been shocked in that same area. at first we thought it was an isolated incident. one. electrocuted in killed at this apartment complex behind me. as the hours passed, we are learning that more dog owners say their dogs are also shocked and nothing was done to correct the problem. >> i'm beside myself. . i lost my best friend reporter: the heartbreak is raw for pam kelly. her dog was killed monday night. kelly took her out for the regular walk. all of a sudden he started to yelp and then collapsed. >> i do not know what was going on. i thought my dog broke her leg. if i just picked her up and moved her from the area, she might still be alive. reporter: she tried petting the dog to see what was wrong and that's when electric current shot through her body. her son rushed to help if you were shocked said that his iphone stopped working. a third person was also shocked. now it

the dog was just the latest victim of this mysterious electric current. >> it's a horrible feeling because my dog is also been shocked. reporter: residents say they have been complaining to equity apartments, the company that manages the building that something was wrong. the company said they never found anything. finally this weekend and electricians as a wire underneath the cement caused the dog to die. . the problem still is not fixed >> our tenants put up signs telling people the dog was electrocuted. that they should not be going out back. the management took the signs down. reporter: pam says she will not let the dog die in vain. she will contact the department of agriculture for an autopsy. abc 7 has reached out to the apartment complex in the management company. so far they have not responded to our request for comment. sam sweeney, abc 7 news. jummy: now we move to a happy ending for a dog rescued

fairfax county. the dog fell through nice --ice about 10 feet from the shore. rescue teams arrived in under 10 minutes. they found the dog struggling over able to quickly jump in and pull the puppy to safety. medics was evaluated by on the scene and turned over to the owner with no injuries. we should see some help from the sun today. warming is to the 40's. brian is here with a look at your first forecast. brian: we have gone through a couple of ups and downs as of late. today things are finally calming down for sure. we had clouds this morning. we also had a few more clouds starting to build back in. we kind of go back and forth between the clouds in the sunshine. we are definitely warmer to the south. 44 culpeper. 45 at andrews. hagerstown at 38.

as we head of the afternoon we may peak have the upper 40's to near 50. they might drop back a little bit throughout the afternoon. we see some clouds moving in. we are looking at a cooler stretch thursday will be a bit cooler. if you can hang in there, 60's for the weekend. possibly 30-35 degrees warmer next weekend. no precipitation that all. more in just a bit. jummy: thank you. the temperatures and the shifts we have seen has been causing major problems on the roadways. potholes are posing safety risks and financial pain. jeannette reyes has details on the gw parkway. reporter: it is a potholed mess along the gw parkway. that is why right now crews are working frantically to patch up as many as they can.

at 5:00. pope francis is wrapping up his trip to mexico. he will visit see it at warez -- ciudad juarez prison. he is also holding a large outdoor mass. thousands of american catholics are expected to cross into mexico to attend. the trip focuses heavily on the injustices facing mexico's poorest citizens. now we switch a little bit closer to home to talk about our forecast. it almost feels like it is spring. i had a coughing fit. [laughter] brian: i will start reading. sorry about that. we are warming up a bit today. we do take a little dip tomorrow. a little bit up on friday for the weekend is 60's on saturday and upper 50's on sunday. the weekend showing a lot of promise. take a look at our live weather cam from washington lee high school in arlington.

you can see a few scattered clouds. we had some clouds earlier today and they will be building back this afternoon. the best way for us to describe it is a mix of sun and clouds. we do have a little bit of a breeze at 12. at a little bit of a chill factor if you will. 41 at aspen hill. 47 in full search. -- falls church. 44 in largo. i was looking at the satellite picture because we had some clouds earlier this morning. they have fanned but they are moving back in. if you're watching along the 81 corridor and the shenandoah valley, things are a little bit cloudier. if your heading down south towards virginia and madison and orange counties, a little bit more sunshine right now. they goes back and forth. you can definitely see the ha your cloud cover around us. there is a pocket right in the center of

are looking nice. futurecast looking ahead. it will be a bit cooler tomorrow. maybe near 40 degrees at best. however, a bit of a cool breeze. as we have for the afternoon sunshine but cool. as we head into friday the temperatures start to surge backup. here is the temperature graphic. a little cooler, coolish today. thursday is the coldest day of the week for the next couple of days. and then the cold air retreats. as we head into friday, saturday and sunday, warmer air builds in. a very nice weekend. last weekend we were in the 20's. this weekend we are in the 50's and 60's. as we had to the afternoon the clouds and sunshine will come back and forth together. about 51. winds at about 5-10.

jummy: and want to get back to breaking news in montgomery county. police are investigating a shooting at a downtown silver spring motel. kevin lewis is there live at the breaking details. reporter: the shooting happened morning.:05 this you see a number of police officers and detectives talking in the parking lot. the seven run 11:05. police telling us at least one adult male was shot and taken to the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. we presume the shooting having in a room on the second floor. you can see yellow police draped -- tape draped on the second floor.

officers and detectives standing right with a yellow tape is draped. we do not know the reason behind the shooting. there is no suspect in custody the police tell us this does not appear to be a random shooting. from what we can tell this is a motel that seems to have people that stay here for longer periods of time. it is not appear this is a high tourist motel by any stretch of the imagination. we are waiting for police to arrive and we will bring you more information as we learned. kevin lewis, abc 7 news. jummy: thank you. coming up after the break, one final check of the forecast. we will be right back.
