three teens steal a car and take police on a high speed chase before crashing into and apartment building. tonight at 7-- we talk to the terrified tenants inside. plus ... an arrest is made in the murder of a middletown mother who police say kidnapped her own baby. and crime is up again in cincinnnat and we're only two months into the year. we take new numbers straight to police. this is 9 on your side at 7. tonight on 9 on your side at 7 ... three teenagers from columbus are in custody after a police chase that exceeded 100 miles per hour in clinton county.

drive from columbus to where they were ultimately caught by police in wilmington ...that's where 9 on your side reporter ashley zilka explains what caused the teenagers to finally 'stop.' 21-28ashley/livepolice say this is where the teenagers drove off the road through the parking lotand crashed into this front bedroom. that's all after leading police on a chase. package22:57 we were just sleeping about 4:40 when i heard the bang. it shook the entire apartment complex. 01 police say that noise came from three teenagers who ran a stolen car into lauren maxwell's apartment building in wilmington.23:03 i smelled smoke so i thought the house was on fire. i got up, saw sirens outside, you could hear everyone outside, looked outside and there was a van that went right through the apartment right there. 12but that's just half of the story. state troopers spotted the teenagers minutes before the crash driving erratically in a parking lot. police tried to pull them over old driver and his two younger passengers kept going.00:59 the driver decided not to stop and fled the scene even after

a dayton man is charged in the murder of a middletown mother ... found shot in the head inside her car last month. 37 year old curtis howard burdette faces 'eight charges' related to the death of 29 year old brittany russell... including aggravated murder, felonious assault, and endangering children. russell was found dead on february 10th inside her car in a dayton parking lot. her 6 month old daughter, who russell is accused of kidnapping, was found safely inside the car.the dayton prosecutor says burdette is already in custody in the montgomery county jail on an unrelated drug charge. the case remains under investigation. a man says he was racially profiled and harassed by a cincinnati police officer ... recording his confrontation last month on video.that cell phone video has led the police to launch an internal investigation ...we want to play you a bit of the video taken by charles harrell ... it shows him walking down a street with an officer on a bike following behind.the officer stops him after he says harrell tried to cross

shooting rampage injuring four classmates monday, they say he showed his gun to two other students first. and those two students now face charges. butler county sheriff richard jones told reporters today ... monday could have played out differently had those two students done as they've been taught and reported the threat. he says parents need to talk to their kids about what the right thing to do is when they see a gun at school ... and 'tell someone.'the sheriff reminded everyone that charges can be even more severe if someone knows of the shooters intentions and doesn't speak up. two months into 2016 and violent crime is up in cincinnati.so "9 on your side" went straight to police to see what they're doing about it. it.yesterday the mayor and cincinnati police held a closed door meeting to discuss their new crime fighting plan. they plan to focus on what they call hot spots ... troubled neighborhoods like westwood seeing more than a typical amount of crime. they'll receive extra attention under the city's new place-based investigation strategy. lt. col. paul neudigate, cincinnati police"i would say where we could have done a better job is in helping some of those communities with some of their long term maintenance strategies so that we're not right back there six months later." so far in 20-16 violent crimes like homicide, rape, and aggravated assault are up slightly from this time last year.but robberies are down slightly ... as are non- violent crimes like auto theft. next on 9 on your side at 7.... 7....multiple law enforcemen agencies devote hours to finding a baby inside a stolen car ... only to find the child was never missing at all!now

we're tracking the investigation into a deadly crash that cost a mother and her 8-year-old daughter their lives.police now say they 'dont' believe drugs played a role in that crash. crash.30 year old desirae hensley and her daughter jakyra cundiff died in the crash last night on u-s 27 ... near the lower gap intersection in cold spring. police say 37 year old tammy fenauer crossed the center line in her car and hit the victims' car.she was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover.hensley's mother told 9 on your side her daughter was a good mom, who cared deeply for her child.
