6:00 in the morning on this february 21. yesterday, i went outside. they were as excited as we were. >> today is going to be nice, too. just not quite as stunning. today's high temperatures are actually in the 50s. we are hitting those highs from lynnfield and even to milton. we will go down in temperatures as we get into the later part of the day. the weather bug network providing temperatures. those are in the 30s and 40s. it depends on where you are. boston was at 50 degrees and now we are at 49. we are going to kind of stay in the 40s and 50s for the rest of the day.

giving us more cloud cover for this afternoon. with another chance for a little bit of a rebound by 3 pm. overnight tonight, there is a chance for rain. more temperature swings on the way and midweek rain. the latest on that storm system in a bit. we do have breaking news this morning. seven people are dead following a series of shootings in the kalamazoo, michigan, area. police say they arrested eight 835-year-old suspect overnight. the shootings appear random. the suspect opened fire in multiple locations including a cracker barrel restaurant, a car dealership and a residential complex. to campaign 2016 and the race for president. another big win for donald trump. the south carolina primary and

it has made amends. the wind resort is facing off. so far, summerville has gone to court five times to block the casino from opening in 2018. the latest challenge over environmental permits. saying it will cost massachusetts $55 million per month. the ta is reporting early progress. new data shows an average savings of $39,000 a day in overtime compared to this time last year. the chief administrator acknowledged they -- that a milder winter contributed to this. it may be the final frontier and apparently a lot of people want to get there. nasa says they have received a record 18,000 resumes from people who want to become astronauts.

the north, more clouds. clouds will be an issue all afternoon. once we get that sun high in the sky, temperatures will be very comfortable. we have 40s and 50s expected for today. in fact, we are already running right around 50 degrees. and what a difference compared to last sunday. 12 degrees for the high temperature last weekend. do you remember? it was awful. so cold. and the low last sunday, nine below. a record low. this and that, way better. no complaints. and slightly cooler than yesterday's high of 60 but still not bad. we are in the 40s at this time. click -- pretty close to the high temperature. we are at 49 in boston. 42 degrees in worchester. temperatures will go down for the next couple of hours and then back up by a few degrees this afternoon. advertise should be 40 degrees. even though we cool off a

not too bad. highs today, upper 40s and lower 50s. wonderful conditions. overnight tonight, there's a chance of a couple of showers on the south coast. that is where we could see a brief ureta of wintry mix. temperatures playing a role in what kind of precip we will see. here are the satellite pictures. so far so good. our next system is going to move him from the ohio valley. this is -- this system is tracking up through new england but it stays to the south. that is good. that we might have some issues. by midnight tonight, as temperatures hover around freezing, a brief period of wintry mix. but most of the day should be okay and especially monday afternoon. we are good to go. nice and dry. our next system moves in late tuesday into wednesday. this one bringing a brief period of wintry mix transitioning to rain. this one is pretty complicated and it is so far away that there are still questions on the track and the timing.

days later at boston medical center. his funeral was held yesterday at the united house of prayer for all people. his death is still under investigation by boston police. an elderly woman was killed when the 2-alarm fire engulfed her native home. none of her smoke detectors were working, apparently. she is the states 12th fire victim this year. this scorched mattress shows how intense this fire was that claim the life of the 73- year-old, carol mccarthy, who was found on the second floor.>> it's a tragedy anytime there is a loss of life. >> he says the fire broke out about 7:30 saturday morning outside this two-story home. >> the initial companies that came in discovered a hole in the second four-bedroom where the victim was found. they were able to navigate that hold. >> we woke up to a lot of fire

31 degrees and tracking the chance for some showers along the south coast. rain first, then a little bit of snow mixing in and here's the satellite radar picture we're all dry here but or next system is still gathering some moisture and energy cruise the ohio valley. that's going to move south of us here off shore but the northeastern fringe of this system just touching the south coast. we have rain first expected then transitions to a bit of a wintry mix to some wet and heavy snow and the snow very brief. we have cold air allowing for that transition to a wintry mix even though at the surface it looks like we'll have rain and some of it may make its way on the ground leaving to about a coating. worse case scenario snow accumulation monday morning. monday evening we're looking good partly sunny then our next wave of rain moves in late tuesday night early wednesday with another system would moving in wednesday and thursday. so here's the
