a
it is not a popularity contest. i'm here to win football games. >> cam's walkout is not the only thing he is being criticized for. there was the fourth quarter fumble he did not dive on. cam told reporters today that his leg was in an awkward position on that play and felt that he could have been injured. gregle son has a message for people not satisfied. >> the one thing i do know is if anybody ever wants to question how much cam cares and question how hard he plays the sacrifice that he makes with his body and the sacrifice he makes with the way he plays that position then not only are they uninformed they have never watched us play. >> to say that cam has the locker room on his side would be an understatement. before cleaning out the locker he took time signing autographs for teammates. coach ron rivera said the bond this team shares gives them an edge. an edge that cam says will carry over to next season.

and true fans have been behind them the whole time. today the team did take time to say they appreciate all of it. now fans gave the panthers a welcome home monday night at bank of america stadium as players stepped off the buses and they received tons of cheers. people were disappointed with the loss but not disappointed with their team. and tuesday the team had an opportunity to respond to the love. >> it was awesome like the fans have been for us since i started here to know they are here to awesome. it is. >> it was great to see everybody every show that even though we lost that they cared enough to come out and stand on a chilly night on a random monday. but at the same time, you just think what could have been. >> now, the coach says he wants to give fans plenty to cheer about next season see what they will be doing in the off season

between the boards and that relationship has been up and down. inside 267 here at the government center where both boards met. when it comes to student assignment commissioners had an issue with the school district's goal of creating more diverse schools. some say to them that means busing. but school board members said that is not the case. they told commissioners there are other options to obtain that diversity goal besides busing. and the budget commissioners told board members in the future present an amount to them that is reasonable instead of what commissioners think requesting an amount that is dead on arrival. also talked about maintenance of schools. commissioners expressed concerns how they see that cms is giving attention to certain schools and leaving some behind. clearly there's more work to be done to make sure the boards

>> and today is colder than yesterday. almost 10 . >> exactly. and we are going down. while the temperatures are going down the snow accumulations are going up in the high country. the size i still cannot get over the size of the influence of this upper-level low that is creating snow back across st. louis and mississippi valley and south as central georgia covering the carolinas and up through the northeast now. again you will notice there is a window here of little activity that downsloping flow off the mountains. and surviving occasionally here in the piedmont areas outside of the mountains but the story is all about the snow continuing to roll in and out of the north carolina high country. and in fact, here we go again as we take you through the next 48 hours you are going to see that additional accumulations of one to three this is already on top

you do not want to lose that jacket at all. day or night. it will stay cold. where our snow showers are, we have a few more of them building down to the south in the south carolina counties. not typically the ones that get the snow but you have snow showers in york county and chester into south carolina. here is 321 here. and 77 in south carolina you are 521. the van wick area into heath springs and closer to monroe you also have snow showers. not really going to amount to a lot and not going to stick on the ground but you may see them heading home from work. and in the mountain counties in burke down south of the 40 you are seeing snow showers and then up into avery county you also have some of the snow showers. you also on top of that have a winter weather advisory for avery county, ash and watauga until 7:00 a.m. thursday. on top of that in avery county
