hillary clinton wants another new hampshire. hear what he said about that idea in a one-on-one conversation with our dave price. and it may be the biggest now ... but will the candidates on either side do anything to fix the national debt? we'll talk with the head of a answer. news at four front door open good afternoon ... i'm sonya heitshusen.
everywhere else it will likely be donald trump. trump is refusing to participate in tonight's debate. instead he is hosting what he calls a fundraiser for wounded veterans. the campaign booked sheslow auditorium at drake university. the only problem... know one knows exactly which organization trump is raising money for. we reached out to his iowa campaign to ask who is the beneficiaries of his fundraiser will be. we got a vague response: --quote-- "many veterans groups will benefit! it will be a great event." trump won't be the only republican presidential candidate at the event. mike huckabee and rick santorum plan to take part after their "undercard" debate on fox news this evening. with trump's big event at the school tonight, drake university is reflecting on a successful political season on its campus. "it's really exciting. it's exciting to see students engage in the process, and have the opportunity to seek candidates, meet candidates, really engage in the political debates that are going on in their country right now. obviously, these are the issues that are going to define their future, so i think we're lucky enough to be able to provide them with these
everything we can to do so." :01-:23 this caucus cycle has been more active for the school than ever before. the school hosted a democratic debate and a democratic townhall, along with the brown and black forum broadcast on the b-e-t network... organizers with drake say it's all part of ensuring the younger generation participates in the political process. "we want to, first of all, make it easy for them to participate in this caucus cycle. but we also, we know that those first few election cycles are vitally important - if people develop a habit of participating in the political process, they will continue to participate in the political process. and that means, not only voting, but attending events, learning about issues, reading the news, and they become much more engaged citizens." :01-:26 drake will also host five precinct caucuses monday night.
scheduled to take the stage at drake university, the rest of the top tier republican presidential candidates will take the stage for their final pre-caucus debate. ted cruz, marco rubio, ben carson, jeb bush, chris christie, john kasich and rand paul made the cut for the main debate this evening. it starts at eight on cnn. they'll be preceded by the "bottom four" in the race. carly fiorina, mike huckabee, rick santorum and jim gilmore. their debate begins at six o-clock. fiorina hit the campaign trail in ankeny today. 'the very act of repealing obamacare...and rolling back these ridiculous regulations..in and of itself unleashes productivity. ronald reagan said a long time ago, but its still true..government is not the solution, government is the problem. government particularly a big bloated complicated federal government in washington dc protected by a professional political class of both parties is the problem. fiorina shared a six point plan to restore america... including securing
simplifying the tax code and passing a new budget bill using technology. that bill for zero based budgeting.. press one for yes..two for no.. you see ladies and gentlemen technology is an incredibly powerful tool. im gonna use it. we use technology for foolish things like throwing people off of islands, voting for voices, im gonna use it for serious things. for channeling the power and common sense and good judgement of the citizens of this nation. because we must restore a citizen government, its what we were intended to be. fiorina is publishing her full plan so that americans can hold her accountable to it if she wins the white house. there is a smaller debate controversy brewing on the democratic side. hillary clinton is pushing for a debate in new hampshire next week as her support there is shrinking. this morning our dave price asked the frontrunner in new hampshire,
we'll hear from him at that rally coming up tonight on the channel 13 news at five. the greater des moines partnership is sprucing up the city's skywalk system ahead of the caucuses. seven local photographers were selected by the partnership to display their work throughout the skywalk. the photos depict the des moines skyline and its natural beauty... the partnership calls it a small
experience for out-of-towners. the photos will remain after the caucuses end. from presidential politics to local politics. the clock is ticking to set the allowable growth rate for schools next year and the year after ... coming up next ... hear what legislators did today to move closer to finally finishing a job that's nearly a year overdue. and did all that walking move us any closer to being the healthiest state in the nation? find out what the new gallup healthways poll says. is it a step in the right direction ... or a false start at the statehouse?
it's a rigged economy that sends most new wealth to the top 1%. and it's held in place by a corrupt political system where wall street banks and billionaires buy elections. my campaign is funded by over two and a half million small contributions. people who know you can't level the playing field by taking more money from wall street. i'm bernie sanders, and i approve this message. join the fight to take back our government.
as if you were a man-male... this is one of the jobs where they have to pay you the same. but there are so many examples where that doesn't happen. i'm going to do everything i can to make sure every woman in every job gets paid the same... ...as the men who are doing that job. i'm hillary clinton and i approve this message. (donkey noise) (elephant noise) (mic screech) there's a big difference between making noise... (mic tap) ...and making sense. (elephant noise) (donkey noise) when it comes to social security, we need more than lip service. our next president needs a real plan to keep social security strong. (elephant noise) hey candidates! enough talk.
the house republicans and senate democrats are once again butting heads over school funding. but their battle is coming to a head earlier in the session thisyear. each side drew their lines in the sand this week. house republicans set their allowable growth rate at two-percent ... senate democrats at four-percent. today the leaders of each caucus played down the "deja vu" fight
gronstal 194838-194903 we had our first conference committee hearing this morning ... the 17 funding is already 350 days late on that. edit to: 201316-201333 our members are taking about this ...
we're woking with the senate ... we're visiting with the senate ... i believe the senate will take a good hard look at that bill ... get it handled quickly. the governor delivered his budget on february 12th. according to state law... that leaves 14 days for lawmakers to set the rate. the newest gallup healthways poll is out ... and iowa still isn't the healthiest state in the nation. the report released today ranks iowa as the 14th healthiest state.

car repairs, home improvements, a family trip... it's not easy to afford them. what did marco rubio do? he put $22,000 in personal expenses on a republican party credit card. rubio's bad judgment caused a scandal and for five years rubio refused to release the credit
card records. marco rubio: skipping major votes... all over the place on immigration... bad judgment. marco rubio: just too many questions. right to rise usa is responsible for the content of this message. finished reading this sentence the national debt will already have increased by more than that.
spending is bad ... and every presidential candidate claims to agree with us. but do any of them really have a plan to do anything about it? a national watchdog group has the answer to that question. joining us now is bob bixby, executive director of the campaign to fix the debt. the group is just releasing a new report on the presidential candidates and the debt ... to read the report for yourself
moving closer there are those who say we cannot defeat a corrupt political system and fix a rigged economy. but i believe we need to lift our vision above the obstacles in place and look to the american horizon. to a nation where every child can not only dream of going to college, but attend one. where quality healthcare will be a birthright of every citizen. where a good job is not a wish, but a reality. where women receive equal pay and a living wage is paid to all. an america where after a lifetime of labor, there is time for rest and grandchildren. a nation that defends our people and our values, but no longer carries so much of that burden alone. i know we can create that america if we listen to our hearts. and that journey begins here in iowa. i'm bernie sanders. i approve this message,

the american people can't afford to wait for ideas that sound good on paper... but will never make it in the real world. the grandmother who has to choose between paying for medicine and paying rent... can't wait. the single mom who desperately needs a raise... can't wait. the student with a mountain of debt can't wait. we can make real progress, right now. i'm caucusing... i'm caucusing... i'm caucusing for hillary clinton.

but giving up a house? we'll explain the massive headache caused by an nfl prank, right after this. one of the areas that i've been particularly interested in is the area of children. all of us have a responsibility, to ourselves, to our children, to each other. we intend to be sure that everybody in this room and every child in this state is somebody. no matter where they're born, no matter to whom they are born. our children's future is shaped both by the values of their parents
it's time to protect the next generation, fill the lives of our children with possibility and hope, open up the doors so that every child has a chance to live up
to his or her god-given potential. i've spent my life fighting for children, families and our country, and i'm not stopping now. (crowd cheers) i'm hillary clinton,
to watch their team in the superbowl... but giving up
a house? we'll explain the massive headache caused by an nfl prank, right after this. a suburban denver man's phone has been ringing off the hook this week a suburban denver man's phone has been ringing off the hook this week after a newspaper ad offered up his home in exchange for a super bowl trip. the only problem ... he never placed any ad. steve staeger has the story. if you want to know how hot real estate in this area is - ask brian lusk about the phone calls he's been getting. this was the first. "she goes is this a real thing, is this house really for sale? and i was clueless, right i said, i think you must have the wrong number. she says well i'm looking at an ad in the newspaper that says your house is for sale." there couldn't be an ad - lusk and his family just moved in 6 months ago. they're settling into their new home. but sure enough - there it was. "2100 sq ft three bedroom two bath - home in erie - for sale best offer." that's a good description of his house - there was even a picture of it -
"getting divorced...leaving her with nothing...will sell home for two tickets to the super bowl." that was the moment he realized this was far from a misprint. "i have a buddy who's a good pittsburgh steelers fan and we for the steelers game and of course the broncos won so i rode him pretty hard for 2 or three days and gave him a lot of heck." this was how his buddy got back at him. "he ran an ad in a denver paper, the boulder paper, the longmont paper apparently several magazines." and the phone calls started rolling in - he was even
offered 2 seats 20 rows up - first class airfare and a suite for a hotel room. none of it's true. the house isn't for sale. and the marriage... "not getting divorced as far as i know. happily married, right babe? yes. right. so i think we are good there." now he's asking you - denver - to stop calling him about it. and he has a message for his friend. "alright brian you're winning....but only for now. it's comin' baby, i've got all of bronco nation thinking of the best way to get back at ya." we'll be back in three minutes
(phone ringing) (phone ringing) you can't deal with something by ignoring it . but that's how some presidential candidates seem to be dealing with social security.
americans work hard and pay into it, so our next president needs a real plan to keep it strong. (elephant noise) (donkey noise) hey candidates!
right now. donald trump says he's skipping tonight's debate.. and holding an event of his own. hear from supporters making a long trip to see him... and find out why there are questions surrounding how the event will benefit veterans. 592217 - i think he is an inspirational candidate and appeals to the youth really well bernie sanders met with metro high schoolers today... what he says students -- some barely old enough to vote -- can learn from this caucus cycle
supposed to be set last year, is now a priority at the start of this session... why democrats and republicans say they want to move quickly... even though they're at odds... four days until the iowa caucuses... and republicans are holding their final debate in des moines tonight... good evening, i'm erin kiernan... and i'm sonya heitshusen... the republican candidates are pouring into des moines for tonight's debate... with the exception of one candidate. donald trump is skiping the debate and holding a solo event at drake. trump claims he was treated unfairly in the first fox debate... so he won't take part. without trump, ted cruz takes center stage... marco rubio and ben carson will be next to him. jeb bush, chris christie, john kasich, and rand paul round out the debate... it starts eight... at the iowa events center..
