there are no warnings right now. there is that tornado watch for marion and sumter county this may be expanded to include the rest as we go throughout the morning hours again for the potential of severe weather. it is one of those days to have our weather app with you and warnings and severe thunderstorm warnings because you may have a go on off -- you may have a go off. rain and storms to the west. a classic el nio set up stretching back to the gulf of mexico. this will move in west to east as we go throughout the morning into the early afternoon. we will not wait until late in the day. north florida and south georgia one warning up for them. the best storm warning for them to give us an idea of the potential of the system. 60s and 70s is why, it is warm and will be very warm today windy as well. get a line of rain and storms. here is the timeframe for us.

>> reporter: at last check, more than 6000 people without power from tuesday storms. i counted 8 roads closed until power lines and debris are cleared. checking on twitter, the damage in the panhandle after storms rolled through tuesday night. since we came on the air i found these pictures showing how strong the winds were from the confirmed tornado that touched down in pensacola. a tree was uprooted in a semi- blown over shutting down part of i 10 for two hours. homes were plan in the early morning hours. we told you apartment complex caught the brunt of the storm. we learned two dozen units were destroyed and residents were evacuated and many of them taking shelter at churches opening their doors overnight. the national weather service issued more than 20 alerts for florida overnight.

5:44 am. breaking news for updates out of the panhandle where tornado went through overnight knocking down power for 6000. eyewitness news this morning janai norman is -- janai norman showing us the damage. not many reports of injuries so that is good. >> getting updates from escambia county officials outlining damage they are saying, road closures in areas that caught the worst of the storms. we are not single. >> reporter: of injuries. we know a semi truck driver was injured when the blew over his truck and i can shutting down the road for a couple of hours. officials report two dozen units at the apartments were destroyed and residents were evacuated but no reported injuries. continuing to get updates in the newsroom showing where the storm flattened home to over -- homes overnight uprooting trees, we will keep you updated

dozens of residences operation will wake up to darkness this morning as the blue tarps or plywood over the windows. condos and leaky roofs causing damage. residents say this is not a problem. residents living celebration town center condos tell me they have been dealing with leaks and water damage for years. homeowners are responsible for damage to individual units but the owner of the building, lex and capital is responsible for fixing damage to the outside of the condos. but now lex and wants residents to take assessment fees which is part of the contract they signed. some residents, that could be $30,000. >> another wonderful view. it is all boarded up dark as night. i do not think i should have to pay. i don't think anyone should. >> braxton released a statement saying it's not fair to blame them for the problems and they will share was really with condo owners. orange county school

meetings to discuss new grades which were released last week based off of the controversial fsa test. school officials will hold nine meetings to explain to parents how grading has changed. for a list of the meeting times click on web links on the home page. testing for this year's fsa test starts next week for students of a central florida. state officials say they hope to avoid the problems they saw last year. the education department says it is fixed bugs, tested the system, have students take practice exams. leaders is a morrow county are trying to stay optimistic but they say they are ready -- seminole county have already noticed issues. let us know what you think. it is on the home page. controlled burn out-of- control in volusia county sending flames.

breaking on eyewitness news this morning, overnight, people in the panhandle had to take cover from a twister that damaged homes and not out power leaping family standing in the rain. tracking the line as it was south now already putting parts of central florida under a tornado watch. >> wrecking overnight, a drive- by shooting -- breaking overnight, a drive-by shooting sending 4 people to the hospital. what police are telling us about the search for the gunmen who got away.
