all members of the academy who are eligible are invited to vote their nominations for best picture. in most other categories, the nominations are decided by a vote of the members working in that specific category. then the entire membership chooses from those nominations the recipients of the oscars. and finally, the results of all the secret voting are known only to the independent accounting firm of pricewaterhousecoopers until the sealed envelopes are opened on the air.

"action news" reporter jeff chirico is live at children's hospital with the full story, jeff. >> reporter: walter, one victim is in critical condition at chop, other is in stable condition. police have gotten a big break in this case thanks to the surveillance cameras on a nearby business that caught images of what a appears to be the shooter's car. the victims were standing outside a chinese restaurant likely waiting for their food from another angle you see a white or silver cara approach corner and someone inside opens fire. the it happened around 5:45 p.m. at 31st and tasker, chalk marks where bullet casings landed feet from this woman's home. >> i was in the kitchen cooking. i heard noise, pop, pop, pop. i didn't see nothing. i just went back in. >> reporter: surveillance video shows moment teens were struck, when one immediately lunges in the restaurant while other takes off down the street. at the top of the screen you can see other running for safety. is it common to hear gunshots
around here. >> not really. to me when i get in this house i don't hear anything. >> reporter: it has been a violent year so far in grays ferry n january a man was critically injured after being shot in the 1200 block of south ringgold. earlier this month two shooting victims were transported when this police car crash, a few days later a cabdriver was shot just three blocks from this weekend's incident, police are looking for this light colored car with what appears to be i dark hood, five years old was hit the in the abdomen and foot, the 17 year-old in the arm and leg, two of the the latest victims of gun violence a concern that is never far from this minister's mine. >> i pray for all of them all the time. i am a minister. so i pray. a a lot. >> reporter: police have not released any information about a possible motive or possible suspects. the coincidently mayor kenney is scheduled to visit grays ferry, later today, for an anti gun violence meeting. we're live at the university city, jeff chirico for channel
six "action news". >> thanks, jeff. we have a developing story out of delaware tonight where a man was killed during a hit and run. it was 9:30 when police say a man was walking on lancaster pike on memorial drive when a vehicle struck him and took off. man was declared dead at the scene. lancaster pike is shut down in both directions as police try to piece together exactly what happened no word on a description of the vehicle involved or the man's identity. you just saw it right here on six abc hollywood's biggest nice oscars brought out all of the stars for the awards and for the red carpet. of course, glamour wasn't limited to los angeles there was plenty right here in philadelphia tonight.
