offshore could produce flooding. it's producing gusty winds between 6:30 and 7:30 this morning. we're about an hour away from the potential for minor flooding at the shore. the winds have kicked in. they're steady at 16 miles an hour. that same storm system may produce light snow in central new jersey along the coast. then it's moving out of here. later in the day, there's a chance of some showers. look at these temperatures, above freezing. we'll stay above freezing during the day today. right now, 38 in philadelphia. south philadelphia, fifth and warden, down to 35. 36 in roxborough. there's the wet weather we're watching at the shore. there's a winter weather advisory in effect for ocean counties and to the north with the potential of some snow. that is just rain offshore. it's moving in to colder air. philadelphia, it stays dry this morning. 37 degrees, mostly cloudy at 7:00. by 10:00, 40 and 41 degrees by 1:00 this afternoon.
later today we could see wet weather moving in for the evening commute. right now, katy zachry following your first alert traffic. >> the important thing is for the morning commute, things are dry right now. your area bridges are looking good as well. we know those surfaces are some of the first to freeze. we have some of that weather move in. a live look at 95 at girard avenue. this is the southbound side. traffic is moving up a little bit, picking up a little bit as it is throughout the majors in our area. no issues to report along 95 southbound if you're making your way between woodhaven and the vine street expressway. construction in center city philadelphia to tell you about on 19th street southbound, south 19th street is closed between the vine street expressway and the ben franklin parkway, part of a long-term construction project there. be aware if that's part of your morning commute. 76 is looking really good. no overnight construction that was blocking it in either direction. average speeds are in the 40s as you make your way through center city philadelphia. vai? thank you, katy.
we're following breaking news in chester, delaware county of a police investigation. matt delucia is live for us at the scene. walk us through what happened here. >> reporter: very few solid detail. i've made calls to police, including one to the chester police commissioner. we're still waiting to hear back. here's what we have learned since we have been at the scene. a group of people, claiming to be family members of two men came up to me. a woman told me her brother and cousin were shot several times here on the 1200 block of keystone road, this happened around 2:00 this morning. the woman tells me she got a phone call around then and she explains what she heard. >> i got the call from my little brother's phone. he said the cops was chaising him. i asked him where were they at? near the elementary school. that's when i said, what did you all do?
they said nothing, basically. i have my hands up they tell me they love me again and you hear over 100 shots rang out. >> i did hear several pops that sounded like gunshots from a roaring this woman had. the woman tells me her cousin is dead but her brother is still in the hospital. we have made several attempts to get information from chester police. they are being mum about what is going on. they've not confirmed this is an officer involved shooting. all we know is there was indeed a shooting. this is the only thing being confirmed by police. this group that says she are family members are still looking for answers. we'll stay on top of this, trying to gather moreç detailsn the next 30 minutes. thanks for the update. 5:33 and 37 degrees in philadelphia. temple university leaders
will talk to members of community about plans for a new football stadium in north philadelphia. deanna durante has a preview. >> today's meeting is at 3:30. it's a special meeting of the board of trustees. they've been talking since last fall about building a stadium of their own. the temple president says he wants to build off the momentum of the successful football season last year and that he wants to bring jobs and alumni back to campus. he says many people haven't returned to the campus in decades to see the growth that has happened here. but not everyone is on board for a stadium on campus. now, the last meeting was met with protesters who voiced concern over the cost. the temple owls play at the link. they say money it spends to play there could be invested into a stadium here. they say they want to work with community members. they say the campus can handle the influx of people.
the last meeting was met with protests and community members were not invited to the meeting. they are invited to this afternoon's meeting. no word if they'll hear public comment or talk to those community members or if this is a meeting to update the area on the plans it is looking at as well as plans for lretail development around this proposed stadium. that's the latest, deanna durante, nbc 10 news. new from overnight, an attempted robbery leading to a shooting that left a man in critical condition. police say someone shot the victim once in the head at 54th and master streets in west philadelphia late last night. officers rushed him to penn presbyterian hospital. police are searching for one suspect. also new from overnight, philadelphia police looking for a driver who crashed into a home in the city's mantua neighborhood. you can see the crumpled car at 34th street and fairmont. police tell us the person behind the wheel ran from the scene. no one inside the home was hurt.
murdered by her husband will fight to keep him in jail. rafael robb is up for parole. he was convicted of beating ellen robb to death with a chin up bar in their upper merion home in 2006. he's serving a ten-year prison term. ellen robb's family will talk later today about their efforts to keep him in jail for the remainder of his sentence. the former university of pennsylvania won parole in 2013 but it was reversed after a national outcry. new information about a traffic stop that ended with a chase and crash and police now say there's only one suspect in the case. they're no longer looking for a sec one. only nbc 10 was there as officers handcuffed the driver in east falls. it started with a traffic stop early sunday morning in overbrook. police say the driver suddenly took off, hitting an officer and dragging him a short distance. the officer was not hurt. police later spotted the driver near the target on city line avenue and chased him to a nearby bridge where he crashed. this morning, we now know there were not one but two good
samaritans who fought off a rabid raccoon that attacked a little girl last week. neither man was exposed to the rabies virus. the victim was walking home through the woods when the raccoon lunged at her. the two guys fought off the raccoon with a hockey stick. the animal tested positive for rabies but neither man touched the rack soon. the doctors did treat the little girl for rabies exposure. now your nbc 10 first alert weather with meteorologist bill henley. >> 5:37. the wind is blowing and we are dry this morning. though clouds are overhead, cloudy start to your day and a mostly cloudy day ahead. winds at 17 miles an hour. 38 degrees, feels like it's 29 degrees with the wind and the gusts have been strong at the shore, too. this is where coastal flooding, minor coastal flooding with isolated spots of moderate flooding possible first thing this morning and again this
evening at time of high tide. they extend well inland, this is one of two systems we're watching. the other one to the west. that isç one that could produc showers later today. for this morning, a little bit of snow right at the jersey shore. it's out of here by noontime. 42 degrees in philadelphia. clouds are back later this afternoon and this evening, the first of some scattered light snow showers moving in. rain showers, too. mainly snow showers for the western suburbs. that is 8:00 this evening. some showers will still be in the area tomorrow morning. not looking for a lot of accumulation during the next 24 hours. likely less than an inch. 34 degrees in mt. pocono, 41 in reading and up to 38 for quakertown today. mostly cloudy day for doylestown, trenton and mt. holly. at the shore, those gusty winds, coastal flooding for cape may and atlantic city. for philadelphia, drexel hill, swedesboro, all in the low 40s this afternoon. clouds during the day, then a chance of those evening showers. and there could be some more
snow moving into the area. the seven-day forecast when i'm back in ten. 5:38 this monday morning. some of you commuting to school or work or both. may have to deal with construction. >> construction on 95 for starters. let's get you started on that with traffic reporter katy zachry. >> just to give you a heads up or a reminder because it can cause some delays of course. 95 northbound we are seeing construction, the on ramp from girard avenue to 95 northbound is closed because of a long-term construction project. there are plenty of detour signs in place, just because this has been such a big project. get on 95 north or south of that juncture. a heads up, it's closed right at girard avenue. taking a look at the 42 freeway which our computer doesn't want to work right now. the drive times, between 55 and the walt whitman bridge, four to

and immoral. bernie sanders has a solid lead on clinton in the new hampshire polls. kate snow asked the vermont senator about criticism he's taken over his knowledge of foreign policy. >> "a," it's nonsense. "b," it's the same argument used against barack obama in 2008. who is this senator, he doesn't have any experience in foreign policy. didn't work then, won't work now. >> sanders showed his funny side over the weekend during a cameo with his look-a-like, larry david on "saturday night live." >> george spencer is in new hampshire for the primary. watch his live reports today, tomorrow and wednesday on nbc 10.ç the u.n. security council is promising to punish north korea for its launch of a rocket with possible nuclear capabilities. the 15-nation council called for significant sanctions at its emergency meeting yesterday. it said north korea used nuclear technology banned by the u.n. north korea said it sent a satellite into orbit over the
weekend as part of a peaceful space program. the launch followed north korea's latest nuclear test last month. officials called off the search for survivors aftered amidair collision near the port of los angeles. two men and one woman remain missing after two small planes hit each other and crashed into the ocean. the rescue operation has turned into a recovery operation, says the u.s. coast guard. there's no word yet on what exactly caused the collision. one person is dead and six others hurt after an explosion at a plan in the northwest georgia. according to investigators, one of the injured is in critical condition. police say the explosion happened early sunday morning at a feed mill on a chicken farm about 50 miles northwest of atlanta. the cause of the explosion is under investigation. 5:47. a parish in delaware county is a national award winner for its commitment to worshippers with disabilities.

we are above freezing so that little bit of snow we got on friday is slowly melting. still, slowly melting even at this hour. clouds are overhead for now. it is dry. these clouds are coming from a storm that is offshore. we may see a glancing blow from that storm in new jersey. right now, the rain is just offshore. there could be light snow in ocean county and to the north this morning. by this afternoon it's out of here. our attention turns to this, doesn't look like much. and it may not turn out to be much. but it could start producing some scattered showers in our area this afternoon. that's rain to the south, snow to the north. that's where the rain/snow line is going to hit. it's going to be in our area at 8:00 this evening. light, scattered showers where the rain or snow, we're not looking for a lot of accumulation over the next 24 hours. by early tomorrow morning, still a few snow flaeks in the area. mostly just cloudy and tomorrow morning, there's a chance we'll see scattered snow showers,
light snow showers during the morning commute. how much will be on the ground? well, not a lot. today, toms river could see an inch and to the north, an inch or two with that coastal storm that misses most of the area. this evening, 11:00, the snow will be coming down and will be approaching an inch in philadelphia. according to this computer model, by 8:00 tomorrow morning, an inch on the ground in reading. could go up to two inches in some spots. minimal accumulation by tomorrow morning. later tomorrow, the computer models are all over the map. a little to stuff you have to shovel. we'll be watching that. high temperatures in the upper 30s to low 40s. above freezing after a cold start. scattered snow showers in the morning and a chance of some snow showers late in the day on tuesday. by wednesday,ç 40 degrees and here comes from frigid weather for the weekend.
