washington d.c. she was shot saturday during a response to the first call during her first shift as a police officer. the high school where she study the high school where she studied plans to hold a moment of silence. the 20-year-old garage waited from merrimack high school. she was born in western massachusetts and her family moved to merrimack when she was a child. her father was a military veteran that tragically took his own life after serve his own life after serving in iraq. a close friend of gushtion indon told us what kind of person she was. >> she cared about people. she had a great smile. the really great person and the greatest person i know right now. >> julie: officer guindon served in the military before becoming a police officer. her uncle is in the police department. the man accused of killing her is in court. robert hamilton. he killed his wife and shot guindon and two other police

the hospital. hamilton's 11-year-old son was home at the time shooting but he was not hurt. hamilton is charged with the death penalty. when hamilton appears in court, we will alert you on the fox 25 news app. download the app for up to the minute breaking news while you are on the go and at work. 4:33 right now. today the presidential candidates are descending on massachusetts before voters head to the polls. democrat hillary clinton and bernie sanders will be campaigning in the commonwealth campaigning in the commonwealth. clinton will attend events in springfield and boston today. her husband former president bill clinton will be at a rally in worcester late tonight. vermont senator bernie sanders will talk to voters at milton high school later this evening. john kasich is the only republican scheduled to campaign in massachusetts today. the to remembers spread out across other states holding primary primaries and caucuses on super tuesday. voters in 11 states including massachusetts vote for candidates in both parties.

>> daniel: when learned of the exchange he disavowed duke and other hate groups. >> reporter: hillary clinton has an eight-point lead over bernie sanders according to a new suffolk university poll. experts say sanders needs massachusetts if he hopes to pick up enough delegates to beat tuesday, but could be a republican that can steal delegates from sanders. republicans can vote in either party's contest in massachusetts, and analysts think many independents could be leaning toward john kasich instead of sanders. the poll had donald trump leading marco rubio 43% to 20%. kasich comes in third with 17%. fox 25 will have complete coverage of super tuesday and the massachusetts primary the massachusetts primaries. we will be live at trump, clinton and sanders headquarters tomorrow night. we will find up to the minute results on air, on our fox25 news app, and online at myfoxboston.com. it is now 4:36. this morning, investigators are working to find out if a man found dead on a local sidewalk

the man was found lying along cottage street in chelsea around 5:00 yesterday morning. he was rushed to a hospital but died a short time later. the man's name has not been released but we are told he was 34 years old. a city councillor who lives up the -- city councilor that lives up the street where he was found told fox25 there is a crime problem in the area. >> i worry about the well being of my community and i have a this community. it hits home. >> julie: they are awaiting autopsy results to determine a cause of death. police are saying that a woman shot and killed in woman shot and killed new hampshire last year was intentionally targeted. 62-year-old denise robert was shot in the head in manchester in august taking her evening walk. police tell the union leader that robert was specifically targeted in a drive-by shooting. a neighbor tells us they are still rattled by what happened but feels safer knowing it wasn't random. >> this area doesn't warrant for crazy things like that to happen. and so it would be nice know

a random act. it would be comforting for people that love to walk in this neighborhood and just enjoy the area. >> daniel: robert was well known and worked for the local paper for 30 years. right now police are not saying why they believe robert was a target. this morning, police are still trying to find the driver who ran over a couple at a local flea market. a man and a woman were hit by a van yesterday afternoon at the worcester flea market. their teenaged daughter saw it happen and tried to stop the van and the driver took off. the van hit the victim the second time as it left the scene. vendors at the market also tried to stop the van but couldn't. >> as she ran him over, put it in drive and the daughter saw the whole thing and screamed hysterically. >> witnesses got a partial license plate of the van. one of the victim remains in a local hospital this morning. a mashpee man is charged with a deadly head-on crash on 49

keith carou was driving a pickup thick that left the northbound lanes. the truck slammed into a compact car driven by robert roche of sandwich. he died at the scene. his passenger and karou were taken to the hospital. parents are demanding answers of toxic chemicals found in a local elementary school. last night dozens of parents grid school president bush in millis. they want to know why dangerous quality tests at brown elementary school. the school was closed last week the school was closed last week, and the tests were argued when they received reports of foul odors and mold in the building. boston public schools have not been contacted by the justice department about the alleged racial incidents at a local high school. over the weekend, civil rights groups renewed their calls for a federal investigation. a recent report said administrators did not properly handle an incident where a racial slur was directed to a

the school's headmaster has apologized. boston city council will discuss a controversial plan to give police at one university semiautomatic rifles. northeastern wants to arm some officers with the high-powered weapons. they think the move is unnecessary and upset that northeastern did not discuss the plan with local leaders ahead of time. school officials say they did not inform boston police. we track traffic and weather together every ten minutes. here a look at your live drive times south of boston. using 24 right now, a 12-minute drive from 16 to 128. shiri. >> shiri: check out these current wind chills. i know not that bad but actual temperature readings in the 40s temperature readings in the 40s. you probably should dress for 36 in boston. 3 in worcester. notice as we go hour by hour into the morning commute, we are not getting wind chills back to 40 degrees until 8 a.m. i will show you how mild and how wet it turns this afternoon next. and diversity is a big talk of the oscars this morning.

three people were stabbed and several others arrested. police are looking for one man in connection with the stabbings. new indication this morning that lawmakers in michigan knew about tainted drinking water in flint months before anything was done. e-mails reveal the governor's top aides had advocated that the city switch away from their water supply. some calling for a, quote, urgent fix. researchers later found elevated levels of lead that could cause neurological problems in children. officials are looking why the city didn't treat the water which was required by federal law. the boston bruins are on the clock. the nhl trade deadline is 3:00 this afternoon. the bs need to decide the future for louie erickson. a free agent. the bruins can move erickson for draft picks or prospects or they risk losing him at the end of the season for nothing. erickson was in the line-up against tampa. the bruins on the board first. kevin millar fires a shot from the blue line and it sneaks into the net. there we go.

road to head home from work. look what happens in the middle of the day. the chance of rain comes up, noontime, 3 p.m. today. scattered showers around as this system come on through and we get hit with a cold front part of it and we get that band of rain travel west to east up ahead of it. a mild and breezy start to the day. expect increasing clouds during the morning hours. want to pause things up at noon want to pause things up at noontime and show you best bet for showers will be western massachusetts into southwestern new hampshire. we could start seeing a couple of showers manchester down to fitchburg down to worcester at noon today and then at 2 p.m., that chance is really going to move into the boston area between about 1:00 and 2:00 today. you can see showers continue straight through 4:00 this afternoon in and around the boston area. but then by this evening. the chance will be plymouth southward by 6:00. areas to the north and west of that. clouds will be breaking apart here to send you home from work

kind of best-case scenario when many of are you at work and school and you can see the showers come through. you get that dry commute on both ends of the showers. 43 degrees right now in boston. we have got 44 degrees at 6 a.m. with the sunshine. 8 a.m. 47 degrees. by 10 a.m., increasing clouds and 52. middle to upper 50s. here we come today and i am going to give you the best chance of showers right around that 2 p.m. hour in boston. well. 56, boston. but 60 in norwood. really, really warm up ahead of that front. 56 in plymouth. 58 in lawrence. 51 in lawrence. 55 manchester, new hampshire. these are temperatures i expect to see in mid-april, not february. normal to get highs in the lower 40s. tonight, 20s and 30s are back. fall to freezing overnight. you hit these by the time the sun comes up tomorrow morning. those will be the morning commute temperatures and then for the afternoon, 43 in boston and plymouth tomorrow. 46 in lawrence. 43 in worcester.

forecast, you get high, thin clouds working in but we see a nice quiet day. it is not until the overnight hours here wednesday night -- excuse me tuesday night into wednesday morning and frozen things at 7 a.m. that we have the potential of initially this rain moving in as a little bit of an icy mixture far north and west of new hampshire. merrimack valley, we will have to watch over a couple of slippery spots early on wednesday and so warm again that we get mainly just rain. perhaps a couple of snow flakes to end the whole thing. up for a little debate and something that we are ironing out. wednesday most of what we will see will be in the form of rain. best bet for heavy rain early in the morning. 58 degrees today. some spot showers. get being 50% of us some passing rain. 45 degrees tomorrow. that little icy mix that develops late and transitions to all rain on wednesday. 56 degrees. thing qualifies as warm. 32 your high on thursday. it is going to be so much

mild start to the day but meteorologist shiri spear says rain is on the way. she joins us from the fox25 stormtracker weather center with showers in the forecast. >> shiri: showers in the forecast, and not coming into town until you are already at work. so temperature-wise this morning, talk about warm. these are normal high temperatures for this time of the year. this is where we are hitting rock bottom this morning. 44 in boston over to plymouth. 44 in bedford. 45 in lawrence. 44 44, beverly, and even up to the seacoast of new hampshire. 45 degrees in plymouth. 39 in worcester. that is one of my cooler spots right now, but i want to take you through it hour by hour because the time we hit noontime today, temperatures will climb into the middle 50s. we got increasing clouds likely even into the boston air why. increasing clouds. the showers focused across central western massachusetts into southwestern new hampshire by lunchtime today. and they do alive in boston probably around or 2:00 this afternoon and we get some
