right now making the necessary repairs. i'm told that they will need to bring in their new beam that they have to weld it into place. to make sure that there aren't any of those fragments sticking out of the room to harm more vehicles. after that they need to fill in any gaps on the road with concrete on asphalt to have that roadway nice and smooth. they are aware that they are on a time crunch because it is friday and the evening rush hour usually starts early on friday in preparation for the weekend. also thousands of people will plan on using this stretch of road on miami beach tonight. so they are trying to get all this work done before the evening rush. they are shut down, the only

taken into the situation here as well. and you can see the huddle or the cause way reporting live we'll send it back to you. >> thank you for that update. we'll bring you the latest right here on cbs4 news and cbs4.com. miami police said that someone opened fire on their officers during a traffic stop. we are live where it all started at southwest. you've got the surveillance video that you saw? >> reporter: that's right they just shared that video with me. in it you'll see them being pulled over by the officer, police telling us that there were four people in the car when they got out and started shooting the officer, one even grazed that neighbors car as they were telling us that no one was injured.

their officers got shot at during the traffic stop. >> it was like bank bank bank and really fast. >> reporter: it is just after 4:00 on the morning as you can see the break lights pulled over. before they even come to the close stop that they want to get out of the car and they started shooting. >> one of the subject exits that vehicle and shoots them several times. we don't know why the violent action, but you know that it is something that has us worried. >> reporter: the driver opened the door, stepped out, firing towards the officer who backed up the unit, then chases the car as it speeds off. >> my heart was beating and i was afraid. >> cops pulled up on northwest ninth street they were all taken into custody. >> the dangers are as simple as the traffic stop.

the traffic isn't cooperating, what about the weather? >> the traffic is cooperating, eliott. i have great news today and even through the weekend. this morning we woke up to the chilly 50s. keep in mind the average low is 63 degrees. in some areas we were close to 10 to 15 degrees below that. oakland park woke up to 50 degrees. 54 in ft. lauderdale, 56 the low in miami and 53 in west kendall. temperatures right now in the comfy. as we take a look at the breeze out of the north-northwest anywhere from 9 to 15 miles per hour ushering the cooler air. we'll continue to see them drop this evening 65 the sunset at 6:21. overnight low 50s near the coast, even colder inland with the 40s. they are indicating the afternoon hours, low 70s, then in the evening the upper 60s. overnight get ready for the big chill and bundle up. i'll have more on the rest of

>> thank you. in connection to the murder of the 6-year-old carter as they say that they confessed to being in the car with the two other teenagers who were arrested earlier on in the week. >> all the people rested in this case are teenage boys ages 16, 17, 18. due in court this afternoon. the third teen to be arrested in connection to the shooting death of the 6-year-old carter. he told police that he was in the car. they are accused of shooting king while in a gun battle. >> we came out there. and came on the ground. >> reporter: they saw king just moments after he was shot as he said he just arrived at the

>> we got off their kids. we would hop in the back. as soon as you hop in the back, not less than five minutes later. we would hear gunshots, real loud. >> reporter: the shooting came after they got into a fight on social media >> they have no type of understanding, that they were under arrest and they should have done things differently. >> even though you would turn act. even though i'm against violence that you should know who he was to get out there. you would see them here and you still shot, you're a coward. >> police are still looking for a car that is similar to this one a 1999 black lexus. possible tags would be bmg8285 or bmt6467.

that was outrageous. just upset. >> reporter: the police officers eventually shot and killed four. they say that ford was armed with that pistol. and that he has an extensive line in both miami dade and broward. you can see the bullets going into the ground, posted on september 20 of 2015. the sheriff's office is trying to figure out how the man died inside a home. late last night broward county medical officers checked out a home on northwest 25th street. deputies responded to a call of shots fired at the home on thursday afternoon. they found a man dead inside. he did not live in the home and investigators are working to

those blue skies for you to kick off the very busy weekend with a lot going on. and whatever your plans are, that especially if they are outdoors you will not have to worry about weather that we are seeing that folks are enjoying a nice afternoon on the beach getting an early start to your weekend here. not as windy as we have seen in the past week. the entire state is enjoying the dry afternoon. the wind flow out of the northwest anywhere from 10 to 15 miles per hour. temperatures, the outcome, the cozy and school down through the keys and broward and dade. we are seeing 50s around gainesville, tallahassee, and jacksonville. 30s stretching from dc to new york city and boston, cincinnati, chicago, down right freezing there as well as in minneapolis. 41 in kansas city. 50s through dallas and houston and new orleans on the west coast. 73 degrees in phoenix. that is the warmest spot as compared to us anyway with the

california through the pacific northwest as we head into your saturday, that it will be looking quite cold in the morning and then plenty of bright sunshine and mild as we get into sunday as we have that cooler high pressure that will be off to the north and east as we will see more of the northeast breeze with that flow that means temperatures will be slightly warmer on sunday, but still feeling very pleasant since we will have a lot of sunshine in place for today and the highs will climb. wu a few more degrees to show you the lower 70s later this afternoon. if you're planning to head out voting, the moderate chop on the bays sensitive at 6:21 p.m. this evening of course the burger bash as they will be heading out to the other event as well. take your jackets with you as we are talking about the upper 60s. for tonight the coldest one so far this week and those areas are 61.

caught on camera a pilot makes an emergency landing without its nose guard. the flight crew only had the rear wheels to touch down. the front of the plane hitting the ground as it landed. only three people were on the luckily. california road. officers chasing a uniform, or at least it looked like it. white juliet was the star of a party, but got loose and darted out on a busy road. there were a few misses by cars, but no one hurt.
