kathy: a riverwest businessman triggers controversy after offering to sell tasers to protect against street crime. joyce: 12 news investigative reporter colleen hen l concerns. >> you'll send the attacker running just off that loud crackling noise. >> antonio rocha says neighbors in his riverwest community are increasingly concerned about crime, so he and his brother saw a marketing opportunity. they started taser bros, a self-defense products business. >> we see a lot of muggings, a lot of people being followed. some of these people aren't carrying firearms, and it's because they don't want to carry firearms. >> but rocha says this ad he posted on facebook triggered racial slurs and accusations

people seem to think it's just illegal all around. and so that's the controversy. ,>> in fact, wisconsin law regulates stun guns much like firearms. you can buy them, but you need a concealed carry permit if you take them outside your home. rocha has his ccw. the racist comments have disappeared from facebook. other members have offered apologies for the harassment, and rocha says even more are inquiring about alternatives to >> we would have a lot less people trying to attack us because they would be like everybody in riverwest has a taser or a pepper spray, so you might want to be careful jumping out on somebody in the riverwest neighborhood. joyce: colleen adds that you don't need a concealed carry permit to use a taser or stun gun inside your home or business, but if you're carrying on the street without a permit you could face a felony , conviction, which includes a $10,000 fine and a six-year prison sentence.

wednesday, rain, temperatures below to the mid 40's. have your umbrella handy. it is rain, not snow. kathy: good to know. don't forget that you can take the forecast with you wherever you go with the free 12 news mobile app. tomorrow is one of busiest travel days of the year. joyce: and some airports are already delaying things. patrick is looking at what you need to know for travel. patrick: this map gives us a better pictu across the country. most are showing green, which is a good thing. however, in new york and new jersey incoming flights are delayed. that's because of wind. some flights from milwaukee to new york were delayed today. but other than that, things are running smoothly. according to aaa, the top flight destinations this thanksgiving are las vegas, san francisco and san diego. most people are traveling by car. local police and sheriff's deputies want to make sure everyone is safe. so tomorrow the owi task force , will be out. that's when multiple agencies

there will be a roll call in brookfield tomorrow before the officers head out on the road. joyce: a franklin police officer says he was in the right place at the right time when he helped save a school bus driver. last april, the driver crashed his bus with elementary school students on board. sheldon dutes shows us how the police department is honoring the officer's lifesaving efforts. sheldon: james mickey thrall says he doesn't remember much from the day he crashed this school bus near forest home and rawson. >> i had a massive hear attack. >> it was a heart attack? >> massive heart attack. i had a quadruple bypass. >> lucky for him, though officer kevin mullikin immediately responded to the scene. >> i could see the bus driver. he was unconscious no pulse, not , breathing. sheldon: once mullikin and some bystanders got thrall off the bus, he started cpr. >> they said i was dead and he kept everything flowing and going and going until the paramedics came and zapped me. >> i'm honored.

right time and it feels great, feels great. ? sheldon: tonight, the franklin police department awarded officer mullikin with the lifesaving medal. thrall and the elementary school's principal were at his side. >> when i said thank you, thanked him, when i met with him last week, thank you seemed so minute. very heartfelt, from the heart. and because of him, my heart's still working. sheldon: a civilian who helped out that day also received the make it to tonight's ceremony. kathy: a milwaukee man dies while hunting in dodge county. the sheriff's office tells 12 news they discovered the 46-year-old man dead in a cabin in reeseville. the sheriff says officers are still investigating, but carbon monoxide poisoning may be to blame. the man's 69-year-old father was also in the cabin. he's was taken to a hospital.

office to do a welfare check after the men didn't return home from a weekend hunting trip. a not guilty plea today from the man accused in a hit and run crash that killed a five-year-old milwaukee girl. sherman liddell appeared in court this morning. police say he hit rickyia langham as she walked to church with her mom on leon terrace earlier this month. if convicted, he faces more than 30 years in prison. joyce: west allis and west milwaukee police make a bust involving a stolen car, guns and drugs. spotted a suspicious vehicle around 76th and national. when they tried to pull the vehicle over, it took off. another nearby officer put down stop sticks, and the vehicle crashed in west milwaukee. two men took off running. they were eventually caught. police say the two were in a stolen car and one of the guns , they had was also reported stolen. the department posted the pictures on its facebook page. they say they found heroin, cocaine, prescription drugs, and evidence of drug dealing in the vehicle. smokeless tobacco inside miller

approved a new ordinance today banning the product from the park and all of milwaukee's sports facilities. the ban calls for fines of up to $250, but any violators will first get a warning. >> we don't have tobacco police after there. -- police out there. we hope this would change behavior, and i hope that is what inns up happening. joyce: alderman mu the ban. he says baseball should promote fitness not cancer. , the mayor is expected to sign the ordinance. kathy: help was at the right place at the right time. as mike anderson reports only on 12 news, one marquette university professor is thankful to be alive. >> how old are you now? you were six? does that mean you are in the first grade? >> dr. brian hodgson of the marquette university dental faculty is literally back from the dead. >> i am just going to take a quick peek here.

run on the university track a couple months ago and had a heart attack. >> i remember going down there and running one or two laps, but the next thing i remember is waking up to weeks later in the hospital. >> my mom called me and told me my dad just woke up. >> his daughter amanda is a student at marquette and she's also on the track team. she says her dad works out more than she does. >> and i am just thankful for him being here. >> much of the credit goes to the lacrosse trainer aaron nearby when the doctor went down. >> he wasn't breathing, gasping a little bit. no pulse, and we just started cpr. >> the doctor returned to work this week, teaching future dentists and treating patients. >>'s got telling me i want you to do something else, or is he telling me to continue doing what you are doing? that has probably been the

>> we wish him many more runs on this track, heart attack-free, of course, and many more happy thanksgiving's. kathy: dr. hodgson is also thankful to the marquette university police and the milwaukee fire department for acting so quickly in getting him to the hospital. joyce: what a skilled to know how to do cpr and do it so well. a church invites special members of the community to an early thanksgiving dinner. kathy: while kids can have a lesson in wizardry. patrick has more with a look ahead. patrick: we'll start with that early thanksgiving dinner. it's free. christ the king lutheran church in delafield is serving a day-before-thanksgiving dinner tomorrow. it is the church's fifth year doing it. this year, they're extending a special invitation to members of the military, the elderly, homeless, or anyone looking for company this holiday season. it you're interested, it starts at 3:00 p.m. also tomorrow, a harry potter party for kids.

hosting "fantastic beasts and where to find mp or co--- where to find them." it's for kids in second grade through sixth grade. the librarians will serve as hogwarts adjunct professors, teaching magical arts and more muggle information. there are two sessions, one from 9:00 to noon, the other from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. the library is encouraging kids to dress as their favorite potter character. kathy: an accused drunk driver runs over himself with his truc coming up, what happened to the truck after he fell out of it. kathy: then, the president hands out the medal of freedom today.

joyce: you have to see this one to believe it. a drunk driver in orlando runs himself over trying to leave a parking lot. take a look. the man was about to drive away when his friends ran to the truck to try and stop him because they feared he was too drunk to drive. he fell out of the driver's seat as he turned. legs then the truck kept going , and crashed into a woman's house. she has minor injuries. the driver was able to run off but turned himself into police , hours later. kathy: his friends were right. joyce: yeah, absolutely. in case you haven't noticed, black friday sales seem to be happening like all the time. kathy: we sent wisn 12 news tim elliott to the walmart in greenfield to find out when the sales actually start. >> watch out. >> ahaaaghahaha.

half point underdogs for monday night's game at philadelphia, where they won twice in 2010 on their way to the super bowl. however, it would take a minor miracle for the packers to make the playoffs this year, much less the super bowl. 12 sports stephanie sutton has our exclusive one-on-one with packers kicker mason crosby. stephanie: the packers are so used to winning year after year, how can you stay positive i suppose at a time like this when you have lost four straight games? >> we ve throughout my career where stuff is not bouncing our way, going the right way, and you just find ways to continue to work on those little details and continue to find ways to get better in our own individual ways. that is the thing, each one of us has to look inside and be better versions of ourselves and come together as a team and figure out how to do that together. this is definitely at tough patch year.
