coming off the south carolina primary over the weekend, vermont senator and democratic hopeful bernie sanders is looking ahead to super tuesday. 1-hundred 10 delegates are up for grabs in virginia. later this morning, sanders is scheduled to hold a rally at the scope in norfolk. rico bush is live outside scope with more on where both democractic candidates stand in the polls in virginia. don, according to a christopher newport university poll, sanders trails clinton here in the commonwealth by double digits. it shows the former first lady with the upper-hand. but anything can happen before tuesday, and as

we may see him become a serious threat. despite the twelve percent lead in virginia for clinton, sanders is still taking his message to the people in hampton roads. his campaign tells 10 on your side sanders will talk about the several issues this morning, including college affordability, racial injustice, and ecomonic prosperity. at today's event, the u-s senator is looking to set himself apart from his democratic challenger. we expect him to hit clinton on several issues, like wall street donations and super pac funderaising - a message his has echoed several times in debates and in his stump speech throughout his campaign on the road. here's where things stand between the two nationally. according to a fox news poll, it shows sanders leading clinton nationally by three points with 47 percent support to clinton's 44 percent. however, a new nbc news - wall street journal poll taken in february finds clinton still has a solid, but narrowing lead over sanders by double digits. if you'd like to see and learn more information on the candidates, head to

at 7:30. happening today, a major milestone for the new bonner bridge on the outer banks. crews will start preparing the site for

span. it's a story 10 on your side has covered for years. the constant battle between environmentalists and residents to build a new bridge connecting hatteras island with the rest of the outer banks. weather permitting, crews will start preparing the south-side of the bridge. part of the parking lot on pea island will become a staging area for construction equipment. the work on the bridge will actually start next month. the current bonner bridge is 52 years-old, and was designed only to last 30 years. health care in hampton roads is about to expand. sentara announced a multi-million dollar modernization project at norfolk general hospital. the health care company says it will spend almost $200 million dollars to add three floors to its main building, expand the emerency room department and modernize 18 of its major operating rooms. sentara sent us these pictures of what the new facility will look like. construction will start in just a few months. if you're working or visiting anytime soon norfolk general, you'll see plenty of crews working on the new project.

and just how well you know the candidates. a c-n-n reporter did a round of political trivia with people at a diner in las vegas, and some had a lot of trouble naming, or even recognizing candidates. "that's the one and only, mr. trump." "who's this?" " i don't know him. that looks like elliot spitzer." (laughter) several people also had trouble recognizing republican candidate john kasich. he was the most unknown of the bunch. even young people had problems identifying the candidates. "who's this?" "uhh, mmm... marco rubio?" "nope" "teddy cruz" "teddy cruz" "um, i'm not sure about that guy. he's not currently running right?" several people also couldn't remember which candidates were in which party,

race. one man got bernie sanders and jeb bush confused. yesterday republican candidate john kasich visited different parts of virginia, speaking first in fairfax, then charlottesville, then richmond. but it was his first speech in fairfax that didn't sit well with some women. he told a crowd of supporters that women "left their kitchens" to help him get elected, and by the time he got to richmond, there were already people protesting the line. john kasich "we just got an army of people who, and many women who left their kitchens to out and go door to door and to put yard signs up for me, all the way back when you know, things were different. now you call homes and everybody's out working. but in that time, in the early days, it was really an army of women who helped me get elected" the ohio governor finished 5th behind jeb bush in the south carolina primary. even though bush dropped out shortly after the primary, kasich told supporters yesterday he has no plans of leaving the race.

absentee ballots were sent to some voters in hampton already filled out. election officials say the printer sent out test ballots and official ballots in the same box - and didn't separately label them. because of that, the coordinator accidentally sent 17 voters the wrong ones. however, officials say it won't impact the election. william lewis, hampton whenever you have human beings you're going to have human error. this is a very small number of ballots that went out in error and we're doing everything we can do to correct it. election officials say they identified the voters who received those incorrect ballots, and are working to get them the correct ones. today is actually the deadline to request an absentee ballot. staying in virginia beach - police are investigating car break-ins at two oceanfront hotel garages. officers say people reported it saturday in the hilton and sheraton garages on atlantic avenue. we spoke with a valet at the

were more than 20 cars with windows smashed. so far, police have not released a suspect description. new this morning, a 97-year-old woman in california is being evicted from her home. she's lived there for the past 60 years, and home was a close friend, and promised her she could stay for the rest of her life. well the new landlord, who is a distant relative of hatch's friend, was not aware of the agreement, and issued hatch and her roommate an eviction notice. now the women have 60 days to find a new place. marie hatch, tenant "no, i love this old house. look at all this nice stuff." "we're staying optimistic that some accommodation can be reached." georgia rotherock, tenant "i'd go out the bus stop bench surrounded by my boxes and books and sit there (laughs)." the lawyer for the new landlord released a the sole responsibility of the landlord.

good morning katie. eager to make a comeback after a very narrow defeat in nevada, sanders is hoping to rally big support here in hampton roads to help him defeat democratic front-runner hillary clinton. at today's event, the sanders' campaign says the u-s senator will talk about a wide range of issues, money out of politics, making college affordable and combating criminal injustice. sanders is also expected to go after his donations, which he believes may he's looking to set himself apart from the former secretary of state. in tuesday's primary, there is a big

the pentagon will recommend to congress a plan to transfer the remaining detainees to a facility in the u-s. military officials say it will cost 475- million-dollars, but save 180-million- dollars a year in operating costs. president obama previously promised to close the prison. he says terrorists use guantanamo bay as a recruiting tool. look for more on the president's statement coming on wavy news 10 midday. new this morning, a two-alarm fire pretty much destroyed a warehouse in california overnight. check out the incredible video out of los angeles. 75 to 100 firefighters battled the flames until the early morning hours. no one was hurt. investigators are looking into what caused it. also new this morning - check out this crane collapse caught on camera in australia. you can see a fire in part of the crane. firefighters were able to get that under control,

crane from collapsing 10 stories. fortunately no one was hurt. officials say an electrical fire started in the crane's motor. developing this morning, we're learning more about the teenage victim who survived a deadly shooting rampage in michigan. take a look at this picture. this is 14-year-old abigail kopf. investigators say she is one of eight victims an uber driver shot in kalamazoo this past weekend. state police said doctors believe she was dead for more than an hour before she squeezed her mother's hand. abigail's mother said that moment filled her with hope. 10:06 "breathtaking... it was a miracle on its own.. you don't expect it and then all of the sudden it's there." butt to 06:03 this... and either did her grandmother or those other victims." four other women who were with abigail died

shooting. barbara hawthorne, was not related to abigail, but was affectionally known as grandma barb. abigail's parents say their daugther loves theater and barbara would often take her to see shows, just like they did on saturday night. the man accused of killing six people and seriously injuring two others is behind bars this morning. a judge denied jason dalton bond yesterday. police say he confessed to officers but has not shown remorse. new information came out during dalton's arraignment. police say the he had a semi-automatic pistol and more ammunition when they pulled him over early sunday morning. investigators have not found a motive. they say dalton's shootings were random and unprovoked. he faces murder, attempted murder, and gun charges. today 10 on your side will be in a portsmouth courtroom to see if a murder case against a former police officer moves forward. soures tell us commonwealth's attorney stephanie morales is having issues with witnessess

trial. she might ask the court to continue the case. the judge is also scheduled to consider a motion to keep uniformed officers out of courtroom during the trial. the trial is set to begin march 21. sources say rankin's defense has witnesses who say he had no choice but to shoot 18-year-old wiliam chapman the second. they say chapman was the aggressor outside the frederick boulevard walmart last year. later this morning a veteran virgina beach police officer is scheduled to have a bond hearing for a drunk driving charge. currently sgt. margaret hobbs is behind bars. virginia beach police say officers arrested sgt. hobbs sunday for driving under the influence. court records say she had a child with her, and that her blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit. hobbs is a familiar face because she served as a public information officer for the department. police have released few details on the arrest. but, sources within the department say hobbs got into some sort of accident on sunday

bonner bridge on the outer banks. crews will start preparing the site for constructing a brand new span. it's a story 10 on your side has covered for years. the constant battle between environmentalists and residents to build a new bridge connecting hatteras island with the rest of the outer banks. weather permitting, crews will start preparing the south-side of the bridge. part of the parking lot on pea island will become a staging area for construction equipment. the work on the bridge will actually start next month. the current bonner bridge is 52 years-old, and was designed only to last 30 years. health care in hampton roads is about to expand. sentara announced a multi-million dollar modernization project at norfolk general hospital. the health care company says it will spend almost $200 million dollars to add three floors to its main building, expand the emerency room department and modernize 18 of its major operating rooms. sentara sent us these renderings of what the new facility will look like. construction will start in just a few months. if you're working or visiting anytime soon

crews working on the new project. virginia beach police are investigating car break-ins at two oceanfront hotel garages. officers say people reported it saturday in the hilton and sheraton garages on atlantic avenue. we spoke with a valet at the sheraton who says there were more than 20 cars with windows smashed. he also says the sheraton has surveillance video of the suspect, but police have not released a description. virginia beach police need your help to find the man they say stole a breast pump from a wal-mart. take a good look at this picture of the suspect. officers say it happened last month at the wal-mart on phoenix drive near lynnhaven mall. investigators say he put the pump in a plastic bag and walked out without paying. its worth $164 dollars. call the crime line if you know who this man is. the death toll from a cyclone in fiji is now up to at least 29 people. take a look at this drone footage that flew over some of the damage. a government spokesman
