we are seeing relatively comfortable temperatures out there. temperatures in the 50s. rapidly seeing numbers rebounding into the 60s by 10:00. 50 degrees in tampa. dew points are coming back up. we'll be tracking thunderstorm chances tonight. more on the timing in your full forecast. hot spots at 6:00 on your monday morning. good morning pinellas county. all eastbound lanes of ulmerton road are closed after a serious accident at carol parkway. if you are heading in that direction take roosevelt boulevard. someone was killed in a serious accident on howard frankland bridge north into tampa. coming up in less than ten minutes i'll have drive times for you. good monday morning.

i'm allison kropff. >>i'm ian reitz. as hilary zalla mentioned we are on the scene of two deadly crashes. several lanes are closed in clearwater after a cash crashed into a pole and a hit-and-run accident on the howard frankland bridge is causing backups. >> reporter: it could be several hours before they reopen the lanes. right now you can see traffic still whizzing by. they are waiting for the medical examiner to get on scene. a tow truck driver was simply killed doing his job this morning. trooper tell me the tow truck driver was hook up a disabled suv on the side of the howard frankland bridge when a black, 2014 volkswagon jetta hit and killed that tow truck driver then spedoff from the scene. troopers are still looking for that driver now and the black

damage to the right front end side of the vehicle. fhp's hit-and-run campaign is kicking off today urging drivers to never leave the crash because investigators can and will find you. driver. they know he is out there. they don't know why that person left the scene. whatever they did now they left a man dead on the howard frankland bridge. live in tampa 10 news wtsp. we are on top of a deadly crash on ulmerton road where a car crashed into the pole. >> reporter: this is a pickup truck that slammed into a pole on ulmerton. this was a serious accident. the driver, we are told is

that's driver was taken out of the vehicle 30 minutes ago and is now transported to the hospital. we know this truck wrapped around a pole at 3:30. we are trying to find out how did this happen and once we find these details we'll report that. serious accident. drivers still alive. investigators are out here still figuring out what is going on. they are taking pictures canvassing the scene. once we have more details we'll bring that information to you. darren flowers 10 news wtsp. major debate in our nation's capitol now. just days after the death of u.s. supreme court justice antonin scalia both parties are at odds with the president over who he should nominate to

husband, 50-year-old mark smith a knife. deputies told the man to drop the knife but he charged forward and was shot and killed. crews in virginia are leading up and spreading a salt mix on roads and highways as drivers prepare for a snow storm today and tomorrow. the roads in central virginia were covered in packed snow. they are not expecting to get as much snow as the last storm. crews have been treating the roads since friday. sleet and ice are creating slick conditions for drivers in tennessee. tow trucks pulled dozens of cars from ditches and accidents caused major backups along the interstate. drivers are taking it slow but that doesn't always help. >> hit some ice and started sliding and started spinning around. and ran until we hit the guardrail. not only is it me, it is five or six more cars up there all pulled over to the side from

models on three different covers. let's head over to road warrior hilary zalla. >> we heard from fhp on ulmerton road this is a possible fatality accident. we do know the person is still alive. if you are heading this way eastbound lanes are still closed at carol lawn parkway. your best bet is roosevelt boulevard as a detour. i'll let you know when they are able to open up a lane. our big story the howard frankland bridge a fatal accident blocking a lane going north into tampa before kennedy boulevard. i wanted to show you this camera. you can see traffic is backed up to the hump going north across the howard frankland bridge. you are only get big in the two left lanes approaching the end of the bridge. this will cause a headache for you if you are heading across

your best bet is to take the gandy bridge. just remember everyone else will be doing that. make sure you leave early. drive times in hillsborough county our majors aren't looking bad at all so far. i-4 going west into tampa between i-75 and i-275 you can see your drive time is nine minutes. i-275 from the apex down to i- 4, anyone coming from wesley chapel, pasco county into tampa, your drive time is 15 minutes there. i'm also on top of an accident in manatee county in bradenton. this one is on cortez road at 20th street. injuries are reported. you have police as well as e.m.s. on scene. it looks like a couple lanes are blocked at the intersection. so far you can see you are in the green. polk county drive times look great. lakeland on i-4 eastbound through westbound between polk parkway east and west is taking you 13 minutes. if you have any problems on the roads send me an e-mail. i'm your road warrior. i'll look into any traffic

if you see a safety issue i'll get you answered. my e-mail is we are off to a nice start for your monday. a lot of cloud cover. we are doing okay this morning as far as visibility. we are not seeing any thick fog. it has warmed up our temperatures or rather kept them from cooling off overnight having a blanketing effect. we have a lot of 50s and 60s. 58 sarasota. 59 bartow. looking quiet over the performing arts center in sarasota. we have a good amount of cloud cover and moisture out there. it is not at the surface. that is not going to be impacting your morning commute this morning. what we will see later today, first up the cloud cover. that will stick with us. with that we'll manage to see temperatures well into the 70s this afternoon. we get heat and humidity and we'll start getting showers

by around 4:00 a couple spray sprinkles here and there. we could see heavier pockets closer to dinner time. notice how this largely remains east of i-75 for folks in polk and highland county. then we look for our next round of overnight rain. that looks to work through the nature coast around 2:00 a.m. it will mainly be an overnight event moving in the bay area around 4:00. starting to see heavy rain even some thunderstorms embedded along this line. we are not forecasting wide- spread severe storms. but one or two of these could pulse up. we'll keep a close eye on it. notice how quickly it will move through. by 6:00 parts of pinellas county starting to clear out. this will be an early, early morning event tomorrow. then we'll rapidly clear out for the afternoon. today we are ahead of it. we stay cloudy and warm. temperatures in the mid to upper 70s today. not a bad day to get to the state fair.

take the gandy bridge if you can. that will save you some time. around central florida we are looking largely quiet. we'll see a lot of cloud cover. isolated showers possible this afternoon. main rain revent will be overnight tonight. it may wake you up early tomorrow morning. looking ahead, folks in austin, texas will make two big decisions for ridesharing services. voters will decide if uber and lyft drivers will be fingerprinting. measures will better protection riders. opponents don't think they are necessary for the services. nordstrom will accept returns from nordstrom rack. this allows you to return items at the high end stores or discount outlet. the store is encouraging you to

pole on ulmerton road in clearwater. >> 10 news reporter darren flowers is live on ulmerton road near carol lawn parkway. what does it look like now? >> reporter: the scene is still very much active. you can see fhp patrol cars are out here. police vehicles are out here. i think cars are blocking the scene. just behind this truck you can see here is the mangled truck between a pole. it is a bad accident. but the good news is we are told the driver was taken to the hospital alive and in critical condition. we'll make sure to get a follow up on his condition and update everyone on how that is going. this crash is on ulmerton road and carol lawn parkway. there are two lanes opened. cars are trying to avoid the one closest to the police cars. really, just one lane of traffic is moving. now we are seeing people waking up in their cars driving by the scene. there is not a lot of traffic that's causing a delay. as more and more cars come out

they are still investigating this crash. one person taken to the hospital. the truck is mangled between this pole. we'll find out that condition of the driver and we'll bring you more information about how this happened once we get it. live in pinellas county darren flowers 10 news wtsp. we are staying on top of the hit-and-run on the howard frankland bridge. 10 news reporter sarah hollenbeck is live along the bridge. what do police know about the suspect? >> reporter: troopers are looking for that person right now. we know they were in a black 2014 volkswagon jetta or eos. it will have a lot of damage to the front end of the vehicle on the right side. they need your help looking for that person. they just brought in a fire truck. they are trying to clean up the debris. i'm told it could take another

northbound lanes of the howard frankland bridge. they have one lane closed now. there is only two lanes of traffic moving but. a tow truck driver was simply killed doing his job this morning. we are told he was trying to get a disabled suv out of the way of traffic. troopers tell know the driver in the black volkswagon sped off. this year there were 92,000 hit- and-run crashes in 2015. 186 people killed. troopers on the scene tell me this is maddening. fhp was supposed to kick off their hit-and-run campaign today. it could be another hour before they open up this area. i'm told they are still trying to get in touch with the tow truck driver's family now. live on the howard frankland bridge sarah hollenbeck 10 news wtsp. more breaking news in tampa to tell you about. deputies are rating a home invasion on manor driver on waters avenue.

that man is in the hospital. no word if deputies are still searching for suspects. we are one month away from the florida primaries march 15th. time is running out if you want to be able to vote in the primaries. application is online if you want to vote in your party's website. if you register as a republican or democrat you can only vote for your party's canidates. high turnout is expected from all over the state. today the first stage of tampa international airport's multimillion expansion project is complete. this morning the airport is set to unvail a new concession area. the airport is working to decongest the curb side and roads. they are adding a large car rental center near the entrance of the airport. today, a new concession center will open. that means the next time you have to catch a flight there

this morning republicans and democrats are at odds with who president obama should nominate to replace supreme court justice antonin scalia. he was known for his conservative issues. the supreme court is even between conservatives and liberals. scalia passed away over the weekend from natural causes at a texas ranch. a week after winning the superbowl with the denver broncos peyton manning is back in the headlines for a sexual harassment lawsuit from his days back at the university of tennessee. that lawsuit filed last week by six unidentified women said the university violated title nine regulations over reports of sexual assault by student athletes. it involved manning and a female trainer. that trainer sued manning twice. both lawsuits were settled.

surveillance video you are about to see shows the moment leading up to the shooting saturday night. two robbed a convenience store. when couch stopped the men to question them one pulled out a gun and fired a shot. >> it is grainy and long distance but it is obvious what happened. >> police of one of the father of the men saw the surveillance video and called police and turned his son in on sunday. crews are working to find out what started a massive fire in brooklyn, new york. the fire department says it took 140 firefighters to get control of this fire. that happened few hours ago. crews say that fire was burning on all three floors of the home. right now no injuries have been reported. developing from st. petersburg this morning, police are trying to figure out how an unregistered gun got in the hands of a 4-year-old child who fired a hot. the boy was playing outside on

under the house. hidden in a crawl space the boy found a revolver. he took it on the porch and fired one round into the ground. police in bradenton are looking for the people responsible for shooting two wild animals. we want to warn you some of these images are difficult to look at. wild life officials responded to a call about a duck swimming in the water with an arrow sticking out of it. they got another call about a raccoon that was also shot with the arrow. if you know anyone involved in the shooting call police. the tram in new hampshire got stuck 40 feet above the ground in subzero temperatures.

it is taking you 25 minutes to cross the howard frankland bridge. look at this shot from sky 10. traffic is backed up the entire length of the bridge because of that fatal accident that is still blocking a lane here. you can see two right lanes are blocked. only the left lanes are getting by. huge delays this morning. make sure you give yourself some time. gandy bridge is your best alternate. it is still quiet. this is east of the bridge coming into tampa. drive time across the bay is six minutes. it is your best option. i'll keep you updated with traffic every ten minutes. allergy levels are on the high side.

the week as temperatures warm up and we see drier air headed back in the forecast. police are looking for a black volkswagon with front end damage on the right-hand side side. a tuck troy driver was hit and killed while hooking up an suv on the side of the road. the death of supreme court justice antonin scalia is sending shock waves to the nation's capitol. >> conservatives are demanding president obama do not replace him in the upcoming year. the case up next for the court include abortion rights

looking for love in all the wrong places. while monkey was captured in pasco county in a neighborhood on sunday. he was captured after being hit with a tranquilizer dart. valentine is likely the close cousin of the monkey kicked in 2012. >> if he was in asia where he belongs he would have joined up

when they are kicked out here he has nowhere to go to. >> experts believe he roamed from silver springs where monkeys resumed from the filming of a tarzan movie years ago. we have a lot of accidents this morning. it keeps getting busier. i'm hearing of an accident on u.s. 301 in river view that shut down northbound lanes south of sims road. detour would be i-75. that is to the west of u.s. 301. i'm hearing serious injuries reported. in pinellas county a man is in critical condition after running into a pole on the side of the road.

you have a lane blocked. only two lanes getting by. you are seeing quite the delay going east. your bet best roosevelt boulevard. you can hook up with i-275 from there if you are trying to get on i-275 either north or south. live to the howard frankland bridge. this is a fatal accident. this is still getting cleaned up in the two right lanes. only the two left lanes getting by. you need to slow down passing this. traffic is so backed up. it is taking you 25 minutes to cross the howard frankland bridge into tampa. traffic really almost backed up into pinellas county. the a mess out there. if you are trying to cross today your best bet would be the gandy bridge or the courtney campbell causeway. you can see how bad this backup is. i would take the gandy bridge. that one isn't looking terrible yet. your drive time is seven minutes across. back to our maps i want to take you to bradenton in manatee

i'm on top of an accident on cortez road at 20th street. injuries reported here. we have e.m.s. and police on scene. you have lanes blocked at the intersection. starting to see some delays there. leave early if you can. we are off to a warm start this morning. 60 tampa. 60 st. pete. we are checking in at 53 degrees in new port richey. still seeing cloud cover continue to move in. our winds are strong enough where we are not dealing with that working to the surface. we are not seeing problems in terms of your visibility not dealing with fog this morning. overnight we'll be seeing big changes. overall it is a nice start to our day. we have a lot of cloud cover out there. that is not going to break up all that much. there will be times we get some blue skies in here. there will be more clouds and sunshine through the day.

as we head into the afternoon still warming things up. even with a lot of cloud cover we'll see southeast winds that will continue to pull in that warm and relatively moist air. as we head into 3:00 we'll see a few showers well east of i- 75. everything should be light until we get to around dinner time. that's where we get heavy downpours and a few rumbles of thunder pulsing up here and there. that is not the main stage in terms of our rain chances coming up over the next 24- hours. that is going to be with our next frontal boundary. you can see 2:00 a.m. starting to work into the area we could start seeing heavy rain 3:00 a.m. coast. then moving in the bay area closer to 4:00. yes, notice there are heavy line. not forecasting severe weather.

it quickly moves out. by 7:00 a.m. and hillsborough. by 9:00 a.m. tomorrow i think we'll work everything out of here. we'll be up to 77 today. mostly cloudy. just a few stray showers east of i-75. most of us do stay dry. not a bad day heading to the florida state fair. this is the last day that you have that opportunity. 77 degrees. certainly not a bad number as we are in the middle of february. we expect things to be cooler. temperatures are above average today. we are tracking showers and thunderstorms moving through during the overnight hours and early tomorrow morning. after 9:00 we are over and done with it. stretch. still warm ahead of it. tomorrow morning we'll see numbers starting off where we are now. 60 degrees. it will be a good average for you. overnight. 30% of us early tomorrow

a medical helicopter is on stand by for a wreck on drew street. sky 10 network camera on i-4 at plant city you are seeing heavy delays from an accident west towards tampa. drive time from polk parkway to i-75 is 45 minutes. you might want to take u.s. 92. howard frankland bridge i just got word all lanes back open going north after a fatal accident. you have heavy, heavy residual delays after this crash. at least we are moving there. you may want to consider taking the gandy bridge. forecasting a lot of cloud cover for today. still managing to heat up into
