3 happening today, suspects in two high-profile murder cases in asheville are scheduled to appear in court. a probable cause hearing is scheduled this morning for pierre griffin, the second. the hearing was continued earlier this month. griffin is accused of killing uhon johnson, alexandra king and tatianna diz. the buncombe county district attorney's also requested a rule-24 hearing to determine whether the state will seek the death penalty. 3 robin richardson, the woman accused of killing a w-l-o-s employee, is also scheduled to be in court this morning. richardson is charged with first-degree murder for tim fry's death. back in december, warrants state that richardson shot fry, claiming fry had assaulted her. she remains in 3 3 3 an asheville man remains in critical condition after a weekend car crash. troopers say on saturday afternoon, christopher love was driving over 100 miles an hour on charlotte highway when he lost control and slammed into a concrete wall. love was thrown

charged with d-w-i and several other traffic violations. 3 3 a hiker was airlifted to a charlotte hospital after falling at crowders mountain state park. it happened yesterday afternoon near the boulders overlook on the cleveland county side of the park. park officials say the 23-year-old victim fell 25-to-30 feet, and was seriously hurt. he is being treated at the carolinas medical center. the victim's 3 3 3 mcdowell county d-s-s is seeing a growing number of children coming into foster care.... that means the need for foster families is growing too. news 13's lauren brigman is live from the county d-s-s office in marion. lauren, a special meeting today aims to garner more foster families? currently 26 families foster children here in mcdowell, but the number of children in need of foster homes, has more than doubled since last year.the info meeting is tonight at 6, at mcdowell county d-s-s.

"w-n-c for bernie" held a rally at "new mountain", before the large crowd marched downtown to pack square. they say their candidate's grassroots fundraising approach is the right way to run a campaign. 3 the extent to which money in politics has tipped the scale is quite possibly passed the tipping point and if not it's so close that if there's anyway of saving it we need to do it now. there will be an open house tonight at the space on highway-70 in swannanoa, right across from ingles. 3 3 four people are killed in a plane crash in texas. that is making headlines this morning.

3 it happened yesterday in navasota, about 60-miles northwest of houston. authorities say they found the wreckage of the single-engine aircraft in a wooded area near the municipal airport. the federal aviation administration is investigating. 3 a teenager who police say was armed with a broomstick, was shot and critically injured by officers in utah. authorities say two officers were called saturday night, to break-up a fight near a downtown homeless shelter. they say police arrived to find a 17-year-old hitting another person with a broom-stick. authorities say the teen tried to attack the officers, and they opened- fire. after the shooting, onlookers started throwing rocks and bottles at police. 3 "disneyland" in california and "walt disney world" in florida now have demand-based pricing. as of yesterday, the parks will charge three different rates, depending on time of year ... for a single- day ticket. the calendar will be divided into value, regular and peak periods. a regular pass, for most weekends and summer weeks goes up to 105- dollars. the peak-day price

3 the third time was not the charm for the private space company space-x. the company called off the launch of its falcon-nine rocket last night, after two similar cancellations in recent days. space-x says on its website the rocket and its payload are fine. but it is not saying why the launch was scrubbed again. the rocket carries a satellite that would bring internet and phone access to millions of people in asia. 3 3 3 3 hundreds of physical therapists across north carolina are now getting into an extra line of work. they are now using needles to treat patient's pain. it is called dry needling. there is currently no minimum training requirement. a lawsuit cites an asheville case where a patient suffered a collapsed lung as a result of the therapy. 3 we are told we are in charge of the practice of acupuncture in the state and we are to protect the public tonight at 11 news 13 investigates the battle between acupuncturists and physical therapists over dry needling. plus, we look

3 a section of interstate-75 in tennessee could be off-limits to drivers for weeks. the state d-o-t is assessing a rock slide on the highway. the slide hit the interstate in campbell county friday afternoon, shutting it down in both directions. state troopers say there are eight separate spots on the interstate that need to be blocked off. the highway patrol is re-directing traffic to other roads in the area. officials still expect heavy back-ups during the afternoon rush hour weekdays. 3 3 3 the time is now 5:xx. it was a packed night.. filled with controversy, music and awards. all the highlights from the 88th academy awards next in a
