Classic TV uploaded by HappySwordsman

More or less abandoned sub-section. I still love classic TV, but have lost all interest in uploading it.

Many of these uploads are sourced from Shokus Video and Alpha Video DVDs. But I stopped buying DVDs several years ago, and hence there are no more uploads. Personally, I'm hoping these series come to the streaming services in the future.

An early example of a filmed television series. A western series. This episode was originally telecast 15 December 1951 according to IMDb. This episode of "Kit Carson" is noticeably more violent than the episodes of "Range Rider" I uploaded. It also contains a commercial for your friendly Coca-Cola bottler.

TV western series. In this episode, Jim Bowie helps a man whose wife is pregnant. I know this may seem like a strange thing to say, but I like the soundtrack of this series, which consists of a vocal group. It's quite refreshing.

Episode "Santa's Helper" of the oddly-named 1950s sitcom "Date with the Angels". In this episode, the lead character tries to get a job for an elderly friend, which causes trouble when, after getting a job as a Department store Santa, he starts giving away toys for free. Starring Betty White. Sorry for picture quality flaws caused by issues beyond my control. Uploaded by: "The_Emperor_Of_Television"

An episode of the late-1950s variety series "The Big Party". Each episode was a whopping 90 minutes. In this episode, Rock Hudson throws a party, his guests include the multi-talented Sammy Davis Jr. (is there anything he can't do?), Tallulah Bankhead, an under-used Esther Williams, a surprising (by 1959 TV standards) Mort Sahl, and other celebrities. Barbara Britton is also around to give us lots of Revlon commercials, and was the only recurring cast member in the short-lived series.

A collection of US commercials for products you can no longer buy. Forgive me if there's any mistakes. Sometimes the brand is still around but the exact product is gone (such as with "Futurama" lipstick by Revlon), sometimes both the product and brand are gone (such as with "Tip Toni"). Some only exist in-name-only, while at least one product is no longer available in the US but is still sold in another country. The commercials are mainly from the 1950s, along with some from...

An episode of the long-running half-hour sitcom. In this episode, Ozzie is friends with a young kid. When the kid's parents are at the hospital with a new baby, the kid stays with the Nelson family. According to IMDb, guests in this episode include Barry Livingston and Frank Cady (though Cady's role is rather small). A later episode of the long-running sitcom (19 February 1966). June Nelson tries to trick David Nelson into going on a trip to Hawaii.  A shame that the disc source for this episode put watermarks on it. Also, although the final season was filmed in colour, the circulating copies are black-and-white, which is odd. Invalid copyright notice.

An unsold TV pilot from 1963 called "The Plot Thickens". Same concept as the early 1950s series "Crawford Mystery Theatre" (of which only a single kinescope survives...anyone able to upload it?). In this pilot, a panel is shown a short film about a crime, and then has to guess who the guilty person is. Features Groucho Marx as one of the panel members. Could someone please check that this is public domain?

A very short bit of filler from 1968. Produced by or for Britain's Central Office of Information (COI). Features no narration, just footage of 1960s female fashion with music accompaniment.  I'm not completely certain, but I believe this is an example of one of the bits of filler the COI produced to fill in gaps in the schedules of TV channels. The COI did literally hundreds of such fillers over the years...

An episode of "Liberace", a popular 1950s TV series starring the pianist of the same name.  Unlike most 50s music shows which were live with a studio audience, this one was filmed with an canned audience-track. Episode of TV western series. This is interesting for a number of reasons: it was an early episode of the series (and the tone is more serious than usual); it has an interesting storyline (Pony Express being replaced with stage-lines); according to IMDb this episode is from 1951, making it an early example of a filmed series (still uncommon at the time).

An episode of "Your Hit Parade", a music-variety series featuring hit songs sung by the cast members. Not one of the better episodes, I'm sorry to say. Songs include: "Shanghai", "The Loveliest Night of the Year", "Sweet Violets", "I Get Ideas", "Come On-a My House", "Too Young", and "Because of You". In very poor shape, missing the cigarette commercials and with the wrong opening and closing, plus some sound and...

Hugely popular and long-running CBS game show which seems to lack a copyright notice. Panel in this episode: Dorothy Kilgallen, Bennett Cerf, William Shatner, and Kitty Carlisle. Mystery guest is Jack Lemmon. John Daly is host as usual. Contains some of the original commercials, but the first commercial freezes and then skips.

An episode of the controversal yet popular proto-reality TV series "Queen for a Day". Much-panned by critics of the day. This is from late March 1958 based on one of the promos it contains. (note: "Queen for a Day" aired at 4PM to 4:45PM each weekday on NBC, followed by the 15-minute "Modern Romances". This 45 episode contains original commercials and promos).

A rather implausible episode of "My Hero", a short-lived US sitcom which aired from 1952 to 1953. This is a syndication print of an episode originally broadcast on 16 May 1953. Yes, this is an example of television comedy from over 60 years ago.

An episode of dramatic anthology series "Stage 7". This episode stars Peggy Ann Garner, Charles Bronson, Irene Hervey and Grandon Rhodes. Originally broadcast 29 May 1955 on CBS, however this is a 1959 syndication print under the "Star Performance" title, though it does run the correct 25-and-a-half minutes.

A very corny episode of "My Hero", a short-lived US sitcom series starring Bob Cummings. Please note that the sound quality of this upload is not up to my usual standards, actually it's quite poor. You have been warned. This episode was originally telecast 11 April 1953 on NBC.

An unsold pilot from 1964. A sketch comedy show. Produced by Jay Ward Productions for the CBS Television Network. Although not picked up, the pilot was nevertheless broadcast (I assume in edited form, as the version presented here is 33-and-a-half minutes without commercials).
