reports of a possible threat at the school. roanoke county police say the school received an anonymous phone call wednesday afternoon. meanwhile -- a spokesman for roanoke county schools says staff became aware of the threats through social media posts this morning. police say the school resource officer investigated... and couldn't verify a threat. parents have commented they were keeping their students home sick. the school system says student absences will be treated as they would any other day. there will be a community meeting monday night at for people to voice their concerns. interstate 81 is still backed up in wythe county... after a tractor trailer accident early this morning. hazmat crews are cleaning up diesel fuel and paint... on the northbound side of 81.. at mile marker 86. crews report multiple vehicles were involved in the accident. it happened just before two this morning. the north left shoulder and left
backups are about six miles right now. you're asked to avoid the area. # a man is behind bars... following a car chase in amherst county. deputies say 53- year-old "lawrence crank" from lynchburg sped away from deputies after trespassing at riveredge park in madison heights tuesday. after an 8-mile chase ... deputies say crank got out of his car ... and ran off. he was arrested a short time after. crank faces several charges... including possession of meth with intent to distribute ... felony eluding ...and trespassing . # today the defense calls witnesses for the first time in a federal trial... stemming from the murder of waynesboro police reserve captain--- kevin quick. prosecutors rested their case... after twelve days of presenting evidence... against six alleged gang members ... four of which are charged with murder. wednesday was all about the cell phone evidence the prosecution says first led police to quick's body. the prosecution points to a gang killing... claiming all of the suspects are members of the
the military is struggling to provide care for soldiers with post traumatic stress disorder--- or p- t-s-d. that's according to a new study by rand corp. after reviewing 40 thousand cases ... the group found many veterans with p-t-s-d and depression are not getting the minimum number of therapy sessions needed. according to military guidelines ... they should get four... within eight weeks... or at least two to manage new medications. military officials blame this on lack of mental health professionals... and will turn to civilian therapists... available through pentagon contracts. # president obama is heading to cuba. the president aims to restore ties with the nation... as well as help its citizens. he will be the first sitting president to visit cuba in more than half a century. white house officials say the commander in chief will discuss human rights... and political freedoms with cuban president raul castro. president obama will visit the nation in march. #

unianimously passed the senate. the bill also directs state leaders to emphasize internships and technical training... which is something multiple lawmakers have pushed for.### some central virginia groups are rallying against the atlantic coast pipeline... after new developments. energy companies behind the pipeline came up with a new route... but these groups say it's still not good enough. the new path reduces the impact to national forests by one third... but affects 249 new land owners. the piedmont group of the sierra club wants to see renewable energy built... instead of gas pipelines. joe lovett, executive director of appalachian mountain advocates: 15:56:38 "we should be making a transition from coal to renewables not from coal to natural gas" a dominion spokesperson says the company is investing in renewable energy too. but the company says renewable energy alone cannot produce enough energy around the clock... to make up for all the coal-fired power stations closing.### thousands are still left without
