this is blackburg, virginia. that's where you find virginia tech. you look at these areas right now and try to figure out, you know, with the democratic vote how it's going? it's very early here. mcauliffe only a couple hundred votes and youngkin at 565. a ways to go, still. >> martha: bill, take a luge at richmond again? >> bill: richmond city not to be confused with richmond county, okay? richmond county is over in this area here. we are early in the night for that county. expect youngkin to do well. this is richmond city it has been a strong area for democrats for quite a long time now. but there is no data just yet in the county that ranks 9 out of 133 counties. >> bret: it's interesting to watch where you think the biggest determining factor is here, bill. where this entire race comes down to. is it how well mcauliffe does in northern virginia or is it how well youngkin does in the southern part of the state? >> bill: that's a great question here. i think based on our voter analysis. what i can say early on, bret, is that youngkin seemed to be

senate in west virginia? >> yes, probably pay more taxes than anybody on this state to west virginia. [cheers and applause] and if it was not for me, neither of the two guys will be up here. it is funny that pat says only conservative on the stage, conservatives were not even popular in west virginia then i caused them to be conservative by investing $5 million of my own money. honesty, it is funny to hear politicians talk about honesty. i think that that is odd. and as far as a voting record, i voted for the unborn and i have given hundreds of thousands of dollars to write for life. that is a real vote. being able to use the states money, that is pretty easy to do. it does not take any personal sacrifice to do that. i have made a lot of personal sacrifices if you will to stop the bomb that would have wasted money in west virginia cut your food tax. those types of sacrifices when you are a conservative or you take a position that is not popular is what it is going to take to drain the swamp. you cannot drain

in talking to a congressman tonight from virginia, he said the virginia economy grew at 0.6% last year. either the northam p.r. team did a great job or gillespie did a -- >> i think the democrats won it. ed gillespie did better. we finished our work going through the counties. ed gillespie did better than the republican nominee did four, eight years ago. these are in a lot of key counties. the democrats turned out to vote. they showed up in larger number than the republicans. there's going to be a lot of blame heaped on and gillespie. he ran a successful race in terms of getting the vote year he thought he was going to need. they just got swamped by democratic turnout. >> shannon: congressman, interesting. when i went about this morning, there was a huge crowd. there were clearly people -- people were very motivated. how much do you think of the things factored in like the fact that congress hasn't gotten some big things across the finish line, repealing obamacare, tax reform. do you think it factors in for voters? >> i don't think so. it will be interesting what chris thinks but i thi

what did you find out about west virginia and nebraska? >> literally the numbers are still coming in. a few things we can take a look at. maybe we can put some of them up on the screen. the west virginia democrats are fascinating to watch in the race. because we've heard anecdotally from many that they are voting for bernie sanders. voting for bernie sanders they're going to vote for donald trump in the fall. there is this sort of change that's been happening over the last several years. where west virginia is not looking as democrat as it was at one time. west virginia democrats 2016 vote for president, 44% hillary clinton, 33% donald trump. and 21% say they're not satisfied with either of the choices that they have. so when sanders is in the mix, take a look at this one, 48% for sanders, west virginia democrats. 32% donald trump, 18% say neither so there's a significant chunk of people on the democratic side, who are undecided. these are interesting, too. because these are numbers that we are seeing for the first time out of west virgini

west virginia split from virginia 150 years ago. how do you feel about parts of virginia reattaching? >> we welcome them to come over. you know, they are more like us than they are the i-95 corridor now. they have very similar demographics. you know, similar cultural beliefs. so, why not? it's a natural thing for them to move over to us. >> tucker: this is the kind of thing that people talk about u in frustration. but as a legal matter, could it happen? what would it take? >> well, the west virginia constitution allows us to take on new territory with the consent of the legislator and vote of the people. acr 8 is our consent of the legislator. and then, once the virginia county votes to leave, they would have to be released by the general assembly in virginia or they could sue in court for the right to self-determination. once that happens, the people of west virginia would vote and over they would come. at that point, we would bring them in on june 20th of whatever year that happens to be, which is our birthday so the dates line up
