2016. philadelphia public and archdiocesan schools are closed. the entire list is controlling at the bottom of the screen. you can find full closings at 6abc.com. good morning, it is monday, january 25. we gin with the team compage of the cleanup from the blizzard of 2016. katherine scott and annie mccormick are standing by, but we'll start with david murphy and karen rogers good morning. >> reporter: good morning, everyone we have sun and clouds today, it's cold this morning, temperatures 22 this philadelphia. 17 in allentown. numbers in the teens and trenton, wilmington, 224 in reading. 11 in lancaster. 8 in millville. the good news from all these numbers, these not much windy out there, so we're not talking windchill. still cold as you head out. 18 by 6, 19 by 8:00 a.m.
a couple of issues for the morning commute we have refreezing on sidewalks that have not been fairly salted. there can be ice under foot. may be the same story on side streets and main roads where the salt has been diluted. we heard from one of the plow guys talking about that a little while ago. parking lots will be icy. the right lanes on some roads may be partially snow covered. as the plows came through, they piled it upen the right and you don't have a lane available. 21 degrees by 11:00. 1:00 p.m., 32. the high is 34 at 3:00 p.m. it will be milder starting tomorrow. karen, i'll have details on that coming up. >> reporter: we have an accident in our camera, king of prussia 422 eastbound to the schuylkill expressway eastbound we have penndot on the scene. we have slushy conditions on the
telling you to be careful on the ramp. looks like he is picking up debris and sweeping up right now. as we look live we have a couple of vehicles on the scene. switching the camera view, fort washington 309 pennsylvania turnpike, traffic is moving okay. again you see the ramp, we have melting and refreezing on the sides of the ramp leaving a narrow area where you can drive through. now we're in a black hole. we have trouble with our cameras. i'll send it back to you, right now we have the map of route 1 oxford bypass. we have not had a lot of accidents this morning, because there's not a lot of people out there yet. secondary roads are less clear matt and tam. katherine scott is talking mass transit at the septa paoli
station. >> reporter: septa tells us it's a situation always septa gets the trains back up and running. we had two trains coming through here, they have problems between malvern and thorndale. the first train came through at 4:53. that train was over 20 minutes late, the next train arrived two minutes behind schedule. so they are getting moving this morning. what came through was the heavy duty equipment that crews have been using to clear the snow over the weekend. septa has been monitoring the conditions throughout the area that's 50% of the bus routes are operational. supervisors have been driving around looking at the routes. they are improving. the market frankford and broad
street lines are running once again this morning. norristown high speed line is limited because they are working to clear snow from the third rail in spots. with all the drifting snow it got up to 3 feet in spots. they had a big task there. the regional rails service is expected on all lines, but it will be a slow start. it will be a slow start we have not operated trains for a couple of days now, we are doing what we can to bring people in early to make sure they will operate, but it's going to be a slow start. >> reporter: and back here live we're taking a look at the parking lot here at paoli you can see there are cars parked, but there are mountains of snow there, as well. septa says 35% of the parking spaces around the area are unavailable because of the huge piles of snow in the lots. septa will be trucking the snow out this week, keep in mind when
you come to the stations you might have a hard time finding parking. katherine scott channel 6 "action news." it's slow going on a lot of side streets they are still covered in snow. annie mccormick is live in mount airy with the latest on that good morning. >> reporter: good morning, tam, the good news is roads like upsal that are well traveled are clear. but other roads that are covered in ice, people are having issues getting to the car even if they dig them out, are homing that -- hoping that the plows come through here today. early monday morning you can spot snow covered cars. residents had to deal with snow cleanup and ice removal and black ice. the city of philadelphia kept a
24/7 operation going. you can see the plows working on market street well into the night. with more than 20 inches in our part of the area from the city to the suburbs, the snow proved dangerous. in malvern piles of snow lined neighborhoods and main roads and means. and firefighters in norristown had to make sure sidewalks were clear to hydrants were visible. we have to clean out the fire hydrants to be accessible if we have an emergency. >> reporter: and if you wake up this morning your street hadn't been plowed, many streets were plowed, but the snow came down later and they to keep up with them. if your street is not passable call 311 and have a plow come out. annie mccormick channel 6 "action news." residence at the jersey shore ten to count up -- continue to count up their losses. high tide in ocean city brought
more street flooding. action cam found four and five foot cliff chewed out a sands do you know at 5th street. a homeowner's home caught fire in sea isle city. i have nice furniture that was passed down in the family, i had for many, many years. >> reporter: this is the beach erosion in belmawr, new jersey. the mayor of long beach township sent us a picture of the a home damaged in holgate. delaware governor, jack markell has lifted the state of emergency in his state including the level one driving warning for new castle kent and as he sx county. he viewed coastal areas by hell corporate. there were no major problems reported from flooding, state office will open at 10:00 a.m.

parking space. we're looking live at third and market. we're seeing extra snow on the roads there. we have traffic moving along at a good clip they have done their job now your job is to take it easy on the roads. in the overnight hours we had refreezing. 22 in philadelphia. 17 in allen torn. 8 in millville. icy once again. the heavy snow caused a roof to collapse in quakertown. chopper 6 was over hellertown avenue yesterday. officials have bucks county have not shared the details on the extent of the damage. 30 deaths are blamed on the paralyzing east coast blizzard of a mother and son died from carbon monoxide poisoning in pasaic new jersey. neighbors say he put his family in the car to keep warm when he dug out saturday night. the tail pipe was covered and carbon monoxide filled the car.

more than 160 penndot trucks were out treating the roads against the refreeze. black ice can be a problem if you have poor drainage areas. the snow will act as a dam and prevent the melt that happened during the day from getting down the drain and out of here. refreeze in some areas and next thing you know any of the salt there is diluted. that's why you have to go out and treat and retreat the road
surfaces. new york mayor is asking people to leave their plowed in cars where they are for the rest of the week. the metropolitan transportation authority said almost all transit services will be running in time for the morning rush that includes nearly 80% of the long island railroad. its yard sustained significant damage in the store. the aftermath of the blizzard is affecting mass transit here this morning, we're live at the septa station with an update on your morning commute. businesses are breaking down the economic impact from the storm. live report from the nasdaq is next.
