local 10 news at we start with breaking news out of northwest miami-dade. a little boy shot and killed. the victim's family now heart broken as police search for the shooter. we have team coverage tonight at the hospital where the child's family is gather. >> first derrick is live at the scene with the latest tonight. >> reporter: the community absolutely devasted over this learning that 6-year-old was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting. i'll step out of the way. it's still a very active scene at this apartment complex off northwest 12th avenue.

to find clues and searching for those responsible. just a little bit earlier we spoke to the police director who is frustrated. >> what do you do? you go out and are to worry about bullets hitting you. here we had that situation where a bullet hit a small young child who will not make it to his birthday in july. >> reporter: and take a look at that little boy. this is who fami identifies as the victim. 6-year-old kg carter. a second grader just hanging out whwre he lived and he was shot and killed. n arrests have been made but the police vague description of the suspects. they s s they saw a black sedan. witnesses did with three black males fleeing from the complex. it's unclear what the motive may have been. we see police out here. they shut down the complex and they're seararing for the person or people responsible for taking

injuries. i can tell you within the last few minutes the school superintendant has arrived here at the hospital and has been speaking with family. family who say they are trying to come to terms with what they lost today. >> they took my baby. he was just joyful. he was a happy kid. (crying)(inaudible). >> reporter: family in tears after learning gunshots took the life of 6-year-old king carter. his mother says king was in the first grade. family members told us he loved played sports. >> all type of cartoons. he loved everything (inaudible). >> reporter: we were there as family members who rushed to the hospital just minutes earlier saturday afternoon came outside screamimi in disbelief after learning king carter didn't survive. his cousin said king

with a student was released from jail after posting bail. he went home with an ankle monitor. he is accused of engaging in a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student. he has been fired in order to house rest. his next hearing is in march. a woman is in a coma after police say she was nearly been to death by a roommate she met on craigslist. she claimed it was in self-defense. byron mitchell said that danielle jones came at him with a knife. byron mitchell is charged with attempted murder. randal arrested. he is facing multiple charges including criminal mischief. he is the clumsy cook caught on camera. you can see he is -- there he is falling.

specks of green. mostly in miami-dade. watch again as we loop this back. just very small light moving showers. highest concentration near downtown and south beach and government cut and it's been -- on and off very light and fast movong showers. we'll keep it 10 to 20% chance to see one of those as the moisture continues to move through. almost everyone has the wind now around 15 miles per hour. we have been watching this gust into the low 20s throughout the day. it's keeping the temperatures mild. some of the cooler spots sitting at 70 degrees. key west still 73. and tomorrow morning we'll ke up in the mid-60s across much of miami-dade and broward. 68 marathon. 68 key west. up towards the southeast to pick up on rainfall. thahas leading to

carolina. waiting on the next storm system to really gain strength over the next few days. for us area of high pressure keeping clouds around. keeping east wind in the forecast. by monday, that wind starts to shift more out of the southeast. provide warmer conditions. mixture of sun and clouds and a cold front pushing through our neck of the woods wednesday into thursday. so the by tomorrow looks fairlydecent. surf 1 to 2 feet. no advisories on the dade and broward coast line. so the extended forecast, 79 tomorrow. in the low 80s monday and tuesday. and that cold front continues to slow down. right now that passage looks to be wedneneay night into thursday. bringing showers and thunderstorms in the forecast. will d-wade give it a go?
