over the next couple of day. high temperatures today about 20 degrees colder than yesterday. we have winter weather as vicery for north and west of 128 begins at 8:00 really more worried about the hours between midnight and 4:00. notice how it doesn't include the seacoast north shore boston or the south shore. really only the higher terrain on a few slick spots middle of the night tonight. currently at 36 winds have calmed downs really gusty recorded a gust of 56 earlier today. winds will calm down temporarily then jet again we could see 50 to 60-mile-an-hour gust. there's the storm now. we have several hours of clear weather no excuse not to get to polls today. early sun, cloud increasing. breezy at times today and rain beginning later on tonight possibly mixed with some wintery weather in some spots well north and west. more on the 7-day forecast including big cooldown coming up in a few minutes? time for fast track traffic. here's danielle gersh. morning.
let's go to maps now. a couple of incidents to tell you about. 495. this is an accident route 9 multivehicle accident and then on route 2 westbound alternate there. again you saw the drive into town from 128 on the pike it's slow as you can see there. 128 into boston slow drive as is route one this morning. the expressway from braintree into boston over half an hour. south of town we have some slowing on route 3 through weymouth and then route 24 some minor slowing as you approach 128 the same on 95. let's take a look at the drive times if you are getting ready to head tout door. 25 minutes on the expressway and the pike into town and then 19 minutes on 93 southbound from 128. >> busy day for the candidates. 7 of them still in this race for the white house.
all hoping that today's packed primary day will give them the boost they need to secure a nomination. here in massachusetts the polls are open. they have been for sometime now. people start lining up early to cast their vote in the race for the white house. among those out this morning marty walsh who blasted the republicans after casting his ballot for hillary clinton. >> you can't tell what's going on in republican side. the way they are behaving and campaigning for this high office is cars embarrassment to the ogs. reagan. ronald reagan would be sad to be watching what's going on there. >> and although the mayor said who he voted for governor charlie baker did not. >> i voted for the person i thought was the best candidate. i've said before that i was
trump or ted cruz. of course he endorsed chris christy who is in the race. we know more than 1400 up are up for grabs. and they are saying here in massachusetts we could see a record turnout. the stakes are very high. we have team coverage of the big day 7 victoria warren covering the republicans for us. let's start with byron barnett. he's live in worcester with more on the democratic race. byron? >> we're at polling place here in worcester where voter have been coming in pretty steady all morning since the poll opened at 7:00. now for the democratic candidates who made one final swing through massachusetts yesterday the stakes are high. >> reporter: bernie sanders up bright and early in burlington, vermont casting his vote. he's hoping voter give him a super turnout on super tuesday. >> i'm confident if there's a

funeral set to begin at noon. last night hundreds of officer escorting hearst. she was killed saturday while she and two other officers were responding to a domestic violence call. the suspect now faces capital murder charges for shooting the officers. police officers from hometown are among those paying respects to. it's such a tragedy. not only because she's a law en enforcement officer. doesn't matter if police officer here locally, regionally or across the country. a little piece of us dies with every officer struck down in the line of duty. she will be buried next to her father. kris anderson, 7news "today in new england." right now part of boylston and gloucester street that were shutdown overnight have reopened.

hospital lab building this morning. fire officials say a blasting container melted dripping on the floor creating a haze in one of the room last night. no one was in the room at the time and there were no patient in that building. firefighters evacuated workers and thankfully no one was hurt. melrose police department paying hundreds of dollars in order to get back online. >> hackers got into the computer system. and they planted a virus that made it impossible to access some of the files. the city had to pay $500 to fix the problem. in fact last spring police paid a few hundred dollars to get back online. few years swampscott had a similar problem but they instead paid to have an outside firm take care of it. much more to come this morning including aaron andrews emotional testimony. what she had to say about the

green and white mountain as we head into overnight hours. the advisory begins at 8:00. but again more worried about hour between midnight and 4:00 a.m. currently sitting at 37 if norwood. 35 bedford. 3 in boston and 28 in worcester. far cry from where we were yesterday. we got up to 64 degrees yesterday afternoon. tying a record that stood since 1880 in boston worcester beat the record getting up to 57 degrees. high temperatures today honest average about 20 degrees give or take colder than what we had yesterday afternoon. big day where there's not such a big difference. not a huge difference as we head into the afternoon. just enough cooler weather to keep an eye on storm as it rolls in later tonight. good amount of sunshine through the morning into the early afternoon. there's the storm as that approaches later on today. we'll see the clouds start to increase.
more so in the evening hour. then after midnight the green would be the rain pink would be the mix. northern worcester county southern section of vermont could see a little bit of mix middle of the night. here we are. there's the monday morning commute 6:00 a.m. this is all rain everywhere. then and out quickly. that's only half the story got wind gust of 56 miles per hour in boston. this morning could see a lot more of those as we head into tomorrow with more on that here's danielle. thanks. rob. we will deal with the winds against as we head into tomorrow. they are picking up tomorrow around 8:15. during many commutes. you can see the wind from the south gusting 50 up to 55 miles per hour. notice what's happening. by thursday morning the direction of the wind has shifted.
that will help bring in the cooler air. that will feel cooler and look what happened. we hit our high temperature early in the day and then that cooler air moves in. by thursday morning temperature have dropped down into the 20s. keep in mind we have that wind too. that means it's going to feel like 7 on 7:00 a.m. on thursday morning. and temperature will only climb up to the low-to-mid 20s for your thursday. much cooler as we head into the second part of the week. we will have the cold air in place. we also keep an eye on the storm. for more on that back to you. that's key it will be cold. in fact a little bit more winter-like as we head into thursday and friday. that means we need to keep a close eye on the next storm coming friday. that will be ocean storm. looks like most impact will stay out in the ocean. a slight change in track could mean a big difference in the forecast again anything that falls will be cold enough friday that it will fall snow. right now looks like maybe a few

saying an officers justified in shooting a man. 23-year-old suspect lunged at them with knife. taser. that didn't stop the suspect. that's when the officer fired. police were originally called to the scene when the suspect was allegedly involved in a domestic disturbance with his mother. we're also seeing and hearing the moment leading up to a deadly police shooting that happened in dorchester last month. they got a suspect down. that video released by the district attorney and show officer responding to that shooting back on february 12th in they say they found one suspect dragging another along another man limping suspect had a gun and when he wouldn't
that's when they were forced to fire. new details on hit-and-run in worcester. they say the license plate was switched. a man and women were found lying in the road sunday afternoon. the man has been released from the hospital the woman is in serious but stable condition. the boston city council is angry with officials at northeastern university after they skipped last night's hearing on the school's controversial decision to arm campus police officers with semiautomatic weapons. in a letter to city council school leaders say they would not be coming to the meeting. boston's police chief and dozens of northeastern student showed up to express their concerns. a big bust in chelsea lands man behind bars. charges. officer arrested him over the weekend after a month long investigation they say he had packages of drugs including crack cocaine and heroin ready for sell when they found him.
