vanessa ruffes, in for walter allen((jen)) and i'm jen epstein. let's start off with a check of the forecast, with dave. dave, we're under a dense fog 3 3 3 3
5:02 am
3 3 3 (vanessa) all eyes on iowa this morning... where we're still waiting for the *official results for the democrats, on the caucuses. (jen) all night long, it's been too close to call, between hillary clinton and bernie sanders. but this morning, the iowa state democratic party is calling it for hillary. 3 (jen sanders calls it "a virtual tie"... but clinton's spokesman told reporters: they "believe strongly" that they won. right now: hillary has at least 22-delegates to the party's national convention, compared to sanders' 21... and there's still one to be decided. but for clinton, there's really only one thing that matters. 3 (sot)"when it's all said and done, we have to be united against a republican vision and candidate that will drive us apart and divide us."(sot)"given the enormous crises facing our country, it is just too late for establishment politics, and

3 3 (vanessa) for the close too... especially between the top three... but the winner was clear-cut. iowa chose: ted cruz. 3 (vanessa cruz won 28- percent of the vote... compared to 24-percent for donald trump... and following closely behind: florida senator marco rubio. he finished just one-percent behind trump. some are now calling this a three-horse race for the republicans. that's because no one else even came close. ben carson placed fourth, with just nine-percent. so how did trump feel: as the runner-up this time? 3 (sot)"we finished second and i want to tell you something, i am just honored. i am really honored." 3 "the people of this great state event sent a very clear message. after 7 years of barack obama, we are not

country back." 3 3 (vanessa 3 and following last night's results... the competition has narrowed, just a little bit. at least one candidate has now ended their campaign, from each side. republican "mike huckabee" announced his run was over... and democrat "martin o'malley" also ended his campaign last made much of an impact in the 3 (vanessa fox-13 political editor craig patrick is *in iowa, tracking the candidates in both parties. we'll check in live with him, throughout the morning, starting at six. 3 (jen) everyone may be talking about iowa this morning, but the presidential election is actually already underway in *florida, too. 3 presidential primary, which will be held in march, are in

5:06 am
active investigation, anyone with information is asked to call the plant city police department. 3 also new this morning: tampa police are investigating a deadly crash. it happened on martin luther king boulevard just east of albany avenue north. the crash involved two cars and a motorcycle. the motorcyclist died at the scene. all lanes of martin luther king boulevard are shut down as police investigate. i'm keeping a close eye on the situation and will let you know when the road reopens. 3 3 (jen here's something you never want to see: the bomb squad showing up at your neighbor's house.. but what's *really unnerving, is what they found *inside the home on north lincoln avenue, near "al lopez park" in tampa. 3 (jen) "michael ramos" was reported to authorities by his former employer, who had been in ramos' home and saw the bombs. and fox-13's evan axelbank tells us: in the federal complaint, ramos says he never intended to hurt anyone, but he made the bombs because, quote, "you never know if you might need them." 3 michael ramos' facebook page makes clear he is armed and ready. it makes clear he believes an armed militia should regulate the government when they get out of control. yet, he did not

reaction is very shocked, honestly. that guy is a very nice guy."ramos was turned in on saturday by his former employer, ken o'neill, of patriot armor, a seller of ballistic plates. an affidavidt says o'neill saw at least four pipe bombs in ramos' home two weeks earlier, and that ramos told him he made them with products from the internet and home depot. he allegedly said, if "it hits the fan, you never know if you might need it.""had one of them gone off, anybody within a fifty foot radius would have either been seriously hurt or killed."during a recorded phone call with o'neill on sunday, ramos promised he would get rid of the bombs. but monday, federal agents raided the home and found eight live pvc pipe bombs and assortment of grenades, tear gas, and ammunition."we really appreciate the fact that someone from the public took the time to call, and alert us that somebody was in possession of pipe bombs." after the raid, ramos' girlfriend came to the house to gather belongings,"will you just tell us why he had the bombs?"she had no comment. after being arrested, ramos told agents he had no intention of hurting anyone, that they were for preparedness and protective reasons. yet, the affidavidt also says ramos added birdshot to the bombs and admitted it o'neill the bombs could potentially kill his neighbors. "it's very nice guy, i don't know their private life, you know what i mean? for me???"
5:08 am
3 (jen) in the complaint, ramos also says: he's a part of a *militia in pinellas county called the "united states patriot army." a-t-f agents told evan: they are currently checking to see whether that is a real group, and if so, whether ramos is actually a member. 3

(vanessa still no sign this morning of two teenagers, who escaped from juvenile detention in hillsborough county. investigators say: 18-year-old anthony bays, and 17-year-old anthony cook, cut a hole in the chain-link fence, and crawled through it during a recreation period sunday morning. both were serving time for grand theft auto. 3 (vanessa) now the tampa bay times is reporting that the private company that oversees security at the facility, has suspended four employees without pay, over the incident. and there's allegedly some concern at the department of justice about the hour-long delay between the time guards discovered the teenagers were missing, and when they reported the incident to law enforcement. 3 3 a spring hill woman is under arrest this morning for a misuse of the 9-1-1 system. 3 deputies were called out to a home on everett avenue just after 2 monday morning. when they met paramedics on scene they were told the homeowner had called them 6 times since thursday,
5:10 am
when they determined "carolee hammond" had nothing wrong with her, they told her misuse of 9-1-1 was a crime. hammond then called them back just before 4 a-m. after she was medically cleared, deputies arrested her for misuse of 9-1-1. 3 3 ((vanessa)) the seminole tribe is "doubling down"... hoping to win big with state lawmakers. they're willing to expand their hard rock casinos in tampa and south florida... creating nearly 20-thousand new jobs in our state... but florida lawmakers have to sign the compact struck with governor rick scott. it would allow the tribe to add *craps and *roulette at its casinos. in exchange, the seminoles would pay florida three- billion dollars over seven-years. governor scott has repeatedly asked lawmakers to approve the deal... but so far, no dice. but the expansion plans, are pretty sweet. (take dbx) 3 ((vanessa fox-13's shayla reaves is at the hard rock right now. shayla: the plans are exciting and enticing... what's on the drawing board?

people are recovering from injuries, after a seven-car crash. four of them went to the hospital. it wasn't fog, but winter conditions that caused the pile-up near parker. roads all over the denver metro area are slick, after a day's worth of snow. and this accident closed down roads for several hours... but it's back open now. the bad news: forecasters say: the region could get up to another foot of snow. 3 (jen detectives say: three inmates who broke-out of a california jail several days ago... had allegedly been planning their escape for *months. according to investigators, the trip was picked-up by an accomplice. and later, they kidnapped a taxi driver. authorities say: two of the inmates argued about *killing him... but the cabbie wasn't hurt. two of the fugitives were captured in san francisco and returned to the orange county jail near los angeles, sunday night. the other turned himself in, last week. 3 ((vanessa a local man is lucky to be alive. a crash on i-4 left him injured... trapped in his burning truck. he was in big trouble... until a group of brave witnesses jumped into action. 3

(jen) well, *ikea, has come-up with a handy way to stop that bad habit. 3 (jen/ it's called the "hot pot table." and it's an ingenius way to "unplug" during meals. the table is powered by smartphones... so everyone has to surrender their devices, and place them below the pot in the center of the table. if someone removes their phone, the heat drops, and the food won't get cooked properly. it should work... but it *does stress people out... since they can still *see their phones, but can't touch them. they're sort of forced to talk to each other. 3
