announcer: this is eyewitness this morning, coverage you can count on. new from overnight one of the teenagers orange county deputies say was involved in a jail. and the other suspect is expected to face a judge today. good morning, it is saturday march 19th, i'm darlene jones, time now is 5:00. we'll have more on the top stories in just a minute, but first here's a look over downtown orlando. our meteorologist, marina jurica
>> some of us are already seeing that rain forwards the north. early morning doppler 9 hd, from daytona beach, reason southern flagler, ormond, to new smyrna beach, heading towards i-4, deland, pierson, aster, lake kathryn, all light showers and you can see that drifting into northern lake, as well as southern mary ann and northern sumter, so all the way up i-75, and lake bellevue. they are just light showers, but for the first couple we were going to wake up to that. we were in the 60s and 70s and we have a 50% rain chance and i'm timing the rain for your saturday coming up in the next darlene?
bond, and her boyfriend pulled the trigger, in juvenile jail, waiting to see a judge. on bumbee, the girl led deputies to her girlfriend. >> reporter: the deputies said she wasn't present at the time, but she was in close contact with the suspect after the murder and that suspect is being held here at the juvenile deposition center. >> reporter: do you have anything to say to the man you shot accidentally? >> reporter: orange county deputies were the only crew there. 15-year-old davis was shot in the head, when davis was met to buy some marijuana in a sidewalk on ocoee early side morning. >> we know this won't bring annen to back -- antoine back. >> reporter: she was arrested friday morning and was charged
the case. investigators say she led them to anderson who deputies show he was hiding in the woods. anderson has been arrested at least half a dozen times. his criminal past shows several felony charges for burglary, grand test, and aggravated battery. and it will be up to the state attorney's office if they charge anderson as a juvenile, or an adult. reporting live in orange county, julie salomone, eyewitness this morning. the man orange county deputies who shot a new father is expected to appear in court. deputies say the 21-year-old was fighting with his girlfriend at the magnolia court apartments yesterday and pulled out a gun. they said he was trying to shoot his girlfriend, but bullets missed her and hit a man who was working on a fence. >> they're our family, so i just want to make sure they're okay. don't care about anything else.
the owner told us the victim is in a local hospital in critical condition. the accused mastermind of the deadly paris attack could return to france. french judges could file the proper paperwork as early as this weekend. the suspect was caught during at dramatic raid in belgium. >> reporter: explosions, and gunfire ripped through a swat teams zeroing in on europe's publicen enemy number one, salah abdelslam. wounded. >> he was arrested by the police. he was slightly injured during the intervention. >> the 26-year-old was the only survivor of the group of terrorists who carried out the highly coordinated approximate attack that claimed 130 lives. a french citizen raised in

officials say the flight was coming from dubai and headed to russia. 55 people on board were passengers. several others were crew members. no word yet on what caused the crash. tomorrow, president obama will be come the first sitting president to visit cuba in 90 years. he'll celebrate his relationship with normalizing cuba. their family will spend two days in cuba and have dinner with president castro. president obama is also set to give a speech that will be broadcast live on cuban tv. there is a new bill in the works that could help companies develop a vaccine for the zika virus much faster. right now there are 67 cases of the virus in florida. the measure puts the virus on a list of diseases that can be added to a program, which would allow companies to get their vaccines approved faster. bill nelson cosponsored the
>> you could get quite a few drug companies working on this, all of which could come up with different solutions for the virus. >> the first company to develop a different disease that was on the list sold their findings for $125 million. remember you can find out what you need to know of the zika virus, just head to wftv.com, click on the news tab, then click on zika virus. leesburg police are looking for two people involved in a fight near leesburg high school. it captured the fight that happened this week, and several other videos have been posted to social media. the aunt of one of the teenagers told us an adult showed up and joined in, instead of trying to stop it. >> you've got grown women who outweigh her 100 pounds kicking her in the face. i mean, it's hard to watch. >> police say at least four juveniles and one adult will likely face charges.
the school to try and prevent another fight from happening. orange county school administrators say more security will be added to a middle school when students return to spring break. it all stems from this fight at maitland middle school. a parent told us the same thing is happening at lockhart middle school. this is video of a fight at that school. the parents says her son has been attacked several times and other parents say they're having trouble getting answers from school leaders about what's being done to stop the fights. >> even when you make it clear you're not satisfied with the school's response, they didn't respond back to me and that's not right. >> maitland middle school administrators told us they're monitoring minor discipline issues at the school. seminole deputies are trying to track down the driver who they say hurt a deputy. the deputy pulled over a man on lake mary boulevard yesterday. when a deputy tried to force him out of the car, the driver pulled him out of the car and the deputy shattered the window and the person took off.
drivers who take i-4 and maitland will have to plan for a detour this weekend. the ramp to i of had four west will be closed as part of the i-4 ultimate project. the ramp will reopen monday morning at 6:00. we told you crews also shut down the ramp from orange avenue to 408 westbound for the next three years. new this morning the international space station has three new crew members including a nasa astronaut. take a look at this video of american astronaut jeff williams and two raugz ian russian cosmonots. williams holds -- cosmonauts holds the record of the most days on a mission. impressive. marina jurica is in severe weather center nine tracking

unsettled weather pattern for the weekend so head's up for that and make sure you have the we'll see showers and thunderstorms off and on, and early warning doppler 9 is showing we are already dealing with some showers this morning, which we knew that we would have some when we woke up for the next couple hours. the heaviest of rain is along smyrna beach. you can see it is light to moderate rainfall with now with a lot of yellows and greens, giving you the perspective into lake, and inland, volusia, and southern marion county, from i'm until a aster, pierson, deleon springs. we are looking at some light showers and into southern mary ann and northern sumter, and northern lake from lady lake over into the villages, leesburg into bellevue, we've got some of that light to moderate rainfall. unsettled weather now through sunday morning, so it's best just to keep that umbrella handy. cold front isn't going to push
we'll see a chance of showers through our sunday afternoon. looking at current temperature right now, we're in the 60s and 70s. we are going to see a drastic difference in temperatures in the next 48 hours. monday is going to feel 20 to 30 degrees cooler. a big difference, might be the last huge cold front of the season so if you like the cooler weather, then enjoy the beginning of the week. wind speeds right now are pretty quiet but we'll be anywhere from 10 to 15 miles an hour to the southwest today. we won't get that northwesterly wind until late sunday. futuretrack 9 is showing we're going to wake up to some of those showers into the morning. we could see some light showers filter into portions of orange and osceola, then past noon we'll see some of those showers develop into 4:00, and we'll see some isolated showers and thunderstorms into the evening.

covering seminole county, the oviedo mother who admitted to kill her teenager daughter will spend the rest of her life in prison. she pleaded guilty to killing her 17-year-old daughter in 2014. she previously requested the death penalty and rejected a plea deal of 30 years. he attorney says she is mentally ill and won't get the help she needs in prison.

he's accuse the of shooting 15-year-old -- accused of shooting 15-year-old an twoin davis and leaving him -- antoine davis, on the side of the road, and deputy the first arrested anderson's girlfriend, lindsey shirley friday morning and charged her with being an accessory after the fact, and tampering with evidence in the case. investigators said she led them to anderson, who deputies found hiding in the woods. >> we know this won't bring antoine back but we hope this news 8 bring a measure of comfort to his family as they prepare for his funeral. >> reporter: court records show anderson was only supposed to be at school or work because a court put him under community supervise until he turned 19. records show he was arrested the least a half dozen times since last year. he had several felony charges for burglary, grand theft and aggravated battery. >> reporter: and it will be up
whether or not they charge anderson as a juvenile or an adult. reporting live in orange county, julie salomone, eyewitness this morning. two men accused of taking a joyride on a daytona beach lifeguard's jet ski are set to face a judge today. beach patrol officials say a jet ski attendant had mechanical issues and left the jet ski. investigators say a few minutes later, duffy and gentry sped off with it. police followed them until they took the jet ski back to the shore. we'll be in touch with fire crews in brevard county to find out if anyone was hurt near pineda causeway. the state fire marshal is investigating. a new father is in critical condition after being shot accidentally while working at an apartment complex. it happened when a man started shooting at his girlfriend during an argument. eyewitness this morning's
suspect and he had a message for the victim. >> i feel sorry for the woman i shot. >> do you have anything to say to his family? >> yes, i'm sorry. >> what about to his newborn child? >> i'm sorry. >> reporter: 21-year-old ward is accused of attempted murder. deputies say he pulled a gun on his girlfriend during a fight outside magnolia court apartments around 12:30 this afternoon, but when he fired, he hit an innocent bystander, a wokker, fixing a fence on the other -- worker fixing the fence on the other side of the parking lot. tonight the owner of the fence company told own the woman and his brother were working together when he was hit by the stray bullet. >> his brother is here working with us today and that saved his life. >> bryan says the victim is in the hospital, in critical condition with his family and four-day old baby by his side.

and firefighters are trying to figure out what started a massive fire that tore through the home of the usa today founder and was in the process of being renovated by a new owner. the teenager accused of running over a deputy and taking off is being charged as an adult. last month 15-year-old john carlos ortiz intentionally hit sergeant marcie pearce. she was trying to take him into custody on burglary charges. pierce is still recovering from her injuries but plans to return to work when she's better. ortiz is on no bond. gary borders is retiring, and is withdrawing candidacy for a third term. borders filed to seek reelection last month and has been with the county since 2006. borders said he'll retire next january and has served for more

it was heavier about an hour ago but it's lightning up so this is all due to a cold front that is just to the west moving through the panhandle, and it is bringing a whole lot of sun settled weather and taking its sweet time to move through. we're really not going to see the front move through until tomorrow but ahead of it we'll have to deal with some showers and thunderstorms. court temperatures are in the 60s and 70s but that mild air is not going to stick around for long. we've got some big changes into the next 48 hours. futuretrack 9 hour-by-hour showing that into 11:00 we could start to see some of those scattered showers. at 3:00, we could start to see a few showers and isolated thunderstorms into the evening and early sunday morning and then tomorrow we could see some unsettled weather through midday before we start to get a little bit better over sunday evening, into our monday morning. so it is going to be a rather
