property taxes from 64 to 74 mills...or about 40 dollars on a home valued at 100 thousand. the money raised would go toward building a brand new spartanburg high school...and a new elementary school...and renovating the *old* high school for use as a middle school. a 1998 bond got the district 4 new schools in the last 17 years. years. 3 07:31:34"now is the time we feel to be able to go to our public and ask if we can extend that debt." debt."07:17:24"it does not appear from the data that they have provided for us that there is a need for a new high school."hull's argument is that the bond, set to be paid off in 25 years...will be saddled with her kids...who will have to face the debt's accrued interest...but booker says while the getting's good...the time to act is now. 07:35:07"interest rates are low, now is the time to do this...construction costs are low...now is the time to do this...the longer we wait...the more expensive this is going to become."

3 continuing to cover our counties at four---- 3 in spartanburg county- officials are investigating a deadly fire that claimed one life. life.the croft fire department responded to a house fire with someonereportedly trapped inside around 5-30 this morning when they got to the scene on summerland drive... they tell us a man was found dead inside a back room in the home.a dog was also found dead. the victim's name has not been released.the cause of the fire remains under investigation. 3 we now know the identity of an easley man killed in an early morning crash in greenville county. county.the crash happened just after 2 this morning near the intersection of saluda dam road and oba road.troopers say the driver -- identified as benjamin cruey -- ran off the road and hit a ditch and a large boulder.troopers say cruey was trapped and had to be cut from the car.he died on the scene.

condition and was airlifted from the scene after rear ending a greenville county school bus this morning. morning.the crash ahppened around 7 this morning on augusta road at old augusta road.district officials say nine fork shoals elementary school students were on board the bus...but were not hurt. the bus driver was taken to the hospital.the driver of the car was airlifted to the hospital.no word on their condition this afternoon. 3 anderson county deputies are investigating after reports of shots fired at quality foods. foods.the sheriff's office says the incident happened in the parking lot or general area of the quality foods on highway 28 bypass.deputies say no arrests have been made... they are currently interviewing witnesses and trying to gather more information.if you know anything...call crime stoppers at 1-888-crime-sc. 3 now time for weather and traffic every 10 minutes---- 3 first let's get a check of the weather with chief

3 new at four--- 3 one of the last buffalo soliders from south carolina to serve in the u-s army during world war two...is being remembered as he's laid to rest this afternoon. afternoon.93-year-old tomie gaines passed on sunday at mccall hospice house. house.gaines served from march 19-43 to december 19-45 with the 27th calvary--an all-black unit.this afternoon...mr. gaines was buried at m-j dolly cooper veterans cemetary...with full military honors.greenville mayor knox white proclaimed today in mr. gaines name--family say he will be greatly missed... 3 3 3 "he was just a great person. he was the biggest man in my life except for god, you know, my dad was second, whatever i went through i could always call on my dad, my mentor, all the way, and he was my dad" dad" 3 governor nikki haley even sent a letter to the family expressing her gratitude for his service..and sympathies to
