this morning. i'm allison kropff. and i'm ian reitz. a scary night as tornados tear through several southern states including florida. at least 3 people are dead and many more are hurt. 10 news reporter jennifer titus is in studio. jenn-- what a horrific 24 hours for so many people? absolutely--many people spent the day in their safe spots--bathtubs after reported tornadoes swept through louisiana, mississippi and florida yesterday

the damage left by these tornadoes. two people were killed and more than thirty others hurt after a reported tornado tore through an rv park in convent, louisiana.--that's about an hour west of new orleans. the storm flipped and mangled dozens of trailers and knocked down trees. at least 20 homes were also destroyed in the area. for jared cazanede---he's still having a hard time coming to terms with the reality of the damge these storms caused the storm continued to the panhandle, bringing heavy rain and causing damage to some buildings in pensacola. the storm system will continue to affect the east coast today and that has in florida closing school today--i'm putting that list together and will 5:30 for the republican frontrunner donald c-b-s news is projecting trump the

nevada. this will be his third win of the primary season. second place is still too close to call. entrance polls show that trump did well with republicans who selected immigration and the economy as the top issue. polls showed that florida senator marco rubio was the choice for late- deciders and people who said electability was important. texas senator ted cruz spent tuesday evening with caucus-goers and did well with people who said "values" were important. we are learning new details this morning about the death of supreme court justice antonin scalia. his doctor says scalia suffered from coronary artery disease, obesity and diabetes among some other issues. also a sheriff's incident report released late tuesday night shows nothing appeared out of place where the justice was found dead in his west texas resort suite. new this morning, rescuers have found the wreckage of a small plane that crashed after taking

tourist destination in nepal. all 23 people on board died in the crash. the plane was headed into a mountainous area, in bad weather, when it lost contact with airport controllers. we don't know yet what caused the crash, but police say the plane appeared to have flown directly into a mountain. two of the passengers were from china and kuwwait.. the rest were from nepal. relatives of the victims arrived at the airport early this morning.. while the search was going on. we've talked a lot recently about a bill to expand the use of medical marijuana in florida. that bill has stalled in the state senate. a proposal by senator rob bradley says anyone diagnosed with a terminal illness should be able to use full strength marijuana. on tuesday.. bradley says the state has to be ready to implement the medical marijuana proposition on the november ballot. but the legislation may have already run into a few roadblocks. an amendment that would speed up the process of the 'medical cannibus act' passed in 2014 is still being held up in court. right now.. florida only allows non-euphoric strains

happening this morning...people against fracking will meet outside of temple terrace city hall to voice their bill 318. the bill fast tracks fracking for oil and gas in the group "floridians against fracking" is hoping to get the attention of senator tom lee, so he votes no on the bill. you know every time there is construction on the roads here in tampa bay, it's a nightmare. you've likely sat in the traffic. well, it's about to expected to get worse. 10 news reporter sarah hollenbeck is live at gunn highway and linebaugh in carrollwood. sarah, 60- thousand drivers go through that intersection every single day and hillsborough county has a big fix coming to help with traffic and safety, but it's going to get worse before it gets better. yes, later this month they'll tear up this congested intersection to make improvements but that means 8 months of dodging traffic barricades, construction workers and even bigger delays for folks using linebaugh avenue or gunn highway to get

tonight-- people who drive through this intersection are urged to come and learn more at a public meeting. here's what they're doing to change this busy intersection: they'll add more turn lanes, lengthen some of the existing turn lanes, add big concrete traffic seperators, bike lanes and new 8-foot wide sidewalks for walkers. the $3.6 million project kicks off next week. coming up-- this is one of several big in the works around hillsborough county. i'm digging into where you can expect to see construction cones next. live in carrollwood, sarah hollenbeck, 10news wtsp forecasters say the cyclone that killed 42 people in fiji is making its way to australia's east coast....but they warn the track could change at any time. in fiji, four people are among those missing, including a 10-month-old infant. the cyclone tore through the island chain over the weekend. winds reached 177 miles per hour. right now...the c- d-c is investigating 14 zika cases in the u-s that could have been sexually

news back in the morning. here's a look at headlines around the nation and the world in your 60 second scan... we're learned that federal marshals have used powerful surveillance technology to track down nearly six- thousand suspects. phone tracking devices, known as stingrays, have been used for a long time. they are as large as suitcases and can pose as a cell phone tower to track pings from phones. this comes in the wake of the privacy debate between apple and the f-b-i. a pilot is in the hospital this morning after crashing his small plane in a neighborhood in palatka, just east of gainesville. the plane went down in the backyard of a home after it lost power. the pilot was flying from raleigh, north carolina to sarasota when he started having engine trouble and had to deploy an emergency parachute to help

migraines and headaches may share genetic links with irritable bowel syndrome or i-b-s. a new study by the american academy of neurology shows more than half of patients with migraines and over a quarter with tension headaches also had i-b-s. researchers say people with i-b-s and headaches had at least one gene that differed from healthy people. it's no secret that because we live here in florida, we have it pretty good. well, a new study is now proving that! healthways released a list of the healthiest and happiest cities in the u-s.. and two florida cities made the top three. naples ranks first on the list! the study says naples has the lowest levels of stress and depression and has the most people who eat healthy. salinas, california was second and the north port- sarasota-bradenton is third! fort collins, colorado and barnstable town, massachusetts round out the top five. the study looked into physical healh, social ties and
