hall... john kasich is still reaching out to voters here in the capital city. he'll be holding a town hall at sentate's end... this morning at ten. he also has stops planned in conway, mount pleasant and charleston. g-o-p front runner donald trump will also in charleston campaigning... in addition to pawley's island the myrtle beach. meanwhile jeb bush will be busy in the upstate... hitting the road with his mother and former first lady... barbara bush... in spartanburg, greenville and central. marco rubio and ted cruz will be campaigning close to home. that's right. rubio getting a big boost here in south carolina... with governor nikki haley, representative trey gowdy and senator tim scott... all joining him at a rally at the columbia marriott hotel. that's at nine this morning. ted cruz will be holding his own rally in west columbia... at the eagle aviation hangar. that's at 5:30. and ben carson will be making a campaign stops in

33 here's a quick look at stories that are making headlines across the midlands. richland county deputies say when no one came to pick a six-year- old up from school... what they discovered at the child's home... was far worse. a school resource officer went to that child's home on amsterdam drive... to conduct a welfare check.... and found the child's parents dead. richland county coroner gary watts says stephanie wallace died from a gunshot wound to the head. her estranged husband.. keith wallace... died from a self- inflicted gunshot wound. columbia police are trying to keep a case from going cold. it's been five months since charles kusko was found shot inside his home on budon court. the department's lead investigator says there are multiple factors at play...

all for a good cause. adways... beginning tonight... the columbia police department is having a public safety checkpoint in north columbia. the area was selected based on traffic violations... including, d-ui- and speeding incidents. this is an effort to reduce traffic collisions. any vehicle that is stopped will be checked for a valid driver's licence... poissible impairment... seatbelt use... and other safety regulations. and speaking of public safety... the lexington public safety department and the lexington county sheriffs department are battling it out on the basketball court tonight... and it's all for a good cause. proceeds from the game are supporting the make a wish foundation and a local women and children's shelter. it all starts at seven tonight at gilbert high school. tickets are seven-dollars in

a wall to stem illegal border crossings. during last night's town hall right here in columbia... trump said the pontiff's comments were "probably a little nicer" than first reported. despite this, trump is not backing down on his view on immigration reform. during last night's town hall... trump said... the pope doesn't see the, "strain" illegal immigration and "drugs pouring across the border"... causes. it's something trump is looking to change as a part of his immigration reform plan. trump immigration plan would involve building a wall across the southern border... one trump insists mexico would pay for trump said if elected president.. he also plans to deport all eleven million undocumented immigrants within 18 months to two years. ted cruz also says he will increase deportation... in addition to stopping sanctuary policies. cruz says he also plans to suspend and audit h-one-b

33 33 mcdonald's is testing out their own version of southern cooking... they're creating a twist to the classic, chicken and waffles. they call it... "the chicken mcgriddle" it's a fried chicken patty surrounded by a pair of maple syrupy-sweet buns. but if you want to get your hands on this new menu item... you'll need to go to ohio. eleven mcdonald's restaurants in central ohio are testing the chicken mcgriddle through the end of march. however... it could go national depending
and walmart workers are getting a pay raise... the company says it will boost it's minimum wage to ten dollar an hour from nine- dollars.... tomorrow. the change applies to virtually all of walmart's hourly workers... including some supervisors. this change does not come cheap though. the pay raises will cost the company an additional one-point-five billion dollars this year. ford motor company is promoting their pot-hole protection technology on the "20-17 fusion v-six sport sedan." the company says the shock absorber system automatically stiffens when sensors detect a pothole. this allows the system to keep the wheel elevated instead of dropping into the hole. ford says the fusion is the first mid-sized car in its price range that is offering the feature. looks like someone'e'riding in style this morning... crysty what can you tell us? one 33 lucky person is a step closer
double-oh-seven the 10-aston martin d-b-10 car that was specially built for the new james bond "spectre" film... sold in an auction yesterday. but this was no poor mans gain. the new ride had a hefty fine of three and a half million dollars. the lucky owner hasn't been identified yet... and parking the car in the drive way is pretty much all they can do. that's because it was created without any safety features or certifications required to be street-legal. bill 33 cosby is suing one of the women accusing him of rape. lawyers for cosby filed a lawsuit against andrea constand...according to a newly-filed, redacted complaint. in the suit..cosby claims constand violated a 20-06 settlement when she worked with the montgomery county district

wind are calm, we will see them out of the east-southeast around 10 miles a hour. not expecting a windy day, pretty calm, quiet conditions, we are expecting to see that later on which will make for a pleasant afternoon as highs climb into the high 60s. high pressure moving toward our area, it's in north carolina right now and that will bring in the wind out of the east as you have the clockwise flow around the high. we will see a little moisture come our way but also warm air and nice more kind of dry conditions as well. we will also see a sunny set up for your day, all the disturbances, all that mess are well back to the north. look at the models for us, you see the rain state ofs away but the cloud cover continues through tomorrow. if you are heading to the ballpark, we have a couple event out and about, it will be cloudy for us but you will still see a

of refugees in n uth carolina. the lawsuit was brought by walter brian bilbro who warns resettling refugees brings the potential for terrorism or violent crime. the suit names governor nikki haley, the department of social services and two non-profits that help resettle refugees. rochelle: and as many as three dozen members of congress will be here in the palmetto state next month. lawmakers plan to explore the role the state has played in the fight for civil rights and to worship at the charleston church where nine black parishioners were killed back in june. the faith and politics institute announced the three-day pilgrimage to south carolina will start march 18th. rochelle: shifting gears to sports, it's something we're starting to expect from the lady gamecocks. crysty has more on a big win.

on some of the hot-button issues this election. today, we're taking a closer look at the candidate's stance on immigration. donald trump is softening his response to pope francis who claimed the gop front runner is "not christian" if he favors using a wall to stem illegal
security along the border bush says he also wants a strong e-verifty system to ensure businesses aren't hiring illegal immigrants. bush also wants to deport immigrants who are overstaying the time allowed on their visas. john kasich is also speaking out about the pope's comments towards his political rival. >> crysty: at last night's town hall in columbia, kasich said he's "pro-pope," but adds america "has a right to build a wall." during an interview with cnn kasich says he's also open to a possible pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants already in the country because they contribute a lot to america according to case inch. >> rochelle: ben carson says one of his top priorities as president would be to seal the border with mexico in order to stop to flow of drugs and violence into the united states. by doing so, carson says he hopes to avoid "tragedies that

temperatures around freezing for most of us. we're at the magic number of 32 downtown, several spots around 30, it's below freezing, but actually we're seeing our warmest spot at 30%, colder spots. right around 37, still a cold start for them, not close to that freezing number. freezing won't be a big issue, won't see any moisture at all, don't have to worry about any icing, it will be coal, 30 degrees, cold either way as you are heading out the door. clear skies, lots of sunshine coming our way and wind very calm at the moment. this is something we haven't seen of late, we have seen consistent breezy conditions, several weather patterns, it's been windy for us, whether in the morning or afternoon. starting out with a quiet start, we will see more of the same this afternoon. we have a high pressure system
be wind out of the east for us. that will bring a nice sunny forecast, dry forecast but also a slightly warmer one as well. that's good news, warmer air in addition to the sunshine, something we didn't see yesterday. we saw highs climb to 58 but we didn't quite get to 60 even with the abundant sunshine we were seeing throughout the afternoon. with wind out of the east and southeast that brings warmer air, also cloud, but that will be delayed reactn to the cloud later on tonight. not so much seeing cloud cover before probably dinner time this evening. look for sunny afternoon, we head into your saturday forecast, for the most part it will be warmer but not necessarily as sunny. if you want to see the sunshine, you will get it today. if you want the warm air that is coming our way saturday and sunday. we will see highs in the 70s for the weekend.

the stakes are high with the republican presidential hopefuls making a last minute push to gain votes here in the palmetto state. last night undecided voters got to hear donald trump, john kasich and jeb bush at a town hall at the usc law school hosted by cnn. at the same time there was a town haul in nevada between hillary clinton and bernie sanders. hillary clinton accused sappedders of attacking obama and her husband, a claim sanders denies. and it looks like hillary clinton is in store for a big boost here in the palmetto state ahead of next saturday's democratic presidential primary. >> rochelle: it does, according to reports, representative jim clyburn, the highest-ranking african-american member of the house of representatives, will
