4:30 a.m., on this thursday, march 17. we're following a developing story. the search is on for two suspects who led police on a chase through philadelphia overnight. crews cleaned up a mangle wreck of a nasty crash at a i-95 toll plaza in delaware. supreme court nominee will meet with democrats, republicans are refusing to consider him, but are they hedging their bets. happy st. patrick's day. >> reporter: i am not wearing green despite my murphy name, i

spotty pop-up shower rolling through, so if you're in the city or elsewhere celebrating you night run into that. karen rogers we'll cool down, i'll have the details in the seven day. >> reporter: i'm looking at the shot of 309. there's more fog than yesterday at the turnpike. traffic moving okay. you're traveling in and out of the fog this morning. same situation on 42. it's not bad in this camera. driving you up from new jersey, it's town by town, you want to take down the speeds. low beams not the high beams. 42 is moving okay. northbound at cottman, you can see penndot has the arrow board out it will be closed until 5:00 a.m. fortunately, in this area we don't have low visibility. we have construction crews and pedestrians with reduced
visibility that could be an issue, matt. philadelphia police are searching for two people that led to a pursuit overnight and a tragedy for an officer. annie mccormick is live where the pursuit ended. >> reporter: that's right, officer was able to dodge a van that was coming at him. after he did that, he able to radio in a description of the van. police caught up with it in this south philadelphia neighborhood, but at this hour, the suspects are on the loose. this is the van that police are talking about. they say it came on the ray a the the -- radars, that fit the description of a robbery. police say the suspects drove off heading over the passyunk
bridge. they stopped the van and one possibly two fled. the foot pursuit ended after police lost the two around this neighborhood. the police officer who was able to dodge the van we are told was not injured, though police are looking for the suspects, fuf -- if you have any information, please contact them. annie mccormick channel 6 "action news." new overnight a house fire damaged a home in west mount airy section. firefighters found the heavy smoke and flames filling the home. crews get the fire under control. there were no reports of injuries. all toll lanes are open after a nasty wreck on i-95. a pile of mangled metal and shattered glass littered the toll plaza overnight. seven people were hurt when a cadillac plowed into an suv.
rescuers had to use the jaws of life to pull a woman from the vek e -- vehicle. a teenager is recovering after being stabbed on a bus in delaware county. the bus was making a stop at baltimore pike and church road in springfield township. the 67-year-old rushed from the back of the bus and stabbed the 18-year-old twice in the neck. they were not sitting in the same section of the bus. the witnesses were shocked at what they saw. they didn't believe they just witnessed that. after the stabbing, the actor just sat back down on the bus and waited. there was a widener university security office be on the bus who kept the 67-year-old there until police arrived. investigators believe he suffers from mental illness. a 17-year-old boy is in
custody for the shooting of a man in the holmesburg section of philadelphia. the man was shot in the head while driving a car. this happened around 9:00 p.m. police say the victim crashed into parked cars. he is in critical condition. witnesses saw the 17-year-old suspect run into a home and that's where police captured him. pennsylvania lawmakers moved one step closer to legalizing medical marijuana. the house voted 149 to 43 that would set standard for dispensaries, growers and doctors. the legislation goes to the state senate. happening today, president obama's supreme court nominee plans to visit democratic senators on capitol hill.
republicans continue, though, refuse to consider garland at least for now, but that could be changing. kenneth moten reports from washington. >> reporter: this morning, supreme court nominee him or mek garland will meet face-to-face with democratic lawmakers. the rose garden moment emotional for the 63-year-old husband and father. this is the greatest honor of my life. >> reporter: the harvard educated chicago native has dedicated his life to the law. a top prosecutor in the oklahoma city bombing. he is known is a moderate and
compromise in a controversial year. the top republican is holding his grounds. the next president should pick the next justice. mitch mcconnell did take a call from garland reiterating his feelings and wishing him well. all other respects falling in line. we found 6 republican senators who are open to meeting with garland. that includes orrin hatch. i didn't say he belonged on the supreme court, i said he belonged on the district court. >> reporter: there are no signs any of these meetings will lead to confirmation hearings. march madness kicks in today, massive crowd at villanova watched as the wildcats left. it is their 4th tournament

about, programs in the city or elsewhere. in philadelphia, 44 degrees, chilly. if you're heading downtown look for a temperatures around 60. it's nice this afternoon with a high of 64, and 65-degree reading at 3:00 p.m. at 5:00 p.m. we're back down to 60 and 53 by 8:00. a mix of sun and clouds, the later wetting in the afternoon we have a chance of spotty showers and rumble of thunder. these are not going to be the complete order of the day, but it's a possibility after 4:00 p.m. high temperatures from north to south are looking good today, though. 63 degrees in allentown. 64 in reading, 64 in trenton. 66 in wilmington. 63 down in cape may, new jersey. and then tomorrow we get a frontal boundary that's coming through and things start to change. the high tomorrow, 58 we'll see wind in the picture and again there could be a spotty shower. behind the frontal boundary for the weekend even cooler air comes in, it looks like it could

meteorologists forecast et cetera et cetera. sunday could be interesting. those clouds -- this crash caught on a dash cam has saying which driver is wrong. the suv loses control and spins out and crashes in the median. police say it's not safe to tap your brakes in that situation. when it's safe move over and slow down allow the vehicle to pass. the driver of the suv was cited in the crash. police are trying to track down the driver who did the brake check and drove off. that driver could face reckless driving charges. two people are in custody after a wild police chase. a suspected car thief sped through redlights and stop signs and jumping out of the shopping
mall. officers tackled him and took him away in handcuffs. a female passenger stayed behind in the vehicle after the chase, she was taken into custody. a chicago white sox player is walking away from $13 million because of a feud with team management. first baseman adam laroche said he will retire with a year left on his contract. at the center of the controversy is his son drake. management requested that he cut the visitors in half. he would not. tell us if you think there's a right time and wrong time to bring your child to work. is the clubhouse the right place the adult language? that's what management would say. your commute on the pennsylvania turnpike may be getting shorter after certain
