reports of a possible threat at the school. roanoke county police say the school received an anonymous phone call wednesday afternoon. meanwhile -- a spokesman for roanoke county schools says staff became aware of the threats through social media posts this morning. police say the school resource officer investigated... and couldn't verify a threat. parents have commented they were keeping their students home sick. the school system says student absences will be treated as they would any other day. there will be a community meeting monday night at for people to voice their concerns. interstate 81 is still backed up in wythe county... after a tractor trailer accident early this morning. hazmat crews are cleaning up diesel fuel and paint... on the northbound side of 81.. at mile marker 86. crews report multiple vehicles were involved in the accident. it happened just before two this morning. the north left shoulder and left

backups are about six miles right now. you're asked to avoid the area. # a man is behind bars... following a car chase in amherst county. deputies say 53- year-old "lawrence crank" from lynchburg sped away from deputies after trespassing at riveredge park in madison heights tuesday. after an 8-mile chase ... deputies say crank got out of his car ... and ran off. he was arrested a short time after. crank faces several charges... including possession of meth with intent to distribute ... felony eluding ...and trespassing . # today the defense calls witnesses for the first time in a federal trial... stemming from the murder of waynesboro police reserve captain--- kevin quick. prosecutors rested their case... after twelve days of presenting evidence... against six alleged gang members ... four of which are charged with murder. wednesday was all about the cell phone evidence the prosecution says first led police to quick's body. the prosecution points to a gang killing... claiming all of the suspects are members of the

the military is struggling to provide care for soldiers with post traumatic stress disorder--- or p- t-s-d. that's according to a new study by rand corp. after reviewing 40 thousand cases ... the group found many veterans with p-t-s-d and depression are not getting the minimum number of therapy sessions needed. according to military guidelines ... they should get four... within eight weeks... or at least two to manage new medications. military officials blame this on lack of mental health professionals... and will turn to civilian therapists... available through pentagon contracts. # president obama is heading to cuba. the president aims to restore ties with the nation... as well as help its citizens. he will be the first sitting president to visit cuba in more than half a century. white house officials say the commander in chief will discuss human rights... and political freedoms with cuban president raul castro. president obama will visit the nation in march. #

as the republican presidential candidates gear up for this primary. that primary is only two days to shake up in the g-o-p. according to an n-b-c news wall street journal poll ... ted cruz is leading the party for the first time ... beating trump by two points. meanwhile -- marco rubio picks up a key endorsement from south carolina's governor nikki haley. marco rubio / r presidential candidate - "in my campaign for president today, i got the endorsement of a governor of indian decent, who endorsed a presidential candidate of cuban decent, and tomorrow will be campaigning alongside an african american republican senator, all three are doing that here inside south carolina. that says a lot about the republican party. " on the other side of the spectrum ... democrats hillary clinton and bernie sanders face off in the nevada primary this weekend. # you'll start to see hillary clinton ads on television starting today. hillary clinton's campaign launched the advertising campaign in virginia ahead of the march 1 primary. the campaign says the 30- second spots highlight clinton's record on foreign

clinton is running against senator bernie sanders for the democratic nomination. she enjoys a lead in virginia polls... and has the support of both the state's u.s. senators and governor terry mcauliffe.### new at noon ... senator mark warner just wrapped up a round table discussion with lynchburg community leaders... at central virginia community college. he talked about building a work force in southwest and central virginia... geared towards cyber jobs. he says currently there are 18-thousand open cyber jobs in virginia.... and local colleges and universities should refocus students toward earning a degree in cyber related fields. he also says local virginia the unmanned systems industry... like drones and driverless vehicles. # a measure to reduce emphasis on standardized testing in schools... advances through the general assembly. the legislation requires the state board of education to stress critical thinking over was approved by a

unianimously passed the senate. the bill also directs state leaders to emphasize internships and technical training... which is something multiple lawmakers have pushed for.### some central virginia groups are rallying against the atlantic coast pipeline... after new developments. energy companies behind the pipeline came up with a new route... but these groups say it's still not good enough. the new path reduces the impact to national forests by one third... but affects 249 new land owners. the piedmont group of the sierra club wants to see renewable energy built... instead of gas pipelines. joe lovett, executive director of appalachian mountain advocates: 15:56:38 "we should be making a transition from coal to renewables not from coal to natural gas" a dominion spokesperson says the company is investing in renewable energy too. but the company says renewable energy alone cannot produce enough energy around the clock... to make up for all the coal-fired power stations closing.### thousands are still left without

break from their studies to build a giant igloo. take a look at this ... students at new york's university of rochester spent the day creating the massive structure. they even stayed there overnight. the igloo is ten feet high... and twelve feet wide. the students even made sure to include a hole at the top to vent out excess body heat and keep the structure from melting too early. # still ahead -- out with the old in with the new ... why you may want to ditch your credit card and get a new one...

drivers beware ... toyota is recalling more than one million cars due to seat belt problems. the recall involves rav-4 s- u-v's from 2005 through 2014. toyota says seat belts in both

come in contact with a metal seat cushion frame during a frontal crash ... cutting the belts and no longer restraining the passenger. the company says it will add plastic covers to the seat cushion frame for free. ford is taking an approach toward preventing pothole damage. the company is using pothole protection technology on its 2017 fusion v- six sport sedan. ford says the shock absorber system automatically stiffens when sensors detect a pothole ... keeping the wheel elevated instead of dropping into the hole. the company says the fusion is its first mid sized car in its price range to offer the feature. if you've been using the same credit card for years ... you may be missing out on big rewards and bonuses. a new study by credit cards dot com finds 25 million cardholders have not changed their go to credit card in at least 10 years. another 20 million have never changed it. card issuers continue to add
