liability issues having an event where athletes are competeing without someone with professional medical training" senator tod bowman, is backing the bill for many reasons. he coached varsity sports for 20 years senator. his son, beau, wrestled and suffered a severe concussion-but the trainer caught it and stopped him from continuing. "it was two weeks before he was able to start practicing again" the bill suggests other sports like varsity basketball and baseball follow suit. but the biggest hurdle for the bill? it would be an unfunded state mandate. "i dont look lightly at the cost this would give the schools to support student athletes " "anytime you have an unfunded mandate, youre asking the schools to do more with less" while financial strain is a continuing concern, local athletic directors say many schools have a similar policy in place and are for the bill. "i dont see this as big of a problem to financially support when you limit the number of sports, most are cogering more sports than that"

jack: investigators believe speed was likely a factor in the crash. the names of the driver and the passenger are not being released yet. stephanie: a late night burglary attempt led to a police chase last night. early this morning, 31 year-old zeferino padilla and 33 year-old felipe padilla lead police on a high-speed chase, after an attempted burglary on the six hundred block of park avenue. the driver, zeferino, eventually lost control of the car, crashing into a ditch. then ran into a nearby wooded were arrested soon after. jack/1shot: there was a drug bust in webster county yesterday. two people at a trailer in the trailer park, long drug investigation. investigators say 21 year old and 25 year old danielle wilson were fake meth . both were arrested and taken to the webster county jail.

with jon schaeffer. we are iowa sports" jon: welcome back- tonight the iowa wild will go pink-- in the rink as they try to raise awareness and money to fight breast cancer. it's a cause that hits close to home for many-- including the wild team itself. look around a room-- or a stadium-- you will find people impacted by cancer. tonight at wells fargo arena-- one of the many people effected is wild associate coach david cundiff.

and my father are people that the disease unfortunately seems like it takes the best. " cunniff's father-- john-- is in the u.s. hockey hall of fame. he was a great player-- and an even better coach. "i used to skate with his dad in the summer. that's how we trained going into our camps because the old man ran some pretty grueling camps." a quote from john cunniff titled winning is unusual spans across the wild weight room wall "you can't be one of the crowd you, you have to be different, you have to train different, you have to act different. it's one of the many lessons david took away from his dad before he passed 14 years ago. those lessons have helped him accel as a coach. "pink and what it represents and the fight. there are people fighting cancer you're not going to find anyone tougher in the world. so to me pink can be a tough color." the iowa wild drop the puck at 7 pm tonight still time to get down there and support a great cause! and some great hockey. jon: the suspension is over.... this afternoon, iowa state announced that center jameel mckay will return saturday versus texas, but won't start. his teammates and coaches think this week has been a learning experience that will pay divdends down the road.
