4:30 a.m., monday, august 29. tam is off, erin o'hern joins us. >> we're following breaking news, bullets fly during a shootout overnight hitting three teenagers. now police are trying to figure out if the teens are innocent victims. >> tragedy strikes when a child darts out into a west philadelphia street. >> video shows a new jersey officer working to save a man on the train tracks as the train approaches. >> more children going back to school, david and karen.

>> reporter: it looks like it will be a decent morning, but sticky in some neighborhoods. we have showers to the west of us falling a part, this morning there are a few clouds around, but it will be a bright day overall. 73 in philadelphia. 71 in wilmington, 70 in trenton. 69 in cape may. the dewpoints up in the mid to upper 60s in some spots, philadelphia is one of the more humid locations with the number at 69. nobody in the 70-degree range, but it's a tad more humid than over the weekend. 72 degrees for you folks heading to the bus stop or getting your early morning run. a little humid in spots. 81 degrees by 10:00 a.m. it's going to be hot and humid this afternoon with moderate humidity, high today of 92 degrees we'll probably hit that around 3:00 p.m. in case you've not been paying attention over the weekend, the tropics are popping up. there's a tropical storm that could be near us over the next

couple of days. we'll talk about that in the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. karen what you got? >> reporter: we have problems already, we're live on the scene, roosevelt boulevard southbound at ridge avenue, you can see how the right lane is blocked, look at the water that's coming down from the overpass. we have a water main break that's causing problem. the right lane is blocked. the entire road is wet. the right lane is blocked. the other lane is soaked with water that's pouring out over the overpass. boulevard southbound at ridge avenue. they have to shut off the water and then you'll deal with that. vine street expressway, no overnight construction, the vine is clear, westbound traffic heading toward the schuylkill expressway, very nice and dry, a few cars moving through. construction crews will be out here tonight at 11:00 p.m. shutting down the vine, but for now there's no problems. we have an issue from yesterday.

this is the 30 bypass, westbound at business route 30. i know from the vantage point you can see the flashing lights. it was an overturned tanker from yesterday at 2:00 p.m. they are blocking a lane on the 30 bypass westbound at business route 30 from a problem yesterday that's take a long time to clear up, matt and erin. >> a shootout erupted on the streets in the city's grays ferry section, three teens were rushed to the hospital. police are trying to figure out who is to blame. annie mccormick has more on the investigation. >> reporter: that's right, three teens were shot overnight, the good news they are in stable condition and expected to be okay. at this hour police are trying to figure out whether or not they were the intended targets or hit by stray gunfire. take a look at the video this is video shortly after police

arrived from the scene it was around midnight at 27th and cast in grays ferry. 2, 16-year-olds were shot and a 17-year-old. one was shot in the thigh and one in the thigh and another in the back. ment detectives do not have a motive at this time. this is what an inspector had to say. >> we know at least 12 shots were fired from a semi automatic weapon or weapons. we found 12 spent shell casings, where we found them there were two separate groups. there was a shootout between two people or groups of people. we also found three vehicles struck by gunfire, another indication that the shooters were firing in opposite directions. >> reporter: and police say that on that block they are going to

come back and look at surveillance cameras that are in the area and real time cameras that the city operates. now, two teens were taken to the presbyterian hospital and another to children's hospital. we are told all are in stable condition. reporting live outside of south detectives in south philadelphia. annie mccormick channel 6 "action news." back to you. >> thank you, annie. reports of a gunman opening fire at los angeles international airport turned out to be a false alarm. the incident sent hundreds of travelers running outside and flights going in and out of the airport on major delays. police say they found no gunman and no shots fired only reports of loud noises, police have not revealed the source of the loud noises. >> an suv struck and killed a toddler who darted out into the middle of the street. police say appears to be a

tragic accident, but neighbors say the road is dangerous. katherine scott is live with more. >> reporter: the circumstances of last night's accident remain under investigation. neighbors say it's common for drivers to use that neighborhood street as a shortcut. this little boy would have turned two next month. last night he was pronounced dead at the hospital. >> family members say little ameen was a month shy of his second birthday. he was visiting a family and playing with cousins. police say he ran out into the streets from in between parked cars and struck by the white chevy trail blazer. >> she started screaming and jumping, she was really shaken. >> when i got outside, i saw my little cousin under the left

back wheel. >> reporter: the accident remains under investigation, neighbors say the road is a popular shortcut for drivers, they say speeding is common and children have paid the price. surveillance video shows a 9-year-old getting hit by a speeding car in 2012. that girl walked away, the driver took off and that's not all. >> we had a child he got hit so badly, he broke both his legs, flipped up in the air. this is constant. >> and whether the driver last night was speeding, police have not said, police say it's too early to know if any charges will be filed. she is cooperating with authorities. we're live in north philadelphia. katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. authorities say a struggle over a gun led an off-duty police officer to kill a man in trenton. people gathered for a party on roosevelt street saturday night after a funeral. two brothers began fighting over a gun.

the off duty officer stepped in and drew his own gun and took the other weapon. that's when 34-year-old try to grab one of the weapons the officer was holding, the officer shot him in the chest. he died at the hospital. a walk home from work was interrupted for a south philadelphia woman who she was groped saturday night. police are trying to find out if this incident is connected to other assaults in the city. last week police released surveillance video of a man on a bike accused of assaulting another woman. >> any type of crime you want to keep your eyes opening and in the evening try to walk in pairs. >> reporter: the suspect is described as a hispanic man in his 20s with a stocky build and wearing a black and orange

backpack. donald trump's campaign will begin airing ads in nine states including pennsylvania. it spent $10 million on commercial which is the campaign's biggest ad by so far. he plans to make a major speech on illegal immigration on wednesday in arizona. trump has shown signs he might be softening his hard line promise to deport 11 million immigrants. hillary clinton greeted supporters in the hamptons. abc news has obtained new e-mails that raise more concerns that the clinton foundation asked forcial treatment while she was secretary of state. >> a new jersey officer is

risk of rip currents because of hurricane gaston way out in the atlantic. onshore flow is creating rough surf and rip currents. rip current chance is moderate in republican republican and bethany beach. speaking of the tropics a lot going on out there, there's gaston, a category 3 by the way. tropical depression number 9 down by cuba we were watching last week. tropical depression number 8 is barreling toward north carolina. right now it's a tropical depression, looks like it will become a tropical storm. you can see the change in the icon. looks like it will come into the carolinas around cape hatteras and zoom off the coast and miss us. most models take it out to sea and it is not an issue for us.
