for her. >> good inspiration this ben: in just a few hours, president-elect donald trump will be in wisconsin where he's holding the thank you rally and the big announcement he's expected to make today. adrienne: and a teenage girl gunned down in milwaukee. an accident and the family members who are remembering her this morning. ben: but first, a live look outside. we're in the calm before the storm. another wintry weekend is ahead. we're tracking when snow will start to fall. good morning and welcome to "wisn 12 news this morning." i'm ben wagner. adrienne: and i'm adrienne pedersen. melinda has the day off. it's 4:30 on this tuesday, december 13th. let's start with the forecast. meteorologist sally severson is in the weather center. how is it looking?

sally: it is all about the cold. yes, there is potential for snow later on friday. first and foremost we are deal wlg the chill in the air. the cold front is just to the south and a band of snow associated with it pulling off and away. 14 at the airport. 12 waukesha and west bend. 9 beaver dam. 12 sheboygan. 15 at port washington. here is a look at the windchills inland. so far today, fair and cold. the highs around 13-15. the chills zero to minus 5. we are staying on the cold side tomorrow with the kicking wind and the sunshine. wednesday near 12. ben. ben: when you're on the go, take the weather watch 12 forecast with you.

tablet. ben: our big story this morning, president-elect donald trump is heading to wisconsin today as part of his thank you tour. the president-elect is holding a rally in west allis at state fair park. vp-elect mike pence will be there too. trump and pence both made several trips to wisconsin during their campaign. the rally is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. adrienne: we're expecting to find out who will be the next secretary of state later this morning. tim, what do we know so far? tim: sources involved in trump's transition say trump will choose rex tillerson is the ceo for exxon mobile. he has close ties to russia's vladimir putin. that could mean trouble, the senate will have to confirm the appointment, and right now, lawmakers are investigating whether russian hackers influenced the presidential election. tillerson has never worked in government or policy. he's been with exxon since graduating college. back to you, ben. ben: today is the federal deadline for presidential recounts.

yesterday when the state elections commission certified the results. president-elect trump picked up 131 more votes solidifying his win over hillary clinton. trump tweeted about the recount last night calling the push for a recount a scam. adrienne: looking ahead, a controversial speaker coming to uw-m's campus today. milo yiannopoulos is part of the so-called alt-right movement and an editor for the conservative site breitbart. earlier this year he got permanently banned from twitter for harassing snl comedian lesliees when his speech was announced, some uw-m students signed petitions asking campus leaders to denounce the event. now students are planning to protest at the speech which is sold out. ben: right now, a milwaukee family is looking for answers after a 15-year-old girl was shot and killed. it happened yesterday near 35th and silver spring. someone fired shots that came into melanie johnson's home and hit her. officers say they aren't sure yet if she was targeted or if it

believe that she's gone. >> we're hurting behind this alot, we're hurting behind us, this is really going to be tough for us to go through. ben: police are still searching for the shooter. adrienne: a group of brazen teens accused of stealing several cars over months chose the wrong victim. the woman who helped police catch them spoke only to wisn 12 news. >> i went around and placed the toe of my boot in a very socially significant place and told him if he moved or he struggled he would walk funny for the rest of his life and urinate through a tube and i meant it. adrienne: she told police that the teens tried to carjack her but she fought them off. now two 17-year-olds and one 18-year-old are facing charges. according to police, they call themselves the ct mob, short for cut throat. adrienne: according to court documents, the same suspects are also linked to a car break-in at the home of mixed martial arts star anthony pettis.

cadillac and range rover parked in pettis' driveway. this happened on november 30th. police arrested two of the suspects the same day. police tell us there aren't as many car thefts this year as last. so far in 2016, people reported just more than 5900 cars stolen. in 2015, more than 6800 stolen. to put it in perspective that's a difference of nearly 900 cars. >> wisn 12 news time is 4:35. a delivery driver goes rogue. ben: he drove up with a pizza box pretending to drop off a meal but he walked away with something that didn't belong to him. adrienne: plus, a pig wanders around a senior center spreading joy. how bacon is helping these

thursday and coldest wednesday night into thursday and the chills later tomorrow night and thursday into the ten to 20 degree below zero range. arctic high pressure is influencing the weather. the temperatures very cold. feels like 14 at the airport. ben. ben: on to traffic watch. a the pavement is looking better than yesterday morning. it is early and the drive times are all in the green. ben: new this morning, a phenomenon happening up north as it gets colder. adrienne: take a look, this is lake superior as seen from duluth. such eerie pictures. steam is rising over the lake. it happens when the water is warmer than the air. look at that.

this happens on lake michigan too. >> we'll have to take pictures. >> a pizza guy in indiana you definitely don't want coming to your door. ben: turns out he's a fake. he dressed up as a pizza delivery driver and stole packages from front steps in indianapolis. one homeowner caught the thief on camera. the box he got away with only had a pair of slippers inside. police haven't found the fake pizza guy yet. the rightful owner is now warning people in the ar t this could happen to them too. ben: another unusual package thief, this one in missouri. adrienne: the victim is calling her the granny who stole christmas. the elderly woman caught on camera stealing packages from front porches. the victim says she took three packages from his porch all in front of a surveillance camera and she was driving a hummer at the time. the victim says she looks like

>> wisn 12 news time now is 4:44, tuesday morning. temperatures ranging from 12-14 degrees. we are not getting much warmer than this and parking in the teens for much of the day. touch cooler along the lake. elsewhere, 10 fond du lac. 14 at the airport. we have a pair of 12s coming in at racine and kenosha. raw cold in the forecast.

that is headed our way at the end of the week. ben? ben: later today comedian bill cosby will be in court. it's the latest step in an assault case against him. wisn 12 news' tim elliott is following the details. tim? tim: cosby is accused of drugging and then assaulting a woman in pennsylvania back in 2004. she is one of dozens of women who have accused cosby of assault. those other allegations will be the focus of a court hearing today. a judge needs to decide if their testimonies should be allowed in 13 other women could testify depending on the judge's decision. this hearing is expected to last two days. cosby has pleaded not guilty and denies all of the accusations. the trial is set to begin in june. adrienne: new this morning, a police officer in texas is out of the hospital after being hit by a driver. the crash was caught on camera last week. the officer was conducting a sobriety test by the side of the road when another driver hit

the officer pushed his dui suspect out of the way potentially saving his life. that driver was not hurt although he was arrested for dui. >> his own safety was the least of his concerns at the moment, he was concerned for the welfare of the person he was dealing with. adrienne: his fellow officers are calling it a miracle that he survived. police say the driver who hit the officer was also drunk. she's now facing charges. york home destroyed by a gas explosion. a propane tank is reportedly to blame for leveling the house. no one was home when it exploded. neighbors had called the propane company after smelling gas just the day before the explosion. crews had a service call set up at 9:00 a.m. just hours after the explosion. >> i'm blessed and fortunate.

from here. ben: friends and neighbors say they're relieved that the men weren't home during the blast and that everyone is safe. adrienne: new this morning. fire breaks out at a luxury high-rise in dubai. we found this video on twitter showing the flames. the upscale apartment building is on dubai's palm island. you can see the flashing. the building was evacuated and the fire was put out. no one was hurt. ben: yesterday we told you about flooding in california. now there's good news. all that water has helped the state's drought. the heavy rain has helbu up the water supply in northern california. reservoirs are at or above capacity and more water is expected to fill those reservoirs later this week. ben: also in california, crews are working to fill a sinkhole right along the coast. look at this. the hole opened up along a popular walking trail near san francisco. cement has been brought in to repair part of the sea wall damaged by that sinkhole.

irrigation pipe washed away sand behind the sea wall making it weaker. eventually part of the wall collapsed. adrienne: new this morning, a car crashes into a fire hydrant leading to even more problems in albuquerque. crews are working to repair a water line that broke because of the crash. the flooding from the hydrant caused a sinkhole and even put a road nearby at risk. crews are warning drivers to stay away from the area while they get everything back to normal. ben: police in oregon say they've arrested a red kettle thief. they say a 19-year-old stole two salvation army donation kettles from two stores. investigators say they id'd him from surveillance video inside the stores and they later found one of the kettles at his home. police say there was around 170 dollars in the kettles. he's facing three different charges this morning. ben: the slice of ice at red arrow park opens for another season today. you can bring your own skates and skate for free or rent a pair. the official party to celebrate

we have snow in the forecast for friday and saturday. it gets cold again on sunday. early this morning, temperatures in the metro 12-14 degrees as you can see. a little cooler fond du lac and beaver dam 10 degrees. 13 at lake geneva. 12 in racine and kenosha. the forecast is a frozen one and it is going stay the nasty chill is around. we are keeping the temperatures in the area of 12-15 degrees for today. here is the satellite and the radar. the cool front just to the south and bringing in the colder air as the arctic high pressure remains in place. 3 below zero at the twin cities. it is 9d degrees below at ger

right now the temperatures in the low teens. feels like 14 at the airport. right now the winds are fairly light. i anticipate they are staying light throughout the day and picking up tonight and tomorrow. so not much in the way of clouds. here we are at 6:30 this evening it is quiet. a couple of clouds for tonight and tomorrow. the dry look is going in the forecast thanks low pressure and cold air in place as well. for today, the temperatures today and tomorrow, low to mid teens. windy and frigid. the windchills more significant 10-20 degrees below zero. friday brings a warm up and low pressure is approaching from the plains. a chance for accumulation friday amp, friday night and saturday morning. ben.

massacre at the orlando nightclub. tim, people were gathering there last night to honor the victims? >> yes. all day yesterday the people were remembering the attack at pulse nightclub. last night there was a vigil honoring the people that were murdered. mateen shoot up the club. there was a private ceremony for shooting. last night's memorial service was open to the public and a huge crowd gathered to remember the victims. >> emotional event for sure. >> a doctor at the children's hospital in wisconsin comes up with a way to help out the kids. nordstrom is selling a rock for $85 and the doctor is saying
